Pro Daypack - Perfect for one or 2 days! Can put in a bottle of water, sandwich, rain clothes, shirt, short, toothbrush AND I do not feel disturbed during by the pack during my ride. KTM 1290 super duke R
FYI for you, TLR, the panels on top are called MOLLE. Origins in military applications, has started seeing use in a number of non tactical areas. My Mosko Moto Nomad tank bag on my GSA has molle, though its the standard nylon type, not the fancier rubberized stuff SWMotech is using here. Great system for attaching all sorts of aftermarket stuff beyond what SWM might offer and a good idea on their part. I'll have to look at the smaller ones for my new SDR.
Thanks very much for the review, it was extremely helpful and well made. I own a Daypack EVO, and I was thinking of switching to the new mount system. It's quite disappointing they haven't provided adapters to retrofit the Pro locking system to the old bags. But even more importantly... why on Earth have they removed the shoulder straps? It was the only way to carry the bag around when not on the motorcycle, and from what I see on their website, there's no mention of it in the new tank bags line. Considering that they cost almost double the money than the Givi models, and they don't provide any quick way to lock the bags to the tank (Givi provides a new TanklockED key-based system), I'm afraid I'm gonna switch brands.
Astonishing. I liked the look of the new Pro line bags, and went looking for videos hopefully showing them off on bikes so I could maybe kind of get a rough idea of what might be a good shape for my bike, a 2017 KTM Super Duke GT. I was, to say the least, surprised to find this exact video. Thank you, I just went and bought the City.
Thanks for this video as I am considering getting an SW Motech tank and tail bag. Very helpful. Please keep us updated on information and updates regarding their luggage 👍
Thanks Shaun, looks like SW MOTECH is the Bentley of tank bags, quality looks second to none, I’ve got Givi but may switch to these now, thanks for showing the range of them all
Daypack for me , and on a GS for ease of use on every ride. Big enough for the day and small enough to not get in the way. Full panniers mean I don't need a big bag but tbh the GS bag looks the biz. The quality of the workmanship and materials is very high with a super easy mounting system. Nice vid mate and thanks for sharing....
That locking system is so much better than before, we did a trackday last year and my mate turned up at the hotel the night before after riding 4 hours arriving at 9.30 with his entire gear for the night and next day squeezed into the micro tankbag 🤣
I saw Teapotone too on his reviews .. this is excellent. Thank you for showing them all. Fingers crossed 3 weeks in Norway September 2021..... so the GS giant one it is then !!!
Just ordered the pro city for my GS, down for £126 well happy 😊 hopefully have it before my trip around the UK 🇬🇧 at the end of the month. Should be, as it is DPD and they usually take a few days.
If you message me on my Facebook or Instagram page (links in the description) I can sort you out with pictures of the Tankbag that you're interested in👍
Nice video and description of the range. However, what it lacks, in my opinion, is information on bag width; I noticed that you didn't try turning the bars of the KTM SD GT to show whether they hit the bags on full lock. I have a Pro Micro which was just about ok on my 1250 GS (with up and back risers). I would like to get a larger bag for tours but I think there will be a problem going up in size/volume as the Micro is only just small enough to not massively impede the bars on full lock and all the larger bags appear to be wider (not a surprise) - are any of the larger bags shaped so that they are the same width as the Micro at about expansion zip height?
Thanks for nice comparison. My question is how do you feel this lock system and its durability (or dificulty to tear the tank bag off the bike) Thank you
Helpful fitting video, thanks. I'd already bought the DayPro, for my V100 Mandello and whilst it fits quite easily and seems pretty tough there are some cons. 1: at this price why can't they include printed fitting instructions, I had to scan to phone, upload pdf, then print myself ( NOT GOOD for £150 or more, it's 3 x A4 sheets f.f.s. ) 2: my unit lies slightly on tilt ( I've tried all the obvious refittings, the expansion zip, both rings etc. I'm still looking at a bag sitting a few degrees off of North ) - Not a deal breaker... but a niggle at the price. 3: the phone/map holder is an 'extra' starting at £28 and up to £50+ . Sadly, they appear to be challenging BMW for extras rip-off status.
I'm pretty sure the lack of printed instructions is due to companies trying to limit on wasting paper. Me personally, I prefer to have it on my phone, instead of paper flying around my garage. That's a shame you can't quite get the fit you're after, challenging to make a wide variety of tankbags that'll fit every bike exactly.
