Busstop chicane was actually named after a real busstop. There was not enough money to upgrade the track and the government only could invest in public transport so they physically made a busstop for extra money :)
As for Bus stop, I was told that the circuit tapped into a subsidy from the Wallon government to improve public transport. They wanted to upgrade the chicane, and found that they could get a grant if they would put a bus stop there. The gov’t however forgot to add to the prerequisites that there should be a bus running there. Some people claim that there was an actual bus stop next to the track for a couple of years, but I can’t confirm that.
All I know about Kemmel straight is that on the old circuit this part was more squiggely and the modern track has it “straightened out”. That explains part of the name
There’s a hill called “Kemmel” in the West-Flanders province of Belgium, named after the Celtic war god Camulos. Just speculating it may have something to do with the Kemmel straight.
Kemmelberg aka Mount Kemmel is also the only logic I see in the name…it also has a very steep hill with a long straight street once down or up…. Not sure though
So Spa-Francorchamps is named similar to many airports. Many airports have the name of the biggest city they are close to, but since the airport is actually in some smaller city/county/municipality, that name is thrown in there as well.
There are quite a few mistakes but nothing dramatic, I still enjoyed the video. Good work! Stavelot 2 / Paul Frère is also communly called "Le Raccordement" because it's the junction with the old track. (left side at the exit of the corner), it's also communly called "le karting" because it's next to the gokart track. I have never heared the last chicane being called "la nouvelle chicane", dunno where you found that one lol. And yes it's "la nouvelle chicane" and not "le nouveau chicane". Bloody french, I know.
Apparently, Kemmelberg is a hill formation (located 1km from the village Kemmel) , where one of the most ferocious battles of the first world war took place. Spa was built shortly after the war ended, so it kinda makes sense that they named the Kemmel curves (as they were back then) after a famous battleground? Maybe it has to do with the fact that Kemmelberg is a hill, so the name implies elevation? A website called overtsteer448 mentioned Kemmelberg, as in the hill, rather than Kennel the village as an inspiration for the name and it makes a bit more sense.

That does sound really Belgian to me!
You put way more effort into your videos than half of the f1 channels that just make up drama
Criminally underrated great video
This series is rlly interesting, would be cool to see one for Monza aswell!
Yeah but the only problem is that there are only like 2 turns and one of them literally means big turn lol
That's more than 25 Yuki Tsunoda's... Okay that one got me.
Pif paf is a french expression to significate the quick "right/left" gesture to do with the steering wheel !
It's an onomatopoeic term
"...more than 25 Yuki Tsunodas..." had me literally laugh out loud - and it's 1:30am and I'm by myself.
It wasnt that horrifying, but I'll have to say I didnt expect yuki tsunoda used to measure things. Pretty creative I have to say.

Man your production is insane!!! Always such a fan of these. Love the energy
I'm utterly shocked at how underrated this channel is! Amazing content with great production. Keep up the good work!
Great work
Paul Frère was also a well regarded autosport journalist. You can see him even in several old Michel Vaillant albums.
Kemmel is I think a reference to the Kemmelberg, a 'mountain' in Flanders. And it doesn't mean Camel in Dutch...
Mate slight correction Kemmel is nothing in Dutch, What you ment is Kameel. Although after some research Kemmel is a place in Belgium.
What a great moment to revisit this >D
Keep up the great content!🫵😀👍
Thanks for the great content! Keep it up! Can't wait for you to get the recognition you deserve
Its called: Kwik, kwek en kwak in dutch... Its from donald ducks franchise!
I can never tell if anything from the Netherlands is a joke or a serious coment...
I think Paul Frere’s greatest driving accomplishment was winning the 1960 24 Heures du Mans, driving with fellow Belgian Olivier Gendebien.
I really like this series. I would love it if you did my (and lots of drivers’) favorite track, Suzuka!

Apparently, according to Martin Brundle, No Name/Speakers/Jacky Ickx was also called Liege, after a nearby town.
Man I'd love for you to measure other track lengths or height differences with the size of a local or current driver 😂
In my head I like to think pouhon is named as such because any normal person going round it that fast would poo themselves
Make one about Monza
should have said the joke "thats radillion actually
1:07 for a surprise

Kemmel is a little town in Flanders actually but I would have on idea why the straight would be named after it
I also wanted to say I absolutely love these type of videos! and yes you definitely butchered the french names

I think if I can recall that kemmel was a tabaco company
So when will they rename a corner "Vandorne"? 🤔
I guess when he finishes higher than 7th in an F1 race
25 Yuki Tsunades 💀
