She certainly looks different than the European version which is an absolute breeding desaster, with snouts too short to breathe properly, legs too short to run, and the back of their heads too short to hold their brains! Average lifespan 5 to 6 years. I was surprised Stonnie would take one out at all, but I see this is a healthy, rather wonderful dog! Pleasant surprise!🎉
My CKCS passed just 3 weeks ago today. You have to remember though, CKCS's were originally bred to be working/hunting dogs for small prey, so in the end it comes down to how they're raised as to whether or not they do well out doors or prefer the quiet indoor life. Mine loved to be outdoors, even when I told her it's time to go home, she knew the routes and paths so she always tried to pull me in a different direction just to keep staying out instead of going home. I sometimes regretted when I told her "you lead and I'll follow".....you wouldn't think a little dog would go so far, she took me on a nearly 10 mile hike with half the stops ending up at the shops where she knew she could get sausages xD
@@MsErinStyles I'm talking history of the breed, they were initially a working dog until they went through the breeding process to become what we know of today. And yes, they can still have have prey drive towards small critters if they're not trained properly.
Haha I have a Blenheim princess too, she would give me disapproving looks when she had to go to the bathroom on wet grass. 😂 Cavaliers are just so precious, I call mine my mute child - never complains and rarely barks, so well behaved and patient. Look this video!
Bonnie is my second CKCS- she’s gone thru therapy dog training and comes with me everyday to assist with Seniors with dementia. They LOVE her and provide so much comfort to the residents where I work. My boyfriend has a two-year old Chocolate Lab and Bonnie does not care for Lucy’s high energy. But loves to hang out with his old, limping, rescued Pit Bull…. My dream is to retire in a year and we’re buying a few acres in Northern California to humanely breed CKCS’s…. Love this video and how well Stonnie works with the assortment of dogs.

I’m a psychologist and trained my cav to do animal assisted therapy with my trauma patients. He’s was a legend! Plus he loved nothing more than backpacking and paddling with me. Absolute legend and furry love of my life. He passed last yr at 13. Waiting for a new cav pup due after the holidays.
This was super interesting. All my cavaliers have been able to hold their own with any other dog. They may be smaller but they LOVE swimming, getting muddy and having fun! They were all male so not sure if that is relevant. I find they are a smaller dog with a big dog spirit. One swam so far into the ocean once that I had to strip down and go get him. I miss him.
Stonnie needs to add a People Training Camp to teach us owners how to integrate getting out in the wilderness and partying with our dogs into our daily lives 😆 I struggle on and off with my disability, but this gorge walking seems so therapeutic!!
Our Cavalier behaves like yours. he doesn't stay with the group, but explores independently. So unfortunately he needs a towline. But we love him so much! Greetings from Germany!
I have a Cavalier and he is wonderful. Very active dog, loves to run, chase birds, cats, basicly anything moving reason why I can't take him off leash when we go for walks. I'm still working on his training and paying attention to me. This breeds gets easly distracted. I love him and wish he had a play mate.
Your black labs are beautiful! ❤️ I’m on a waitlist for one right now. My cavalier and English lab are only a couple weeks apart in age and came home to us within a month of each other, they have by far been the most amazing breeds to own, especially together. Such loyal and loving dogs.
Well you certainly know your Cavvies! We have a ‘rescue’ male cavvies and he is just as you described! I nicknamed him ‘the Velcro dog!’ Absolutely a gorgeous lap dog that loves to go for short walks. Definitely likes to ‘ride’ in the car, so he is with us. His best bud was a miniature poodle, sadly he has since passed away. We nicknamed the poodle ‘the leaping lizard’ such an energy contrast to our cavvie, and yet they loved each other. We had a CKCS as a family dog when I was younger, neither of my parents had had dogs before, and he was perfect as a first dog. Not hard to train, could walk quite long distances happily but also satisfied by a walk round the block. Not completely without drive- ours did bolt off after a deer once and just loved to be nose down. Small, easy to move around and not really overly needy or clingy but happy to cuddle too. Not enough dog for me now but really good for a family in my opinion. Maybe in my old age? loved seeing all of you down in the creek- happy days!