I mentioned on the SW Motech video for these bags that you did a more entertaining review on their tank bags than they do. It provoked a response, rather an entertaining one 😂 Did they not give you a discount code for all us SW Motech tank bag potential buyers? I'm need to get one soon 😉👍
I couldn't tell you, every bike is different! If you use the "bike filter" on their website then every tank bag that appears, SWMOTECH have deemed befitting for your bike.
Thanks for a very useful video! Have you ever ridden with GIVI tanklock bags? If so, how would you rate them? The GIVI range seems almost equally good quality wise but cheaper than SW. However SW seems way more practical (especially the pro range with these magnets) and just look so much better in my humble opinion.
Haven't owned one myself but have had a good look at them! The level of adjustability is far greater on the SWMOTECH bags, with regard to fittment, also now much easier to attach to the bike with this new mechanism design.
Thank you for doing this full range review of SW-Motech's tank bag range. I have a 2020 KTM SDR like you, in fact, went in that direction over the SDGT as I saw you had switched. I've gone through the shifter shaft recall, the wiring recall and numerous MTC Failure codes but things seem to have settled down. I only have about 1500 miles on her. My question: Have you tried the fit of the Pro Engage tank bag on your SDR? Too big, interferes with riding or seeing the screen? I have a Nelson-Rigg Tailbag, the small one.
Great video m8, i've placed an order for a Trail tank bag , but thinking is too big for my Tracer 9gt , however is better to have more space then no space :P Keep the good work coming, love your end video :D
That's quite a range they've produced. With the tank bag accessories, (map, phone holder, etc) can they be fitted over the tank bag waterproof cover or will they have to be covered by the waterproof cover?
Great video. I have the Evo Daypack and decided to upgrade. I bought the Pro City for my 2016 R1200GSA and sadly the bars contact the side pockets and prevent full lock. This is with the bag sitting on the tank but not fully attached (not sure if it can be returned if it's mounted?). Unless it is set back towards the rider (where it interferes with standing on trails), there's contact. Disappointing. I'll try the engage, which appears to be 3cm narrower.
@@thelikeablerider8800 After a little investigation, I found the bag will not fit the bike if bar risers are installed. Without the risers the bars can swing lock to lock with the controls slipping under the pockets. With risers installed the controls are about 1.5 inches higher, so they hit the pockets dead-on. I'll simply switch to the Micro Bag and adjust what I carry up top. I really prefer a small bag anyway. Thanks again for the Comparo!
Hi, thanks for the video. Very helpful indeed. I ride a 790 Adventure R . Would you have an opinion on which tank bags (Daytime, Engage, or Sport)? As you know the cap filler opens backwards/forwards on the 790 Adv R which is causing me real angst. I'm assuming I will need to mount ring backwards & then reverse the plate under the bag?
Unfortunately I can't say for sure which will fit you bike best, the Daytime will fit for sure! If you use the bike filter on their website, whatever tankbags they list for sale for your bike, they deem befitting.
With the latter model GT with TFT screen, the GPS mount is unfortunately fitted below TFT screen on the handle bar mounts. I know you have the SD R now but any idea if the city tank bag would obscure the view of the GPS. I guess the dedicated GPS mount is probably the same on the R & GT! I’m new to your channel and very much enjoying the professionalism in the broadcast & superb filming quality. Great review thanks.
Hi Neil Yes things become more difficult if you have stuff mounted further forward. The TFT on the SDR is now further forward, but none of the tank bags block my view of it. Having said that I've now had to mount my Sat Nav on the bars, and left of the display, which works fine. Thank you for your kind comment👍😜
Be honest Shaun, you must be doing those bits for outtakes on purpose by now 😉 Nice vid, quick and to the point. I bought the GS one last year and am impressed. Only I find the evo locking horseshoes a bit fiddly, so i can imagine those magnets helping.
Sehr gutes Video. Habe lange nach einen Video gesucht in dem alle Modelle vorgestellt werden. Übrigens Videos in deutscher Sprache sind auch sehr willkommen :)
Thanks for the video.. how it is out of the bike.. there is only one way to carry them on the hand?.. not on the shoulder? The the precious version or I'm not seeing it correctly?.
