    Awesome to see you uploading reguarly :) I've been a sub for a while, I believe you used to have another account before
    I cannot wait for this fight, its going to be one hell of an event, Lomachenko is so skilled and Walters has the 8 inch reach advantage that he will have to deal with
    Great point on Walters inactivity I totally forgot about that
    Also like to mention, that Loma is the only one who has a knockout at super featherweight
    Thank you for uploading I've learnt a lot about boxing from you :)

    Hi, I used to watch your video's a while ago but stopped using internet regularly for a long time, good to see you are still doing this as you are my favourite fight reviewer.
    I watched the Ward v Kovalev fight and I have to disagree, I scored the fight with exactly the same score total that the three judges had, although I have to say I did not have all 12 rounds scored the same as any of the three judges cards.

    Been watching for awhile since your storkjmc days. Never subscribed though. It is refreshing coming to your channel knowing I'm getting an objective view on boxing with no racial intentions unlike majority of these boxing channels. THANKS ISLANDER!

    Thanks for the review. I thought Kovalev began to fade in the later rounds but of course was always dangerous. Ward was racking up a lot of points on the inside. Reminded me of the boxing styles of the 20s - that grinding inside fighting that modern day fighters have ignored or forgotten. Judges of today reward punch count, pressure and aggression. I thought it was great seeing judges use some old school scoring.

    Good video. I was on youtube following boxing in 2007, but I didn't know of your channel and I don't know any of those names. Make America great again.

    Sir I've been a subscriber for a long time and I respect your knowledge of boxing and I love how you don't come off as a fan of a particular fighter but a fan of boxing, which I am myself. I agree with your assessment of the ward fight. Even for those that speak of wards inside fighting and how kovlev wasn't able to neutralize it, was it really that effective? I'm mean you never felt as if ward was going knock him out or hurt him with the way ward was fighting him, kovlev was never in any real danger and ward looked like he had to be on his toes constantly moving and holding just to be in the fight. It wasn't the worst decision I have ever seen, I wouldn't say highway robbery. I'm picking Walters in the next fight but his inactivity could be the difference. Keep making videos.

    Okay. Lomachenko is a freak of nature. Really bummed we'll never get the Rigo fight. Mikey Garcia might still give him a good challenge.

      I like how Jim Lampley proclaimed Francisco Vargas has no chance of beating Lomochenko, which is true by the way.

  • @hawkermustang

    This robbery was worse than the Pac vs Bradley robbery.

  • @DrowsyMongoose
    @DrowsyMongoose 8 лет назад

    Ward didn't get started early enough to take his titles. Kovalev, who's a much sharper boxer than he gets credit for, was robbed clear as day.
    Still, I think it's worth pointing out that Kovalev was rapidly losing steam on those punches during the second half, mostly because of those heavy body punches. The difference between this and Pacquiao-Bradley is that Tim never really took command away from Manny and I think Ward did by the end of the fight. I think if this was a 15 rounder, Ward's momentum would've kept growing. I don't get the impression Ward's afraid to fight Kovalev again but he's an annoyingly shrewd businessman.

    • @boxinginfo
      @boxinginfo  8 лет назад

      I think something very much overlooked is how Kovalev found Ward's body in the last round and a half. I feel if they rematch Kovalev is going to roll.

    • @DrowsyMongoose
      @DrowsyMongoose 8 лет назад

      Maybe. We'll see who adjusts better. Kovalev needs a contingency plan for the inside game but I think he was leaning in too much. Should've fought taller. Ward might adjust his footwork as well as how and where he times the jab up top. I expect a lot of hard body jabs by both guys from the outset.

  • @hrlaej

    I always thought Jose Luis Lopez beat quartey

  • @DrowsyMongoose
    @DrowsyMongoose 8 лет назад

    Lomachenko needs to keep behind the front foot when he fights Walters. He can't play around with this guy.
    Walters needs to get as nasty and savage as he reasonably can from the opening bell. Maybe start with some hard jabs on his side or even his shoulder.

  • @KeithBeacham
    @KeithBeacham 8 лет назад

    Let's be clear Ward outlanded Kovalev in 6 of 12 rounds. The total punch margin was 10 and the 2nd round accounted for most of that.

    • @boxinginfo
      @boxinginfo  8 лет назад +1

      What counts more a couple of more slaps or the sledghammers Kovalev was sending Ward's way?

    • @KeithBeacham
      @KeithBeacham 8 лет назад

      If you don't land the hammer it does not count.

    • @fuckooo
      @fuckooo 8 лет назад +1

      And Kovalev outlanded Ward in 6 of 12 rounds plus sustained a knockdown, so on that basis how can Ward have won?

    • @boxinginfo
      @boxinginfo  8 лет назад +1

      Look at Ward's face and tell me he didn't get hammered. Kovalev outlanded him and knocked him down, staggered him with a jab in the 1st round then got mugged.

    • @KeithBeacham
      @KeithBeacham 8 лет назад

      Looking at Wards face is not a way to determine who landed more scoring blows. Each round is scored individualy. I had w
      Ward winning 8 rounds. The judges had him wining 7.

