- A tutorial way overdue on how to dial in Classic Negative JPEGs in your X Series Cameras from FUJIFILM. Classic Negative can certainly be a tricky film simulation to dial in but these tips may help you achieve the look you're after. As always good light is needed for most simulations just like real analog film and Classic Negative is no exception.

New Fuji user here and I’m glad I found your channel.
I’m glad to have you here. I post a lot of info on Instagram as well.
Great! Thank you so much!
Your rough look fooled me when I saw your sensuous photos at the end of the vid =]
Hi Joe, thank you for sharing this! Awesome images and recipe. Would you mind to share also the Astia based Street McCurry recipe you have stored on C4?
Excellent video, cheers from France.
Thank you
Wowie zowie, those are some killer images. Great call on the music. Really provides that extra oomph to my senses.
Thank you for your comments, feedback and giving the video a watch.
Thank you so much for sharing this! And stunning photos, as usual :)
Thank you so much for your feedback. I love your publication.
Joe, your photos are just wonderful. In particular some of your street photographs are absolutely comparable with the photographs of Saul Leiter. Watching them and listening to that cool jazz in the background is like balm for the soul. Thanks for sharing!
I’m truly humbled. Thank you so much and I’m sorry I just saw this comment now.
wow your talent is impressive
Thank you for watching. I greatly appreciate your kind words.
Absolutely beautiful tweaks
Thank you
I'll definitely try your version of Classic Ng tomorrow!
I loved the relaxed atmosphere, the images and the easy way of explanation in the video.
Thank you.
Regards.
I've just discovered your YT channel thanks to the article of your website about Nostalgic Negative simulation. Thanks for sharing this techniques and simulations!
Beautiful images Joe.
Thanks for making and sharing.
Thanks for checking it out
Wow amazing images! Buddy you are an inspiration! Thank you
Much appreciated thank you
Thank you for making my life easier. I am awaiting receipt of a new xt3 and bought it thinking it had all of the current film simulations. Classic Negative was my reason for upgrading from The xt1. You have given me an easy work around. Your sample images are magic. Seeing them ,
I am carried back to the 1950s. Stay Safe ! Regards, Henry
thank you so much for taking the ti e to comment. I’m glad I could be of some help. Good luck with your camera.
Great photos, amazing tones. Thanks!
Thank you Mario. I appreciate you checking it out.
Joe, Thanks for sharing. I felt the same about Classic Neg but I’ll definitely try your settings on my 50r. Your representative images look beautiful.
Thank you so much. Good luck with your results.
Hey Joe, following up on this - I did try this on my 50r with mixed results but recently bought an XE-4 and dialed in these settings, I must say that the results are amazing. Also, just downloaded your Kodachrome V2 presets, excited to try them out. Thanks!
Interesting trick about Clarity (to make it quicker), but it does not seem to work. When going into burst mode, Clarity gets disabled 😔
Maybe the reason you was not seeing it in your images at first but liking what you saw online is that lighting is a little different in different parts of the world. I heard Florida the light is a little warmer and up north its a little cooler.
Hey Joe, I really enjoyed all your images at the end of the video. Also interesting to see how you have set up your camera. I got an X-T2, so no Classic Neg for me, but I think I'm going to either grab a X-E4 or X-Pro 3 in the next couple months. That classic neg just looks so good! Good video, I'm going to subscribe.
Great images and settings Joe. A little confused at 1:26 - you said Portra 400 film was good for bright, contrasty days, but at 1:36 it was also good for cloudy days. Did you mean Fuji 400H film for cloudy days/pastel greens? Or are you talking about a film simulation versus a film? Thanks.
Thanks for the watch and feedback and you are 100% correct. I messed that up. I meant 400H for overcast days.
Awesome sample Images Joe, the results are lovely
Thank you my friend.
Thanks a lot! Been waiting for this. Had such a similar feeling with loving what I see someone get out of Classic Neg. but never really dialed it in myself. I absolutely love the Fuji x100v, but I prefer the Kodak/Leica Palette when it comes to colors. So this is perfect!
Thank you for checking out the video. Good luck with the results.
Thank you, Joe. So helpful to get the best out of Classic Negative. Great images too.
Thank you Christian. Glad I could help
Out.
AWESOME
Hi Joe, love your recipes. Are you planning on adding any new ones?
When you put the fuji to continue mode Clarity automatically goes off ( back to 0 and does not apply on images)
Joe, thanks so much, I’ve been waiting for this. Setting it up right now. Beautiful images 📷🙏🏼
Thank you for watching. Again it’s not perfect but I’ve really enjoyed the results I’ve gotten.
Where are these street photos taken? I don't think I've ever seen beautiful American streets before. Evocative yes, beautiful no, and now I'm suspecting that Hollywood is to blame for that. Especially the photo with that shop called "Aunt Annie's Hand Rolled Pretzels". If I ever visit America again, I'd like to see that side.
Oh, and what's that music? Bill Evans? Great sax playing
Thank you so much. The bulk of these images and the ones mentioned were taken inside of Universal Studios Orlando while on family vacation.
thank you!!!!
perfect
YOU NAILED IT. I just purchased an X Pro 3 and the default classic neg is really contrasty and green. Will your recipe achieve the same results on my camera?
Thank you. I don’t see why not. It’s the same sensor. I used this on my own XPro 3 as well when I owned it.
@@JoeDAgostinoPhoto thanks for the reply. Subbed from Australia. Ciao!
Great Shoots, how do you have your shadow/highlight settings?
Thank you. When you have dynamic range priority set if cancels out the Highlights and Shadows settings. For more recipes try here.

I also added a recipe for Nostalgic Negative
Thanks for sharing this, especially on the DR Priority!
Is 6000K white balance is also applicable with indoor lighting?
Thanks for watching. For natural lighting I doors it works well. There were a few shots I think inside in natural light. Once the lights come on it can push a bit warm and may need adjustment.
Awesome photos. Can I get these settings on my X100f?
Hi! Did you make any adjustments since then?
I found that if u don't set the ISO to >= 400 you can't edit the HDR parameter in FujiX Studio.
Nice try with clarity setting, but it doesn't work :D
