Congo President shuts down Macron at a press conference, Macron tries to deflect

- A tense moment was witnessed between President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) Felix Tshisekedi and French President Emmanuel Macron during a joint press conference held in Kinshasa on Saturday.
Tshisekedi stated that France and the West should abandon their imperious attitude towards Africa.
"Look at us differently by respecting us, by considering us as true partners and not always with a paternalistic look with the idea of always knowing what is necessary for us," Tshisekedi said, wagging his finger at Macron.
"Francafrique no longer exists. We must establish a policy of equals."

Talk is cheap, having a big mouth won’t earn you any independence. Having power would, and power is measured by military and economic influence, does Congo have any of those? Ask your self and this alone answers the question of independence. You need Europe without their consideration you could be colonized again.

That said your comment is a sentiment felt everywhere, in one's own country wishing our leaders would not be corrupt. And in hoping African countries have their place in the sun, it is also hoping African leaders will not be corrupt. And there is no example of this not being true.

I'm a German, and share absolutely your analysis (having lived abroad for some years, among that also half a year in South Africa). I think the vast majority of Europeans and Americans have still that imperialistic attitude without realizing it. But even worse are the politicians.
