This is sad. Parents that won't take a bit of responsibility for a dam thing. Teach your kids, don't rob, be respectful. He would still be alive. Your parenting got him killed. That's the dam truth.

This has nothing to do with racism or police violence. A big and strong man robbed a store and attacked store owner. He later resisted officer's commands and even attacked an officer. He was well aware that police carry guns and what consequences attacking an officer could bring. I have no clue why the hell sparks such debates and hatred between people. A criminal attacked an officer (who has never used his gun before) and got killed. That's it.
His parents are completely unwilling to face the fact that their son robbed a store and then attacked a police officer! I wonder if they even knew where their son was at all times?! Apparently not! There are several witnesses of all different races that corroborate what the officer stated happened. I don't care if someone is white, black, brown, whatever....if they are wrong, they are wrong! He was a little punk thug that got what he deserved! What comes around goes around! If you rob stores and commit crimes daily then one day it is going to catch up with you! On a human level, I feel these parents' pain. I can see that they're hurting deeply about the loss of their son. That said, I can completely understand being in complete denial of the facts. I mean, how else can you explain her saying "a big if something happened in that store". She, like everyone else saw the footage. Her son robbed the store in a violent manner.
Everyone wants to believe their children are angels that could do no wrong. Fact of the matter is, her son was a thug with a rap sheet. Rather than blaming their son for his actions (and at some level, their failure as parents to instill the right values), they want to blame someone else.
I'm sorry their son is dead... but it had NOTHING to do with racism, and EVERYTHING to do with their son being a criminal with zero respect for the law or law enforcement.

His DNA was on the inside of the police car after the first shots fired from in the car where he fought with Officer Wilson and his finger that was injured contained soot which meens that he was trying to grab the gun. I don't see how anyone could make light of a mother's pain. I don't condone stealing or robbing anyone. Right is right and wrong is wrong. But let's be real, if every teenager was gunned down for petty theft there would be thousands of dead teenagers! Young black men are not the only group of people who rebel. Even if he was raised by "criminals" Officer Wilson's account of the incident does not match the evidence. He wasn't even aware of what Mike Brown did at the cigar store. Even he did, Mike Brown should still be alive. It's funny how every young black boy deserves to die but when it comes to your own race, it's a different story. Wilson changed parts of his story up several times. He claimed Mike Brown beat him up, but he had no bruising. The autopsy report does not match Wilson's statement.

We've got to do better with our decisions, lives and our children. I often wonder what the outcome would be if Michael Brown had been shot by a black police officer. Would it even be in the media like this? Or, would it just be a typical consequence in the hood? I'm black and I have a couple of police officers in my family (father, brother & cousin). Trust me, the average citizen has NO IDEA of what these officers have to go through... a lot of unnecessary and life threatening stuff EVERYDAY. I'm sorry, but when a suspect tries to go after a police officer's gun, it's a big deal to them, especially a really large person like a Michael Brown. What kind of behavior is that? Hey, I got to speak the truth here...I feel a lot of people are pissed cause a white officer shot Michael Brown.
Let's put this into perspective. How about if we reverted Michael Brown's position/ change places - Michael as a cop and Wilson as the guy who has no fear, no respect for the cop and wants to challenge the officer.
If Michael was the cop and he repeatedly told the white guy who now is bigger than Michael (6.4 - suppose now Michael is shorter 2 inches and slimmer) and the Wilson is (6.6 - a heavier white guy like a football player) to STOP multiple times as the white guy goes toward the officer Michael to tackle, what would Michael do? Shoot or await for the white guy to punch him and probably take Michael's gun? Can you imagine? I am sure Mrs. Brown would say: SHOOT the white guy who is going to kill my son!!! I hope people see this side of the story.
We DO NOT KID around police. We should respect, obey and not challenge or tackle the officer at ALL TIMES. We do not wrestle against police, we do not tease, joke around. I have no troubles with police when I just comply with what they ask like give my driver's license and registration when they stop me and ask for them when I violate a traffic situation. Police are serious and not to play around. So, Please, do not confront, joke around, tackle or be disrespectful. They will treat you the same way you treat them. It is easier to take sides when you look only one side. We must learn to put ourselves in someone else's shoes. It is clear that Michael's mom has no clue of her son's violent and confronting behavior...and also stealing from convenience store.

Ashley Smith Ah, youth. I can only guess that is the reason for your naivete. I remember those days. Age and experience has taught me - as it will eventually teach you - that wishing for a perfect world won't make it so. There are too many people fighting hard to keep it imperfect.One day you will understand that harmony between the races ebbs and flows. Just as on 9/12/2001. It was, in effect, a horrible day which found us all glued to our television sets and mourning the loss of over 3000 Americans. Simultaneously, it was also something of a beautiful day, in that, for the first time in many years, none of us saw color, religion or sexual orientation in one another. We were suddenly, and brilliantly, all just "Americans." It was "us" against "them" ("them" being the outsiders who came into OUR country in an attempt to destroy US). It lasted but for a moment in time, but that marvelous moment is remembered by most of us. Regardless of our biases on 9/10/2001, they were instantly forgotten and we banded together as one nation. I'm not sure if you are old enough to remember that historical moment, but you can take my word for it. It happened. I understand that what you are seeing in Ferguson is probably upsetting and confusing for you. It is for many of us, but if you cut out the hysteria and the accusations of racism, and just boil it down to the facts, you may have an easier time of understanding what is happening. There are some awful people in this world. People who profit financially and emotionally from the division of the races, and they are the people who scream the loudest - effectively drowning out the voices of those of us, like you and me, who dream of a day when the color of one's skin is immaterial. While it would seem, because of those shrieking race baiters, that there is a disproportionate racism of whites against blacks, it is a fallacy (that means "falsehood"). Darren Wilson is/was an honest, and most honorable, police officer. It's ludicrous that Leslie McSpadden thinks he wanted to kill someone!! (That's truly crazy.) Wilson had just come from a sick BABY call, for God's sake! He'd never used his weapon in all his years as a police officer! Her precious little 290-pound son would have pummeled him to death, or shot him dead, or beat him to death on the street had Officer Wilson not managed to shoot the fiend dead about two steps before Brown could deliver a head-on tackle.

The racists can cite the convenience store video all they want, but the ambiguity of what happens in that video makes it less than clear a burglary was going on, especially considering the store clerk did not report a robbery. And as for Brown supposedly punching Darren Wilson hard enough to almost kill him, the photos of the officer's virtually non-existent injuries belie any notion of Brown being a threat to his life. The 1.9 metre teen, who was only several centimetres taller than Wilson, retreated and fled when Officer Wilson fired the first two shots, who then proceeded to pursue him firing another 10, eliminating the notion that after Wilson exited the vehicle Michael Brown was the aggressor.
There is nothing that Michael Brown did that justified Wilson shooting him dead.

She has a hard time believing he would provoke a police officer or attempt to intimidate one...when he is caught ON TAPE doing this shortly before this encounter? Does she know her son, or is she in denial about how he tended to behaved? Or does she know her son and not want to admit how he was, because it would support Officer Wilson's story--which she does not want because either way, it resulted in her son's death? I find it hard to believe that SHE has a hard time to believe he would not behave in such a manner...when the whole world has seen he had the capacity to behave in such a manner.
