Seen these two guys last night in the Ulster Hall Belfast, these guys are seriously good, I had to nip myself "this is not a dream" I'm listening to 2 of the finest guitarists who ever walked the face of this earth. They both got a standing ovation, we felt blessed that we were the FIRST show on the tour. If you appreciate great acoustic playing DON'T MISS THESE GUYS!
This is an inexpressibly excellent track to sing to. I find so many jazz phrases within the gorgeous structure they provide. Let me sing with Mr. Emmanuel just once before I die.
Taylor and Emmanuel absolutely totally different styles of playing, and that represents their background of coming into guitar playing. Taylor a superb jazz guitar player, fantastic, Emmanuel a superb guitarist without genre limitations. One thing to note about Emmanuel is that he seems to bring out the best playing of all those he teams with, like they try extra hard, because Tommy inspires.
Think it goes both ways. Tommy is aware of his skills and limitations and seems to admire those who acquired their skills that equal and surpass his in certain genres. Ego does not get in his way much; he’s about the music. That’s evident.
I love the way they say 'yeah' or 'hehee' when they agree with a musical statement the other guy's made. They are on the same wavelength so totally it is like telepathy.
Tommy is a real artist just like Martin. I like the improvisation from Tommy with such a great feeling, He hits the right note's that gives me a great feeling of happiness and sometime sadness! He is also a great human with a great taste of humor. They both great peoples and also guitarists!!
I saw him in arkansas a while back, he was astounding, got to meet him after the show, also anthony snipe, both very humble and great men :) he told me the words i will never forget for as long as i live, "When i play guitar, i don't like when people say ' im goin to burn my guitar now' but i want to inspire people to play music like this for future generations! don't ever stop playing!"
He is in my comfort zone, I like jazz and can see the influnce in his playing. So many great guitarists out there we don't get to see on a big pubic stage.
Dont know what ur taste is, but Martin Taylor is a must to listen to many of his works. He plays bassline, chord and melody live. Does commercial things like Renault Clio and teaches. "Spirit of Django" is well worth a listen as is his work with Stefan Grapelli. If u see him live u can get a chat with him
Not really a fan of TE , but he’s always about the music and I love watching the joy he gets as he creates, glancing at his fellow players and/or audience; as fascinated by what comes out, as we are .
I remember hearing Martin for the first time i was 15 and my grandad taped me a thing on the radio featuring guitar players from many styles hosted by Burton Weedon Martin was the "jazz" guy he played "just squeeze me" and immediately I fell in love with his playing and I've bought everything he ever done since. Loved looking around virgin megastore's jazz section as a teen and buying all your linn records Martin you continue to inspire me.
How fortunate I am! I have seen both of these giants in person. Martin in Green Valley, AZ and Tommy (Tony Enamel) in Hutchinson, KS. I would walk through fire to see them both again! I never get enough of either of them. It is hard to believe that one person could have as much talent as each of them has. Thanks for the video!
Love listening to Tommy Emmanuel play guitar, but watching and listening makes it all the more enjoyable, because it's so very evident that he loves it so.
Martin Taylor was born way before Taylor guitars were a thing. But Martin and Taylor guitars should be proud of this guitar phenom. Tommy is also great. They listen to each other so well. A nice conversation between two masters!
I caught you guys the other night in Aberdeen, when you play together you're not rock guitarists, jazz musicians or horn players, you're just guitarists! I know people have to put you in a box but you're better off outside the box! The show was the best display of musicianship I've ever seen & I'm still in total awe of your personal & combined talents.
I saw them last week in Basingstoke - that's England! and this was a high point...of a show with nothing but high points, I might add! Truly unforgettable.
this is not about who is the best . it's about two wonderful musicians making beautiful music together ! they both just have different styles. it don't get much prettier than this !
I came here not knowing who Martin Taylor was. and I'm leaving a MAJOR fan. He's so smooth with his playing it's almost surreal. Tommy ofcourse is world class. I'm just refreshed finding such a fantastic player playing with one of my favorites.
Tune at the top is The nearness of you ... Not sure about the outro tune but might be I will wait for you. Looking a forward to seeing these boys tonight in Shepherds Bush
This put the biggest smile on my face. God bless the power of music. Obviously an enormous amount of work for this to be possible all the credit in the world to them
Reminds me of Herb Ellis n Joe Pass two for the road album. Absolutley beautiful the way they play off one another.Taylor not only a masterful guitarist but fantastic interviewer as well.
How did we get so lucky to live in an era of such great musicians and youtube? When I started we only had records. I even tried to learn a couple Chet Atkins tunes off records.
I was blown away by the performance of these gentlemen.Wish I could play like them.I'm a big fan.Thank heavens if I can at least have 1/4 of their guitar talent.
Beautiful. Probably the best two solo acoustic guitarists in the world right now (honourary mention to pepe d'agostino). I've seen Martin 5 or 6 times, but would love to see Tommy, just missed out venue wise, next time I'm there! Django and Wes are in my top 3 - 5 Jazz guitarists too, amazing instrmentalists.
I first saw Martin playing with Stephane Grappelli on TV many years ago and thought he had about the nicest jazz tone and technique I had ever heard. Still does.
Folks like them are the reason why I love guitar so much, even though my playing would not be considered guitar playing at all after listening to these masters.
I really think that Martin and Tommy are a very interesting pair of guitar players. Martin is so good at accompanying... I am stunned by him playing the Yamaha AEX 1500 .. I believe he was in on the design ....so cool and I would like their CD and the Nichols is fine butthe Taylor Emmanuel would be outstanding Cheers and Thanks for posting Dave Alberta
One of the best things to watch is two outstanding artists play together... the musical effect doesn't just add up, it multiplies. Just wow.
If you appreciate great acoustic playing DON'T MISS THESE GUYS!
you guys get out jogging and stay around for the next 30-40 years. so beautiful
This is an inexpressibly excellent track to sing to. I find so many jazz phrases within the gorgeous structure they provide. Let me sing with Mr. Emmanuel just once before I die.
can we just acknowledge the fact that this guys name is martin taylor? thats like being named gibson fender
LOL
ahahahahaaaaaah xD \m/
Hahahahahahaaha,LOL)))))
Except with decent guitar manufacturers...
JohnPKnuckles
you're saying gibson and fender are not decent guitar manufacturers?
Taylor and Emmanuel absolutely totally different styles of playing, and that represents their background of coming into guitar playing. Taylor a superb jazz guitar player, fantastic, Emmanuel a superb guitarist without genre limitations. One thing to note about Emmanuel is that he seems to bring out the best playing of all those he teams with, like they try extra hard, because Tommy inspires.
Martin Taylor is one of the best
Yea. Couldn't have said it better.
Yes! I get the same feeling about Tommy. It always seems that whomever he plays with, just digs a little bit deeper 💜
Think it goes both ways. Tommy is aware of his skills and limitations and seems to admire those who acquired their skills that equal and surpass his in certain genres. Ego does not get in his way much; he’s about the music. That’s evident.
I can't stop listening to them! Amazing!
I come back to this "interview" like i always come back and listen to the Beatles. Its soo cool completely different musicians
Is there anything more relaxing in the wide world of music than these guys having fun with the most wonderful instrument?
I love the way they say 'yeah' or 'hehee' when they agree with a musical statement the other guy's made. They are on the same wavelength so totally it is like telepathy.
Tommy rubs shoulders with the best guitar players alive. Martin Taylor being case in point.
Love seeing those two playing together
If you don't know martin taylor you are not into (jazz) guitar: he is one of the greatest !
Beautiful conversation of two masters .
I have to say too that Martins phrasing in that first solo was fantastic, some of the best I ever heard.
Tommy is a real artist just like Martin. I like the improvisation from Tommy with such a great feeling, He hits the right note's that gives me a great feeling of happiness and sometime sadness! He is also a great human with a great taste of humor. They both great peoples and also guitarists!!

