Well done SW Motech for getting this out on the market. In the real world any type of non waterproof luggage is just a waste of time. Clear, concise review mate. Thanks and Merry Christmas.🎄👍🏼
Me personally I'm on the fence, but I understand the market for it. I've never had a real need for fully waterproof, my bikes screens have protected from the weather while on the move, and if it really bangs it down I just put the rain cover over. Just a personal preference of course, I also prefer the styling of the (non waterproof) Pro range. Merry Christmas👍😜
Would have been great to have hands on with both! Would be great to see them produce a larger range of WP tank bags, I'm sure they'll sell faster than they can churn them out.
Great review again Shaun, I’m like yourself and have the Micro and City on my XR and don’t really see the need for this, I like the adjustability of the normal bags depending on my requirements, unfortunately there is none with any of the fully waterproof range, but understandable too with what they are trying to achieve. One thing I would like to see is a way of locking the tank bag in place without having to drill holes and use tools for traveling. I can’t complain though as I’ve got caught out with both in heavy rain without the cover and have yet to have them let water in 👍🏻
I'm the same m8, I've hardly used the rain covers. Luckily on an adventure/tourer bikes the screen and the larger front ends protect it 90% of the time anyway. I do understand the interest in the "fully waterproof" bags, if I was going away on a much longer trip, I'd go full waterproof!
Quite happy with my Engage, don’t really need a fully waterproof bag. Love my Motech kit for my Multistrada and have sadly spent a lot on accessories including brilliant rack adapters for my Street Rack meaning I can fit a tank bag or top box. Even the red flashes complement the Ducati red😉
Was speaking the team about this last time I was at SWMOTECH, we were all fairly surprised about the high demand for fully waterproof tank bags! I'm the same as you on this, I never really had the need, and the rain cover was more than sufficient for me. I also prefer the styling of the standard Pro bags👍
@@thelikeablerider8800 Thing is, if you're going to have a bag on the tank, why wouldn't you want it to be waterproof? (he says, with a water resistant only Givi bag... ;) :( ). If I was switching to SWM, which I'm really temped to do, I'd go waterproof... what's the downside? (I never either carry my waterproof covers for tank bag nor tail pack, and probably would be too lazy to use them even if I did... )
@@mattmutane5502 purely down to personal preference Matt! I've hardly ever had to use the rain cover, and for me the sacrifice in styling doesn't warrant the "extra" functionality. I do understand why so many have expressed the need for full waterproof. If I was to go on much longer trip, then most certainly would go full waterproof, but for the odd week or two I'd stay with the standard Pro City👍
I'm getting ready to purchase the Yukon or city pro for my new 23 s1000xr. Do both of these fit the XR without interfering with the visibility of the TFT or gps (BMW factory mount). I do a lot of day trips and some cross country trips. I don't think I need the larger one for daily use but would be handy if it isn't too big for every day riding.
Nice one Shaun, I bought the smaller day pack as your channel and a few others use this gear, the magnetic part that screws to the tank itself has 2 x larger kind of flat headed screws but there made of cheese , do you happen to know where I can more from , can’t seem to find any on the tinter… there very flat topped with a cap head insert (should be torx I think) thanks for a great review
Hi Shaun, I'm not sure which tank bag to go for. I'm touring later this year. I want a waterproof bag like the pro city or yukon. The only reason I want one is that I want quick access to a mirrorless camera. For size purposes, it's a Sony a7iii with a medium-sized zoom lens. Will the yukon wp be sufficient, or would the pro city be better. Oh, and secondly, I have an Evo currently which can be secured, Im assuming because of the no drilling, the yukon or city can not be secured?
Unfortunately I haven't had to Yukon to test out, but I'm sure it will accommodate you camera. Me on the other hand, I prefer the Pro City when touring, just for that bit more space. For securing the new bags, I think they sell a lockable cable.
Excellent review! Question, if you need to remove the tank plastic on the XR for any reason, do you need to remove the pro ring or can it be left on the filler cap?
If you use the "bike filter" on the SWMOTECH website, it'll tell you if it fits. I've not tried it on an Africa twin, so it's impossible for me to say.

Nice job, quick and simple!
I've been waiting for your review of these WP ones, I'm looking at buying the smaller one at the moment. Thanks shaun very helpful mate.
Glad it helped you buddy👍😜
Great and simple instructions for fitment.
very nice, that's going on my wishlist for next year
Happy shopping👍😜
Very good vid covering everything you’d need to know. Good stuff.
Thank you, I'm glad you found it so👍😜
Nice one Shaun. As you know I love my SW Motech stuff. On MT 10 the tail bag looks like it was made for it.
I'll second that Mike👍😘
Tasty looking bit of kit that. i can only say good things so far about the smaller Yukon waterproof bag from SW Motech. 👍
Would have been great to have hands on with both! Would be great to see them produce a larger range of WP tank bags, I'm sure they'll sell faster than they can churn them out.
I guess a wider range of bags just opened up for use on the KTM, too? :)

Ffs got the standard version through a reseller this week, didn't know this was coming out.
Ah bugger🤦♂️😆
Are the WP versions the only tank bags with padded bottoms? Thanks for your time making this Vid.
Very helpful!!!

Hi
Yes they both fit your bike with issue👍

Oh really, I haven't had an issue! They don't need tightening down much. Maybe drop SW a mail if they sell the screws separately.
@@thelikeablerider8800 I will do so my man danke
Thank you for the review. Is there any charging port to run a cable from the bike in to the bag?
Not on this one as it's completely sealed, but you can still run a cable up under the lid, and it probably wouldn't effect its water tightness.

How sturdy are the sidewalls ? I want something to carry my camera and lens.
@adventurewithalex3707 it has a very study construction, I carry my camera in mine all the time👍😜
Thanks for another great review mate.
My pleasure Jake👍😜
Excellent review! Question, if you need to remove the tank plastic on the XR for any reason, do you need to remove the pro ring or can it be left on the filler cap?
Thank you! Yes you need to remove it, as it slightly overhangs the filler cap. Luckily it's a straightforward job to remove it👍😜
How does it fit on Africa Twin Adventure Sports? :)
If you use the "bike filter" on the SWMOTECH website, it'll tell you if it fits. I've not tried it on an Africa twin, so it's impossible for me to say.
I have the older sw GS tank bag , is the new bag still compatible with the new ring ?
Should say old fitting ring
If it's the Evo GS tank bag, then unfortunately the new Pro tank bag series won't fit on your ring.
Can this bag be easily stolen while stopping for a quick toilet or coffee break? Thanks in advance
Only if you know how to get it off.
Nice but they should of been waterproof in the first place, ok if you get a supply free but for us mere mortals another expense!!!
Just merely showcasing the product for the many people who'd showed great interest in it, if it's not for you that's fine!🤷♂️
