Well I mean with current strategies it’s possible to beat it, it’s just nobody wants to because of how long it will take to. It’s like how sub 1:45 on glitch is possible but nobody wants to do it because it’d be too hard.
It's crazy how little value shrooms are able to provide on rainbow road no glitch compared to most other tracks. Toad's factory no glitch is the only example I can think of, where it is even worse.

Believe it or not, but hopping into the cannon is actually a timesave. I land a bit further ahead from the cannon saving a few milliseconds. I forgot to explain the speedometers in the description, so I'll add that asap EDIT: Description updated
@Noah Cheng that’s just a coincidence because he used slightly different strats on both laps. This is theoretically improveable to like a mid 2:14 if every possible strat that’s known is used
@Noah Cheng watch it in 0.25x or 0.5x speed, plus it should be even more obvious if you play them side by side - things like the very end of the downhill section (two hops instead of one), the wavy section (which is and should be better on lap 2 than lap 3), the first ring double trick (no wheelie trigger lap 2 and a wheelie trigger lap 3), the last ramp trick section (realign clip on lap 3, lowclip lap 2), and the last turn of the lap (lap 3 doesn’t have to align for the next lap so is faster and lap 2 has to align for the next lap so is slower)

Do the turn skips count as glitches? If yes, then I would replace the (no glitch) in the title with (no ultra shortcut).
They don't. That's like saying that the DK Summit double shortcut or the Mushroom Gorge gap jump is a glitch (which is incorrect).
There is a community post that agrees on which scs/strats are considered ng/glitch/no ultra iirc.