Dont be confused, maybe I didnt make it clear enough! The magents only guide the locking mechanism into position, the tankbag is still physically held in place by the tank ring on the filler cap, together with the mounting plate on the tankbag.
Thanks for a great review, Couple of questions... does this Pro range replace the Evo, and are the mountings compatible? It looks like SW have deleted the very useful zipped pocket from the rear of the City bag?
I was curious if I could put my camera directly into these tank bags. In the manual it says don't put your phone or creditcard on the bottom due to the magnets. Wouldn't that also affect the camera? Wouldn't it erase the data?
Does Anyone have a 2020 KTM 390 Adventure and one of these Tank bags mounted? Hoping to see what it looks like …..Ideally the Daypack or slightly bigger 🤔
Great review, but just going of topic I noticed you have the standard mirrors back on your bike did you not like the end bar mirrors? I was thinking of getting some for my bike!
The Micro for sure for just a day tank bag, depends in what you want it for. Have you had a look on SWMOTECH website to see what they say will fit your bike?
Just ordered a F900R and thinking of getting one of therse. Two questions:L 1.do you think that these would fit on the bike after getting the GPS mount which mounts at the base of the handlebars? 2. Do you think it's worth the extra 40-50 to get this over the EVO range which has slightly higher capaciity? Considering the City and it looks great!
You would have less room for sure if you have your GPS mounted there. Couldn't tell you for sure as I don't know the bike. The upgrade is definitely worth the extra spend.
Are these bags compatible with the Alu-Rack like the evo bags? I really loved using the Evo Sport model as a quick-detach tail bag and would like to upgrade to the Pro.
I couldn't tell you for sure, but pretty sure they will. The way the tank ring attaches to the bike hasn't changed, just how the tank bag attaches to the ring.
TheLikeableRider Well, the good thing about getting older is that the hair on the southern hemisphere of our head keep reliably growing - whereas the northern part has a stronger tendency to get deserted. So you can let it grow again, should you feel like it. 😀 BTW, thanks for your SW Motech reviews, which are super helpful. Subscribed. 👍
still awaiting a tank fit to the XR 😉shame there's not an elastic strap across the top, so you could tuck in your ferry ticket etc when going over the pond?
Hi again. Im a little late to thus vid but having now bought the new GT im looking to go for the Engage tank bag. As I have a garmin on the handlebar mount I cant have the bag to high as it will block the view. I've tried the standard evo engage bag but keen on the pro version. Do you know if the pro sits higher than the evo version please mate? Also do you have a discount code
Sorry about reposting.... used an old redundant account there. I have subscribed and look forward to a response to the following.....Great and timely review - I hope to buy one out here in Thailand before I go touring soon. The only issue that I have is that they appear to be easily nickable..... albeit the base plate stays put. Has there any thought been given to the security of these bags? I'd hate for mine to disappear while I was getting my coffee fix at the service station....... Cheers again.
They do sell a small cable lock, so you can secure it to the bike to prevent a quick steal. Do bare in mind that whatever you do, if the thief wants it, he/she will get it off, but that's true of any bike kit.
I'm not sure what guidelines they go by, but I'd imagine if they impair the clocks, and ignition, or just don't fit the shape of the tank, then they'll be deemed not to fit.
Hi - I've just got a R1200GS already fitted with a SW Motech tank ring. I'm pretty sure it's not the ION, but not sure if it's an EVO or PRO ring. Do you know if I got the Pro GS Bag, would with tank ring work with it? (I don't want to buy a PRO ring if the EVO one works!) - thanks for the review!

@@thelikeablerider8800 Just ordered mine directly from SW for my 2009 F 800 GS, should be here in a few days.
Ah you're the first to have notice! The bike is sold so have put her back to stock✌😜
@@thelikeablerider8800 Hope the new one is a KTM 😉
@@thelikeablerider8800 look forward to the reveal of a new bike soon
@thelikeablerider which of these new bags would fit best for a KTM 690 Duke 2012?
best wishes from switzerland 🇨🇭
The Micro for sure for just a day tank bag, depends in what you want it for. Have you had a look on SWMOTECH website to see what they say will fit your bike?
Just ordered a F900R and thinking of getting one of therse. Two questions:L
1.do you think that these would fit on the bike after getting the GPS mount which mounts at the base of the handlebars?
TheLikeableRider that’s awesome. How far forward does the City sit once you’ve mounted it? Looking at it I reckon I have enough space!
