    Well done Mr Harvey for tackling a very serious yet sensitive topic in such a caring and professional manner. May our thoughts and prayers be with Mike Brown and let's hope justice prevails for his family and those of us following the case.

      When people try to justify Mike Brown's death or state that it is not race related are either in denial or extremely ignorant. Either way I will not tolerate this foolishness on my post and have already deleted a couple of comments as a result.
      There is no EXCUSE to murder an unarmed man it is purely pathetic to suggest otherwise especially when the man is in a position of surrender.
      Those who do not feel empathy or any level of sympathy for Mike Brown his family and community will not be acknowledged by me.

    • @Stormr69
      @Stormr69 10 лет назад

      R Sosa So, from your comments I gather that you don't think the officer may have been defending himself from a thug who just committed an strong-arm robbery and panicked when the police officer approached him? Even though the autopsy report and the medical records back up the officer and the only evidence to the contrary is the work of a drug dealer?

    • @MrSosa35
      @MrSosa35 10 лет назад +2

      Stormr69 My details may be a little off as I haven't been following the case recently due to a number of commitments. However I did manage to follow the case from very early on. And there were multiple eye witness accounts of what occurred on the day shortly after the unfortunate incident.
      Some of these observers were city workers and members of the community.
      Many of which stated that Mike Brown was in a position of surrender prior to being shot multiple times.
      I could possibly understand the stance of defence had Mike Brown of been in possession of a weapon but he wasn't. In regards to the theft of the cigarettes it wasn't armed robbery as you suggested as Mike Brown wasn't armed. And neither was this reported to the police at the time Mike Brown was stopped by the officer in question.
      The fact the officer acted with such severity is alarming considering the officer should be fully trained in dealing with such instances. It says a lot about your police force in the US it appears to me that you are somehow trying to justify the officers actions.

    • @Stormr69
      @Stormr69 10 лет назад +1

      R Sosa Since the police report and the autopsy report both say that Brown was shot while attacking the officer. honestly that is good enough for me.
      I don't have to condemn or justify the officers actions. The courts do that.
      What I do have a problem with is when people who do not pay any attention to the facts and go crazy about what some people have 'said' and use that as a justification for groups of people to riot, burn, loot, and threaten violence.
      The level of violence he used is extreme yes, but it is also justified, since if he was in fear for his life he would be completely in the right to use deadly force.
      Put it this way. Why would an officer, with 8 years of exemplary service, suddenly decide to kill Brown in broad daylight and in front of all those witnesses? He has no motive to do it. Brown's friend who followed the officers commands to get on the ground didn't get shot. But why not? He was a witness and could accuse the officer. If the officer was just killing a black kid he had a chance to get another one.
      Is it sad an eighteen year old got killed? Yes! but allot of the responsibility for it has to be assigned to Brown. And that is backed up by the facts of the autopsy.
      But Jackson and the others who showed up just to throw gas on an already volatile situation show just who they are. Opportunists who will slander anyone and say anything as long as they remain in the spotlight and people will listen to them.

    • @MrSosa35
      @MrSosa35 10 лет назад

      Stormr69 It only stands to reason that the police report would collude with the same theory as one of it's officers. This is hardly surprising in such matters an independent report should be sanctioned from a group that doesn't hold ties to the police for purposes of non bias.
      As for the courts, history has shown that favour generally leans towards the police in such cases. I mean what do you expect when you have a majority white jury judge etc. Look at the judicial system in America it's no secret that minorities make up the highest rate of incarceration. It is a system that is flawed and generally considered backwards by the rest of the world.
      The reason behind the rioting etc is because these types of cases happen too frequently. Once every 28 hours to be exact whereby a person of colour meets their demise at the hands of law enforcement. If this were an isolated case I could understand but it isn't and unfortunately it will not be the last.
      As to why an officer with 18 years exemplary decides to use such action whose to say only a psychiatrist report could determine that.
      It's sad that cases like this are generally restricted to black males over in the US. And if six shot's do not seem obsessive to you then I have to question one's mental rationality.
      I personally am not a huge fan of Jesse Jackson but in cases like this you do tend to get those who will see an opportunity to benefit their own interest.

      The store owner said nothing was stolen, and even then Darren Wilson didn't know anything about the "stolen items" when he pulled up to Brown, and his friend. And even if Michael had stolen something he did not deserve to die the way he did. Stealing is not punishable by death. If you want to try justify the murder of a black teenager by a trigger happy white cop by saying he was guilty of something then you go ahead. Whatever helps you sleep at night.

    All I have to say is a Police officer should never make assumptions, because all of these deaths of Black young males have been because the police officer assumed something. You can't spend your life assuming things until you see the truth. The police officer didn't see Mike Brown have a gun of any sort, but he just assumed and shot the trigger. If everybody assumed no one will get anywhere. America needs to have better Police officers who are reliable when doing their jobs, because these police officers aren't doing their job right. I bet the police officer even feels guilty of what he did but it's too late now since he just assumed something without really seeing if its true. RIP Mike Brown and for his family let God be with them through this time of struggle. It sad that Mike's mother lost her child due to a police officer assumption.

    • @DesmiraeAion

      Nathan T. You need to rethink your entire existence if you honestly think that's what happened. A trained police officer can use other physical tactics to stop any kind of assault, especially WHEN THERE IS NO WEAPON INVOLVED ON THE OTHER HALF.

    • @mouna3242
      @mouna3242 10 лет назад +2

      Nathan T. No your wrong it was confirmed that Mike Brown didn't have a gun and the police officer mistook that he did. Did you not see the news headlines? All reporters of the news have been saying a unharmed teenage boy has been shot by a police man since he thought he was carrying a gun. Why would Mike Brown just go and attack a police man for no reason? Since a cop is allowed to attack under self defence, why would Mike Brown decide to attack?. So your wrong.

