20:20 That's wrong. The British prevented Indian industrialization by IP laws (that others like US, Japan, etc., could bypass by stealing technology, due to being sovereign), restrictive taxation, import tariffs, etc. As a result, Indians de-industrialized due to productivity gains in Britain making their goods cheaper in India, while the tech was kept with them. A lot of artisans went back to the farms due to this.
This is why Sashi Tharoor says India did not "miss the bus on industrial revolution", but was thrown under it by the British.

Its very hard for normal Indians educated in the mediocre education system of ours to have the capacity to hunt down primary sources and read and absorb knowledge from them and take field trips just to enhance your understanding of History. You have to take the word of intermediaries and popular RW speakers are those intermediaries. They spread the knowledge in condensed easy to digest form for the masses.

    PLUNDER ECONOMY
Extract from nadir shah plunder !
    Casualties
It has been estimated that during the course of six hours in one day, 22 March 1739, approximately 20,000 to 30,000 Indian men, women and children were slaughtered by the Afsharid troops during the massacre in the city.[9] Exact casualty figures are uncertain, as after the massacre, the bodies of the victims were simply buried in mass burial pits or cremated in grand funeral pyres without any proper record being made of the numbers cremated or buried. In addition, some 10,000 women and children were taken slaves, according to a representative of the Dutch East India Company in Delhi.[7]
    Plunder
It has been suggested that portions of this article be split out into another article titled Sack of Delhi. (Discuss) (June 2019)
Tavernier's illustration of the Koh-i-noor under different angles
The city was sacked for several days. An enormous fine of 20 million rupees was levied on the people of Delhi. Muhammad Shah handed over the keys to the royal treasury, and lost the Peacock Throne, to Nadir Shah, which thereafter served as a symbol of Persian imperial might. Amongst a treasure trove of other fabulous jewels, Nadir also gained the Koh-i-Noor and Darya-i-Noor ("Mountain of Light" and "Sea of Light," respectively) diamonds; they are now part of the British and Iranian Crown Jewels, respectively. Nader and his Afsharid troops left Delhi in the beginning of May 1739, but before they left, he ceded back all territories to the east of the Indus, which he had overrun, to Muhammad Shah.[10]
    Aftermath
The plunder seized from Delhi was so rich that Nadir stopped taxation in Persia for a period of three years following his return.[1][11] Nadir Shah's victory against the crumbling Mughal Empire in the East meant that he could afford to turn to the West and face the Ottomans. The Ottoman Sultan Mahmud I initiated the Ottoman-Persian War (1743-1746), in which Muhammad Shah closely cooperated with the Ottomans until his death in 1748.[12]
Nader's Indian campaign also alerted the British East India Company to the extreme weakness of the Mughal Empire and the possibility of expanding British imperial designs to fill the power vacuum.[13]

@@theybecameus What I wanted to understand is the point he made about "Asoka hollowing out the empire from the inside." Asoka's administration was known to be strong, very thorough, indeed very overpowering with a litany of laws and edicts.
Which is why I wanted to understand what he meant by that phrase. Was it ostentatious spending, spending on military, not generating enough revenue, not having enough talented people around, what could be the angle? Was there a buddhist angle? I am curious because I think abhijit hinted at a point which is important to understand why Asoka's empire collapsed so dramatically and completely after his death - within 15 years if I am not mistaken.

Kabir khan - "mughal are the founding fathers of our culture"
It's like there is nothing in bharat before mughals, ppl didn't know agriculture, nor did they know shit about architecture music cuisine and languages

If someone constructs mausoleum to perpetuate his wife's and to lie in the cellar after his death ,Though beautiful but at a great cost, who is richer. No one ,but only the Hindus were losers because the Mughal dynasty basked in the glory which is understandable, but there is an ironical and ridiculous side to it. It is when the Muslims converted from Hindu culture with their castes mostly from depressed background start feeling that they are also heir to and have this illusory sense of sharing the Invaders glory, the complicated part of history unfolds. While an Arab from Arabian peninsula is free from such complexity ,he would be amused. Islam is a response as a solution to the problems of Arabia, so he is like a fish in the water, but the Muslims of Indian sub-continent,Iran,Malaysia, Indonesia have to live in a different setting ,this aspect was touched by Nobel Laureate for literature late V S Naipaul in two of his books -Beyond the Belief and Among the Believers. The Mughals may have created ,wealth but squandered on themselves by constructing monuments and on women and Eunuchs and in luxury .

Any ruler will have to have some luxury, exhibition and vulger exhibition of wealth and some revenue 3. Thats what mughals did 4. Brits also did some developmental good to India (Not to bharath varsh) 5. So, please stop fukng praise of mughals or their culture or wealth or anything. Nothing they did. 6. This dialogue has to happen..openly ...between hindu masses...so the sleeping ones wake up from their dream called "sicularism" and stand up for themselves and their community. Sanatani rashtra is a must..and for that to happen we ought to have this "dialogue ". Hindus have to wake up and unite. Truth needs to get uncovered.
      May dharma prevail

Firstly, Indians love to hate their history, unlike any other nation on Earth. Secondly, you cannot judge events 350 years earlier by todays standards. This talk is doing precisely that. It is quite clear from history, that India acquired immense wealth during the reign of Moghuls, that it had not seen in previous 1500 years. No bags of money or gold were taken back to Fergana. What ever was earned in 350 year of Moghuls, remained in India. While the British plundered & left India in wretched poverty, Mughal reign gave prosperity to India with 25% of world GDP. While hating Mughals/Muslims, India seems to be crawling at the feet of British.

We dont hate either muslims or our history. We love Abdul Kalam , Abdul Hamid vir ( pls Google to know details) and respect true history not falsified n make believe history started by left n cyphillius suffering nehru. Mughals in India simply taken the existing structures, killed the natives and made cosmetic changes in the structure and presented it as a minaret n mosque etc.. Mughals did not create wealth they just plundered natives wealth. Weakness : lack of unity which they explored. Now the consciousness is raised n unity getting stronger , people like you try to do false propaganda. If you have intellectual capacity, present your arguments in a coherent way as in the above video or as in comments with a counter point. Dont just type baloney. If you are from Pakistan, let us just leave it here, no more dialogue with you. Pls live happily in that gutter .