Hey this was really great and really liked your style. Not too much, just pushing Miley gently out of her comfort zone and giving her the confidence and reassurance she needed to do it on her own.
I’m so happy to see you taking out a CKCS for an adventure. We have a 3 year old CKCS Lucy who is the best companion. I just got back from 3 hours of paddle boarding with her. She is a princess but she also loves to be with her people and is game for anything. We spend half our time in a city where she gets a 3 mile walk in the morning off leash in Central Park and has a dog walker take her out twice a day for 30 minute walks while we are at work. The other half of the time we are at our house where our half acre yard is plenty big enough for her to play fetch, she loves going to the beach to chase birds and swimming after her ball. We also take her on vacation with us since she can come on the plane in her carrier. She has been hiking in Sedona, running on the beaches in Organ and Florida and is cute enough to be snuck into the pools at 5 star hotels, and top restaurants in Napa. Cavaliers are such a great breed, for me perfect!

Then when we are relaxing he will snuggle up in my lap. Perfect dog for me! Your 4.5 weeks were tough on him and sure made him a happy dog! Your gorge is beautiful!
I’ve had Labs, Cavaliers, Boston Terriers, cocker Spaniels, a Bouvier des Flander (for a while). All super for their own self, but Boston Terriers are the whole thing. Now I have a tri color Cav. and a Boston. I’m old. 15 different dogs. One husband👀🥰🇺🇸‼️
Hoping you’ll do a Jack Russell series soon. Looking to get a small dog with a big dog personality and think the Jack Russell might fit the bill. Thanks!!
We always had a lab and a shi tzu when I was growing up. My parents still always keep that combination. Shi tzus are pretty tough little dogs. Love to roll around with the labs.
Love Molly. I have a cavalier, poodle mix named Ollue. He has a lot in common with Molly. It's great she has those friends to play with. Mine loves to get out but doesn't walk far . Need to find a creek for him to try swimming.
Love how you always thread in common sense child easing with dog raising. I’ve met my fair share of princesses who were perfectly capable. Nothing wrong with having preferences and other areas you excel as long as you’re smart and know you can always take care of yourself if needed. Taught incompetence hurts everyone! Dogs too.
Always had a soft spot for cavalier King Charles, lovely to see one in the great outdoors! Do all dogs eventually get to like, or at least get used to, swimming? I’ve a working dog lacking in confidence and often reluctant to try new things, I can “assist” him into the water but wonder is it worth persevering with something he’s very uncomfortable with if he’ll never end up enjoying himself.
All it is is a matter of practice and learning the water isn't going to hurt him, if you haven't already make it fun and throw a stick, dive in too and just have some fun. Get muddy and get dirty and let him enjoy the experience.
I have a King Charles Cavalier ( male 1 1/2 y.o.) that would totally be at home with your pack. His name is Charlie and he absolutely LOVES big dogs. loves the water and is a major fan of long hikes on our local bush trails( we do daily hikes of 6-7+ kms ) I'm 70 so I often have to tap out on the distance we cover once it starts to exceed 8 kms ( like Miley his nose is to the ground on the hunt) He hit the water first time and loves to swim...I have to admit I never really babied him and I think it's paid dividends and I have the greatest little "wingman" any senior could hope for! Great video and I love to see how your getting Miley out of her "Princess Pants" and truly enjoying being a dog!!
I love Cavalier King Charles spaniels. Of course I have a soft spot for spaniels. My first dog was a sheltie cocker spaniel cross and my second dog was a springer spaniel lab cross. Something about those soft spaniel, eyes and ears that I just love.
My cavalier is a get up and go dog. He loves being around big dogs. I feel like female cavaliers tend to be more timid. My male is about 20lbs & nothing can slow him down.
I have a cockalier (king charles x cocker spaniel). He’s extremely sassy but also sweet at the same time. He seems to be able to keep up with the bigger dogs but he doesn’t care for puppies or really small dogs. He is very loyal and never leaves our side, such a cuddle bug!