      We don't have that type of police abuse on black folks here in Rockdale county Georgia. I have been on ride a longs, viewed men and women being arrested at gunpoint while stopped at a local gas station. I have two fishing buddies who are in law enforcement and they are not mean to the blacks they pull over or confront while on duty. I just don't either see it going on nor do we read about it in our local paper nor online at many blogs written about street life here in Atlanta. Yes there are bad apples in society. I have been threatened by a huge black coworker 20 years ago because I was going to tell on him for his sexual harassment of a female coworker. He threatened my life! But I still to this day go fishing with his good friend Glen because I am a man of God. Had MB mom sought a Christian life this whole mess would have never happened.

Sad that is what we have come to but we as a nation and as parents cant not just sit back and let our children suffer and die inhuman we must teach and lead our children. ThunderAppeal I don't go on social media and go back and forth with unknown factors in this world but you should have never commented to me. I highly do not think that if this was a family member or your child you will not feel the way this family feels especially since you are white and if it was a black officer. We all know what way that result would come out to be. Everyone has a right to say what they want but let me correct you 1) I am far from ignorant 2) I am not black but am proud to fully embrace being a minority 3) Who are you people that you refer to? 4) What are you doing to change the crime rate for white America? 5) The ignorant society you surround yourself goes hand and hand and until we (my minority people) get society and ourselves to see life differently this conversation will continue to go. So I say to you take a look at yourself and ask your self how ignorant are you and how can you change your views on minority people? What are you doing for your people??

    I feel sorry for the mother, but this doesn't change the situation. 8 (black) witnesses support Wilson's story, contradicting the 7 witnesses supporting Brown's story. Brown wasn't a humble kid, but had just robbed a store and bullied the store owner before confronting Wilson. Brown wasn't an innocent little kid either, but a huge 6.4. guy that had attacked Wilson in his car with his fists, tried to get hold of Wilson's gun and refused arrest before being shot. The autopsy report confirmed Wilson's story while not supporting the story that the Brown camp advocates. Wilson never had any issue with race in all of his professional life before this story came up. Let's start looking at the facts people. Justice is not equatable with just hanging someone from the tree no matter what.

      Regardless of him being a robber or not, there is no real reason to shoot him, especially in the upper body 6 times. A police officer is usually assisted by another, they shouldn't be going to these type of cases by themselves (not sure if there were 2 officers or just the 1) so they could've easily tackled & handcuffed him or called in for more assistance to follow up the arrest. The fact that he shot him 6 times shows a personal issue towards the victim. This has been said in most man slaughter cases by coroners. He did not follow simple police conduct and brought personal issues into his job. In my opinion, he deserves to be punished more than a regular murderer because he manipulated his job for killing a man.

    • @suneku78
      @suneku78 10 лет назад +1

      ***** Brown just didn't do "something stupid". While Wilson was still stitting in his car - trapped -, Brown punshed him nearly unconcous while trying to grab Wilson's gun. This is confirmed by the autopsy report, which indicates that Brown was shot in the finger (while wresting with Wilson for his gun, as explained by Wilson in his testimony). After being shot in the finger, Brown moved away. What was Wilson supposed to do? Let the guy go who had just severely beaten a police officer and attempted to take his gun away? Wilson got out of the car and - rightly so - told Brown to freeze. Brown again did not comply to police orders but approached Wilson again, who then shot Brown in self-defense. The 6 shots can be explained by the anxiety that Wilson felt when Brown approached. If you can hold Wilson accountable for something then that he didn't keep his cool and tried to control Brown with pepper spray or his baton. Here I can see that the Brown camp actually had a valid point. However, unfortunately for them, they didn't advocate for that but went with the "cold blooded cop killer story" instead, which naturally didn't work, as this wasn't backed by the evidence.

    • @Starbright1197
      @Starbright1197 10 лет назад

      Actually, there is video footage of Brown paying for his cigarillos and the store clerk even confirmed that Brown had payed for them. Also, Brown's fingerprints were NOT found on Wilson's weapon. Additionally, the injuries you speak of only consisted of what Wilson wanted to call bruising, but is in fact a rare birthmark, and a small cut on his chin. The released reports that were presented to the grand jury before the decision confirm all of these points. Trust me, I read every page.

    Very well said Steve, thanks for being such a balanced and strong voice for the black community especially about this topic at that point of time.

    I know what its like to lose someone like that, though not at the hands of a cop. The pain inflicted is unimaginable and the weight of it is heavy. The only thing that will cure it is prayer and time. It gets better and less heavy, but it will never go away. My prayer is the the peace of the Lord will be upon the Brow/Mcspadden family.

    I had to pause the video a few times so that I can hear what she was saying due to my own cries on behalf of her and her family. This is so sad.

    Her pain was so raw, so visible. Absolutely heartbreaking, heartbreaking. There are no words to describe what this woman is going through.
    I just can't even imagine, I have 4 boys, 16, 13 & 1/2, 8 and 2 & 1/2, and God please, please never let anything like this happen to my babies.
    It hurts my soul when I see this happening. It just can't happen anymore, it can't. Something has to change, the mindset of the people have to change. We can't look at "well what was he doing?" if he's unarmed and been shot it doesn't matter. Another mother can't lose her baby because a police man "though he was a threat."

      Gothmummi nothing won't happen to them if they cooperate and have appropriate respect towards the police and didn't try to reach of their guns or violently attack them and you know if you was a police officer and someone was armed you would kill them you know if you had a gun on you and someone was attacking you you would pull it out and them quit fronting

    Michael seemed to be a cool kid. I could have easily wanted to be friends with this guy. A lot of bad things always happen to the best of us. Michael didn't deserve to lose his life.