must be so much fun to play with someone so good when you're someone that good...that interview started way before they spoke a word.
This is some of the best music I have ever heard, and I have never heard Martin Taylor before!
Probably because he's not in your normal comfort zone. He's one of the most accomplished players in the jazz world
He is in my comfort zone, I like jazz and can see the influnce in his playing. So many great guitarists out there we don't get to see on a big pubic stage.
Check him out in Wikepedia. He tours in US and Europe and teaches - he is Dr Taylor now
He seems pretty shit hot technically, I have watched a few more vids of him now.
Dont know what ur taste is, but Martin Taylor is a must to listen to many of his works. He plays bassline, chord and melody live. Does commercial things like Renault Clio and teaches. "Spirit of Django" is well worth a listen as is his work with Stefan Grapelli. If u see him live u can get a chat with him
I love Tommy's inflection. soul , whatever it is, it's real. going down the Martin Taylor rabbit hole now.
Name is Martin Taylor? You were born to play guitar.
Fender Gibson here. I was born to play guitar
Two guitar monsters, yet so friendly and beautiful together.
man Martin's guitar just sounds fantastic
Masters!! So much talent. This is an absolute joy!!
Martin, you and Tommy together is about as close as anyone will Ever get to Magic!
OMG the most tastiest jam ive heard in a while... brings me too the brink of tears with goosebumps alll over
How fortunate I am! I have seen both of these giants in person. Martin in Green Valley, AZ and Tommy (Tony Enamel) in Hutchinson, KS. I would walk through fire to see them both again! Stunning, total empathy between them, differing styles yet they ooze class...and compliment each other.
They get emotional when they play together, so much love and taste with these players…
I am satisfied to listen to whatever Tommy plays & whoever accompanies him. Every time I listen it is a treat.***** 5 stars
The two gentlemen mix perfectly together, being different is a great asset, if you put together open minds. 👍🏼
Love listening to Tommy Emmanuel play guitar, but watching and listening makes it all the more enjoyable, because it's so very evident that he loves it so.
Martin Taylor is a perfect name for a guitar player. Two of the best acoustic guitar makers Martin and Taylor guitars
nope, the perfect name would be Martin Gibson Taylor. But close enough I guess. LOL :P
bobby smith why don't you shut the fuck up
whats your problem?
shadowofthenighthawk ha ha
shadowofthenighthawk OK, Let's make it Martin Gibson Taylor Fender, does that suit you? ;-)
Martin Taylor was born way before Taylor guitars were a thing. But Martin and Taylor guitars should be proud of this guitar phenom. Tommy is also great. They listen to each other so well. A nice conversation between two masters!
What beautiful guitar playing from both guys. Magic.