Don’t you go thinking girls need sissy dogs!! My childhood companion was aGSD. We hunted together, ran the fields together. Explored a swamp by walking across fallen trees because it was a bottomless type of swamp. She was awesome at mouse and rat control. Woodchucks were herded up to the house until we could confirm she had one. Then a crunch to the neck and it was dead.
I've got two cavies 6 mo apart in age. We got the older one as a pup and he is good to go anywhere with you but is definitely needy. When you pointed out how she looked nervous that's exactly how our older is when we hike and go into water. We got our second at 6 mo trained by the breeder. He is much braver in situations like this running right in. At the dog park the younger is running around with all the other dogs while the older follows me around after greeting the other people.
Excellent video as always. I'm thinking of downsizing for my next crew. I just love my Golden retrievers but they might be a little too much dog for my golden years.... unless I get some chubby ones
Molly is a Spaniel. Spaniels were bred to flush out birds on land. The other dogs are retrievers who excel at picking up dead ducks out of the water after they've been shot down. I have CKCS that looks like Molly. He is brave and adventuresome. When we hike with other dogs he is always the one that is farthest from the trail checking out nooks and crannies. In the water? Not so much.
The internet has informed me this afternoon that Cavs are hard to take off leash because they tend to follow their nose off and away and you need a good fence, despite being super attached to their humans. I guess we saw that here 😂 I also have an English chubby, and consider myself lucky!
Nice video and wonderful places! Would you consider posting more about terriers? I have a 2 year-old rescue terrier and I'd love to hear what you think about them!
She looks like a very well-bred cavalier, with a well proportioned head; th nose isn't squashed and her eyes aren't bulging. Her body isn't too small, and her legs are in proportion to her body. Do you know what breeder they got her from? I have been having a hard time finding a breeder who focuses on these healthier characteristics.

We have a male Cav and he gives his bigger, older Labbie sister heck! Poor girl just wants to relax 😂
You're truly a dog whisperer.🎉🎉🎉
Don’t you go thinking girls need sissy dogs!! My childhood companion was aGSD. We hunted together, ran the fields together. Explored a swamp by walking across fallen trees because it was a bottomless type of swamp. She was awesome at mouse and rat control. Woodchucks were herded up to the house until we could confirm she had one. Then a crunch to the neck and it was dead.
Love this video I have cavs and my little one is a very bossy madam 😆
Such a cute pup. I love that you take them all on adventures
Love you channel!!
I’ve had a few Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and although they have distinct personalities they were all very similar to Molly.
I had both a brown Labrador and a tan King Charles cavalier and they where the best of friends for many years
Molly is a Spaniel.
Yeah my cavaliers have all liked rooting around and sniffing
Love my King Charles Miss Mia Mu
That little Jack Russel is one hardy dog!
I love your place, such beautiful nature, environment..
Thank you!
My Brooklyn is my fourth CKC are wonderful dogs
Did you catch my post last night? . He is so awesome but his owner needs some Stonnie sense.
The internet has informed me this afternoon that Cavs are hard to take off leash because they tend to follow their nose off and away and you need a good fence, despite being super attached to their humans. I guess we saw that here 😂
I also have an English chubby, and consider myself lucky!
Nice video and wonderful places!
Would you consider posting more about terriers? I have a 2 year-old rescue terrier and I'd love to hear what you think about them!
Great information
My Cavalier Maybelline, has energy to spare. She doesn't stop. Lol She would die fetching if you didn't stop her 😁
Great video! Would you consider doing a Is It Right For You? video on the Bernese Mountain Dog? Would love to hear your perspective.
Miley knows you have treats in your front pockets 🤣🤣
I got both lab and ckc...and ckc is tuff in cold forest.
I love cavaliers but I know they are not the right breed for me. Love this video and can’t wait for the others.
That was super!
I sure miss my precious cavvy. She was most definitely a princess 🥰
Gotta love JRT's man, they really don't care lol.
Our Cavalier is the best cat we’ve ever had. Labs are nice, but my lap belongs to our Cav.
Have two princesses...they are beautiful and loving breed❤❤
You’ve got a beautiful piece of property! And a creek to boot. Are you in the Carolina’s?