  • @ega0117
    @ega0117 8 лет назад

    It's very simple how Ward won. He just out pointed Kovalev ala Floyd Mayweather.

    • @boxinginfo
      @boxinginfo  8 лет назад +1

      Uh - no he didn't. Look at Ward's face after the fight. Prediction - Ward will give up belts to make a fight with Stevenson and not get back in the ring with Kovalev.

    • @ega0117
      @ega0117 8 лет назад

      boxinginfo So are you saying that Kovalev is better boxer than Ward just because he placed a few dings on his face? Whom has Kovalev fought that is more worthy compared to Ward? Perhaps you should see the fight again because based on those three ringside judges they would beg to differ. Also, check out this source: www.google.com/amp/www.boxingnews24.com/2016/11/kovalev-vs-ward-recap/amp/?client=safari good day to you Sir!

    • @fuckooo
      @fuckooo 8 лет назад +1

      Got knocked down and got outlaned by Kovalev no way he won.

    • @ega0117
      @ega0117 8 лет назад

      Wayne Kerr - Why does everyone here keep discrediting the ringside judges? These judges are not a bunch or rookies. They all have experience and interesting enough they all scored 113 to 114 Ward. Please let's give credit that Ward is a good fighter possibly the best at this time. What more can we ask for from Ward? Take a look at his record and see the boxer he defeated: Chad Dawson, Carl Froch, Arthur Abraham, Mikkel Kessler. Whom has Kovalev defeat that is worthy of the fighters Ward beat? Jean Pascal? Old man B-Hop 50 years old?!?!? Give me a break!!!!

    • @boxinginfo
      @boxinginfo  8 лет назад +1

      Landed more punches, landed way harder punches scored a knock down. Kovalev is an under rated boxer and ward isn't as great as HBO would lead you to believe.

    Compubox can be good for an overall guide but it can't be used at the end to judge a fight which is round by round. There were only around 10 punches in it overall according to Compubox anyway. I haven't scored it a 2nd time yet - I had Kovalev winning by 1 point on the night but I could EASILY see it the other way and I thought the scorecards were very fair. This stuff about "taking the title from the champion" is also nonsense. You just have to score more points - whether it's 1 or 10.
    The worst scorecards were given by Americans such as Harold Lederman (laughable), Doug Fischer and Dan Rafael. They were claiming some American conspiracy against a foreign fighter lol. To me their scorecards indicates how badly you guys have sold out your own fighters to push these Eastern Europeans.

    • @boxinginfo
      @boxinginfo  8 лет назад

      I addressed this post in my next video. One thing I didn't address was us "selling out" our own fighters for Eastern Europeans.
      It's real simple Dirk - I will not PAY to see Floyd Mayweather or Andre Ward fight UNLESS Mayweather fights GGG or Ward gets back in with Kovalev. REASON??? I like the way these two Eastern Europeans fight more than I do the 2 Americans. Same goes for Ricky Hatton and Joe Calzaghe - I would rather pay to see them fight separately than I would Mayweather and Hopkins.
      I wrote an article some years ago for a defunct website called boxingconfidential by Mike Marley all about what happens when a boxer reaches PPV status pointing specifically to FMJ's fight with Arturo Gatti his 1st PPV compared with every title fight he had after that and the difference in his effort was night and day.

    • @DirkDiggler632
      @DirkDiggler632 8 лет назад

      boxinginfo I wasn't referring to you specifically. More HBO and the powers that be.
      One of the primary reasons this fight even happened was because HBO were desperate to protect their other favourite, Golovkin, from a fight with Andre Ward. So they more or less left Ward with no option but to move to 175 and face a bigger monster, keeping him as far away from GGG as possible. This is the same guy who won a gold medal for your country and who won the Super Six at a canter. Yet a Kazakh guy whose best win is over a welterweight is given favourable treatment.
      Its true of most American fighters whether they are exciting or not. You guys don't get behind your fighters. I think there's more to it than the excitement factor.
      Regardless of his style, Andre Ward should be given far more credit for what he has done. The narrative should have been what a courageous effort it was for him to come back after that bad start but instead it was all about how the Russian got "robbed" in America and I find that quite sad

    • @boxinginfo
      @boxinginfo  8 лет назад

      Americans haven't gotten behind Ali? Frazier? Tyson? Holyfield? Foreman? Leonard? Hearns? Hagler? De lahoya? I think we DON'T automatically get behind them, they have to earn it.
      As far as Ward is concerned, how many times did he fight the Super six tournament over in Europe? Yet it's your guys who came to the States and its not about the money anymore, that's an old worn out arguement because there is as much money in the UK, Germany, and even Russia now. AND Ward is very painful to watch just like Bhop.

    • @DirkDiggler632
      @DirkDiggler632 8 лет назад

      boxinginfo I think Ward has done more than enough to earn some support and respect rather than being the black sheep that America is trying to run out of the game.

      Hey I respect your opinion and you make very valid points. Understand though that there is heavy pressure in the US being put on the sport of boxing by the UFC and there is very little room any more for guys who play the self preservation game(Mayweather) or the mug or be mugged game (Ward and Hopkins)
