One of the greatest living jazz guitarists, a view shared by both Chet Atkins' and Tommy Emmanuel. The pyrotechnic virtuoso displays of his youth have, it seems, given way to a much more measured, lyrical style these days. Wonderful that he is willing to share so many of his secrets with us..
Thanks for your lessons. I have only just started to learn guitar... at 60plus. I heard you talking with Justin sandercoe. I really like this Gipsy Jazz. So will read and watch anything with this music involved. Music theory is just so fascinating . Wished I had had the time when I was younger. All the best. David
i'm not a fingerstyle or jazz player, but enjoyed these 3 videos very much. martin is such a legendary player, yet he comes across as so natural and down to earth - he doesn't show off how great a player he is, he just plays and explains in an easy-to-understand way
Most dedicated folks are like that; humbled by the challenges, wasting little energy on preening. They also have respect for peers, and generous personalities.
Thanks. Reminds me of an interview with Julian Bream, where he discussed just that factor; controlling the dynamics of each string. He said he worked a lot on it. Seems for both of you it was worth it!
If kids played music like they play the XBox we'd have troves more musicians like that coming through today. You don't hear many guitarists who can do that any more. I hope it doesn't become a lost art.
Thank you I learned so much from all three of these videos

Beautiful :) Martin could also have become the worlds best air traffic controller. Thank you for not falling in that trap.
That tune is bliss!! Great style and control!!
Thanks Mr Taylor, you've solve one of my problems on finger style playing when projecting a tune, stay blessed and cheers!

You're gifted! Thank you.
Awesome lesson as usual. Love you Martin. You're amazing!
The dynamics make all the difference! Martin's guitar skills create breathtaking music. Reminds me of Joe Pass only on steroids. 🎶🎸
What a masterful guitarist!