Couldn't tell you as every bike is different, on mine there is space
TheLikeableRider thanks dude!
Who is this guy? T-pot one ? Harrijasses was ein Bart 👍😂! Very good vid thank you!
✌😂cheers itchy!
Are these bags compatible with the Alu-Rack like the evo bags? I really loved using the Evo Sport model as a quick-detach tail bag and would like to upgrade to the Pro.
I couldn't tell you for sure, but pretty sure they will. The way the tank ring attaches to the bike hasn't changed, just how the tank bag attaches to the ring.
which SWMOTECH tank bag would you recommend for a 2020 Duke 390? I've been on a look out for a long time and I have not found a solution🙏 help!!!
Hi
What are you looking for, something for day trips, or longer tours. The Pro Micro or Daypack are excellent for your shorter trips!
Does it appear that there is any mechanism for electrifying the connection in the future? (Like the Evo Electric)
Sorry but SWMOTECH has no plans to make a powered version, like on the previous model.
Hi Shaun I’ve got the GS bag but thinking it’s too big, is the City Pro physicallly much smaller or is there not much difference? Thanks
Yes the City is noticeably smaller, but still plenty big enough for touring👍😜
@@thelikeablerider8800 excellent! Thank you
You're welcome! The Pro City is my go to bag for longer trips
i have pro day pack tank bag. i want to mount gopro on it but don't know how, what are the options?
Not sure they are any options to mount it to a Tankbag, I'd imagine you get wobbly footage, be better to mount it somewhere more secure.
Came here after the Harz video with Andy Man Cam - you grew a lot more hair in the face since then... 🤣
👍😂😂 it's all gone again now
TheLikeableRider Well, the good thing about getting older is that the hair on the southern hemisphere of our head keep reliably growing - whereas the northern part has a stronger tendency to get deserted. So you can let it grow again, should you feel like it. 😀 BTW, thanks for your SW Motech reviews, which are super helpful. Subscribed. 👍
Glad it helped Tom, and thanks for jumping onboard✌😜
still awaiting a tank fit to the XR 😉shame there's not an elastic strap across the top, so you could tuck in your ferry ticket etc when going over the pond?
They all fit the XR apart from the Pro sport👍😜
@@thelikeablerider8800 kool, got micro, and the day rear pack, Normandy next month need the space for dslr, so may get the city🤔
The City is my "goto" for longer trips👍
Yes the newer Pro version sits a little higher than the Evo Engage.
Thank you. Evo bag it is then. Off to Germany, Austria, Swiss and route des grand alpes in May so will look out for you lol
I see that there is a waterproof PRO Tankbag called the Yukon, can you do a review on that?
Unfortunately I don't have one to review on short notice, maybe it's something I can look into getting a hold of👍😜
@@thelikeablerider8800 well they are mostly all the same anyway just waterproof apparently so no big deal 👍
I'm really disappointed that SW-Motech only rates the 2 smallest ones to be fitting to the KTM 790 Adventure. I wonder what the reasons might be?
I'm not sure what guidelines they go by, but I'd imagine if they impair the clocks, and ignition, or just don't fit the shape of the tank, then they'll be deemed not to fit.
I like the pro micro for my honda grom. Are they universal fit?
The tank bags yes, but the tank ring for mounting it to the filler cap is bike specific👍
Not a single shot inside the bags? Not so good.
Hi m8
Unfortunately the Evo and Pro tank bags are not compatible with each other, in regard to the tank rings.
@@thelikeablerider8800 thanks for the rapid response!!!
For a BMW F850GS what is the best bag tank?
Depends what you'll be doing with it! Day trips or something for touring?
What is the difference between SW-Motech Pro City vs Evo City tank bag? Thanks
Check this vid out where I explain the difference✌😜

Are worth to buying this for my Yamaha r6 2012?
For sure! You'd have to check on their website which would best fit your bike👍😜

Hi, do you fit a helmet inside of some of them? Ty
No unfortunately you won't be able to fit a helmet in them, they're not designed for that purpose.
Hello all,
Does anyone knows the total height of the PRO Daypack tank bag. 5-8l when is full expanded? and this PRO Trial tank bag
(18-20)?
Thank you.
I'll have a look for you, but I'm not at home at the moment as I'm out filimg new content👍😜