Lovely to listen to and all without distortion, what a treat.
man ...... i wish i could play like the both of them....so damn beautiful you can feel it a billion miles away.
I caught you guys the other night in Aberdeen, when you play together you're not rock guitarists, jazz musicians or horn players, you're just guitarists! I can only watch this once a year or so--the music makes me cry. But in a good way.
4th night in a row I've watched this, days off work and peace and quiet. wonderful
3.39-3.41. Wes Montgomery lick? I could listen to these guys all day long. What a joy it must be, at the top of the tree.
Always enjoy listening to these two........
Good sir
Two humble legends together, makes them all the more admirable.
I saw them last week in Basingstoke - that's England! and this was a high point...of a show with nothing but high points, I might add! Truly unforgettable.

martin taylor has one of the most cleanest guitars I ever heard
Great that one can SEE what is going on. These guys should collaborate on a series of videos of these old standards.....imo
WOnderful!
I tear up every time i revisit this video.
Two amazing players.....great to see.
this video demonstrates why jazz is classier than any other genre.
You mean muted strings?
A Master class in the first few minutes... AWESOME AWESOME !!!!
The bit from 2:19 to 2:30 is sooo good.
how's the fade-out of that tune? Geez, these guys are on another level. Love em both.
Music is fresh and has a natural feel, I like very much.

Nearness of you - great - thank you - what a great version Tommy I saw live once.
Once upon a time I was a professional piano player - once.
Hey Martin, You and Tommy have done this song justice. Great sound, great picking.

Beautiful. Probably the best two solo acoustic guitarists in the world right now (honourary mention to pepe d'agostino). I've seen Martin 5 or 6 times, but would love to see Tommy, just missed out venue wise, next time I'm there!
