@@SquatUniversity Do you think you could explain what was causing his pain? Obviously a stability issue but I feel like this case is different than your normal ones.
@@newtonroberts590 presumably his glut medialis was not engaged on the left side whilst squatting, this means the femur isn't stabilised properly so there's stress on the knee joint which shouldn't be there. The band is pulling the knee inwards which requires the glut med to contract to prevent this, which is why it's reducing pain. His glut med wasn't weak, just wasn't working in coordination during the squat for some reason.
Hey, I have the same problem with pain, except its in both of my shins (well, the tibialias anteriors) and I've tried doing this exercise, I managed 14 inches with both legs. I feel a sharp pain in both the shins when I squat down to around 90 degrees, although I have great hip mobility. So, do you have any idea what could be causing this? I'm asking you this since you seem quite knowledgeable about the subject, and tbh, I'm pretty desperate.
GODDAMN IT THANKS. IT JUST HAPPENED TO ME 2 MONTHS AGO AND I'VE BEEN SUFFERING HAHAHAHA. I tried looking for anyone else who had this exact problem but I didn't find it. Then SU came for the rescue. Thanks!
Another very interesting case and I like your intervention exercises as always. But as a PT I’m still curious on what was the underlying problem with your pt’s shin. Was it compartment syndrome maybe?
I've watched a lot of squat University by now. and it's usually one side isn't as mobile as the other. so when the mobility tests didn't show this, I didn't know what would happen next.
I would love to find a coach/physical therapist as knowledgable as you here in Denmark. It's just tough in a country, where the people aren't very good at advertising for themselves.
Pretty amazing. I did this drill and, after a few reps, there was a little pop in my knee and things felt right again. Sure enough, I could do a BW squat pain free a few moments later! Love this channel.
Bro this is my same issue, I have that exact pain when deep squatting, I am gonna try this. I am seriously considering flying out to wherever you're located and spending a month at your facility to fix my form issues...
I have the same issue, but behind de knee, (Maybe popliteus) sometimes I feel pain on a half squat position, exactly in the flesh that is around the head's tibia, sometimes in the flesh behind de knee
Hey so I got my shin splints in both leg a by barbell squatting my knees caved in and it was like almost a injury. Now I still have them 2 years later and advice ? I got x rayed nothing
Will there be a video about chest pain from costochondritis when doing bench/dips I can't bench over 50 kg anymore and I was doing over 70 (I know its not much but it is for me) Use to do dips on ring, but now I can't even hold my self in vertical position
I also can only do a pistol squat with my right leg even though I am left-footed(I can't maintain my balance). Is there something I can do about it?(I don't have equipment)
Damn I have this same thing going on where my right leg won’t corkscrew into the ground. Been like that 3 years since I tore my hip labrum. Lots of inner and outer pinching in my tfl. I’m close to getting my deep squat, but can’t figure it out…😢
I generally believe this guy is a wizard, but I'm here for it
it’s absolutely crazy 😂
The only guy in the gym that has a valid excuse to skip leg-day, and now he fixed it
Man rejected a gift
That's quite an unusual case! Was he able to perform the touch down without pain in the first place and then progress accordingly?
The first day he couldn’t do a touchdown on a 4” height without pain but could if we used the band
Must have been a really rewarding result 👏 👍 Amazing how many and diverse issues can a pistol squat reveal!

I love it. I deal with shoulder pain when doing OHP. And it always blows me away how the correction is usually for a weak muscle

Had the same issue recently. Decided to incorporate single leg squats before my workout; worked like magic
I have the same problem for several years. Thank you I will try this.
Love this channel, never a video without good info

SAME i was like yup, that guy is lost :D
It’s like a game show to me now, if he shows that they’re mobile as hell I’m yelling in my mind “STABILITY ISSUE, STABILITYYYY”
Fixing people constantly! Great video

Dude, Alex, I'm happy for you bro!
I’m buying tyr shoes just to support squat university. All of this information is life changing to some people. Thank you
I be downloading this knowledge into my brain like DLC update.
bout to fuckaround and become he-man
Thanks for the review man really helpful and would think to get a pair of these

Your testing methods and understanding of what that means is nuts
Good analysis
Dude
I love these vids

Brilliant...
Finally I see
Someone with the same problems !! Thx for this video!
I’m same situation with this guy. No matter what exercise I’ve done, It gotten worse even I couldn’t sleep with it.
I have the pain same but it is generated from sprinting
What was the primary cause for the shin pain?
Overcompensation for stability in that muscle maybe
I got the same thing its not that bad yet but im gonna start doing these stability movements
Thanks I’m exited to try this
That short leg gets us all
Hey so I got my shin splints in both leg a by barbell squatting my knees caved in and it was like almost a injury. Now I still have them 2 years later and advice ? I got x rayed nothing
That's awesome
Mirabai Chanu 🙏💯
One of these days I might have to talk to you. I always feel like my right knee is going to blow out when I do squats at D-1 adult power classes
How does the exercise you prescribed worked?
If you have patellar instability, what should you do to help?
I thought about it and I think it was the medial hamstring on the bad leg or posterior abductor and same leg.
First time in my life i searched a problem on yt and someone else has the exact same problem. I guess i’ll try this and report back later.

I can't bench over 50 kg anymore and I was doing over 70 (I know its not much but it is for me)
Use to do dips on ring, but now I can't even hold my self in vertical position
Is this due to imbalances in the strength and flexibility of the glute medius on either side?
Is There any other exercises i can do
I have low back pain on left side at the age of 16 for almost 2 months the pain occurs while lifting things and bending
Do you have any tips
I have the same issue but the area is closer to my knee as well as the upper side shin
My knees crunch and crack when I do squats and lunges. It isn't fun. I have to stick to hip sleds...
What is this practice called? Is he just a personal trainer?
Can you give me something for chronic compartment syndrome or shin splints? Sucks not being able to run for more than a few minutes.
I have shin pain in bone, back of my forearm
I also can only do a pistol squat with my right leg even though I am left-footed(I can't maintain my balance). Is there something I can do about it?(I don't have equipment)
can u fix my marriage
so what was his problem called?
I always thought we needed a chiropractor to fix it, but this guy convinced me it's about the muscle
Ok but what can I do if I can’t one leg squat
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Lol got something similar going on myself
So it was an issue in tibial rotation?
But what is the cause then?
Weak glute medius/hip stability on the affected side
This is why I'd like a personal trainer to also be a physical therapist. But I'd likely need need to be a millionaire to afford them.
I can't squat because of feet pain
maybe the core?
Fix me! Please! ❤👍🏼
bro, i figuratively got the same tibialis tool made out of water pipes too lol i thought im the only one in the universe
