Very good analysis of the Jack-DeGale's fight. I saw it pretty much the same way you did. I had it 114-112 Jack. So it was a draw on my scorecard after 11 rounds. I agree it was a tough one to score, but at the end of the day when I look at round by round compubox, overall landed/thrown jabs, power and total punches, when you look at DeGale's face after the fight as if it was a Campbell's "chunky" soup... I mean I thought I had the right winner. Jack landed the most significant shots, more often. But anyway, it was a very good fight.
dream fights- joe calzaghe v Nigel Benn, Joe calzaghe v Carl froch at super middle. Whittaker v pacquaio, triple g v sugar ray Leonard or Marvin Hagler at middleweight, thanks islander
I wanted Degale to win, I've been a fan for a long long time (since his olympic run) I thought it was much more of a 50/50 fight going into it, I had under rated Jack before and he had always proven me wrong But I can't see how Degale won, the difference in the fight was Jack's defence vs Degale's defence Jack landed clean most of the time, Degale landed clean some of the time, he was very sloppy Jack did more damage and was the aggressor throughout I felt really bad for Jack its not the first time he has been robbed of a clear victory in his favour Definitely number 1 at Super Middleweight for me
Dream fights Bobby Chacon vs. Arturo Gatti at does it really matter? Aaron Pryor vs Manny Pacquiao at Jr. Welter, Carlos Monzon vs GGG, Eder Jofre vs. Salvador Sanchez, Jose Napoles vs Andre Berto, Eric Morales vs. Wlfredo Gomez at Sper Bantam
lemonite1 Chacon-Gatti would have to be at 130 with everything being equal I see Gatti's power eventually getting Chacon and nothing Chacon could throw at him would deter Gatti. Pryor-Pacquiao would be the most interesting and entertaining I lean toward Pryor for this one reason, Pac's power comes from his thick legs propelling his upper body into his punches. Pryor would smother this from happening like he did to Arguello's ability to get leverage on his punches- Pryor was almost always on the end of them or too close to Arguello. You might see Pryor down but over 15 rounds he'd get more than his pound of flesh. Monzon-GGG I'd go with Monzon by decision too much height, too much length, and a lot more of the skills that Danny Jacobs and Kell Brook used to give GGG trouble. Sanchez over Jofre b/c Jofre's natural weight was at 118 and he was gifted a decision over Jose Legra at 126 then KO'd a washed up Saldivar no disrespect to Jofre he would beat almost everybody at 118 in his prime. Napoles BIG over Berto almost a no contest IMO a KO or stoppage. Gomez-Morales I'd give a toss up both present dangers the other hadn't seen in their respective primes. Gomez NEVER saw a guy his size or larger at 122. Morales never fought somebody who had the defense that turned into offense like Gomez in his prime at 122-true toss up. I should do a video just for the Salvador Sanchez-Eusibio Pedroza dream fight as my opinion keeps evolving on it.
This camera makes you look as though you have swelling from an infected tooth, anyways fantasy matchups Orlando Canizales vs Miguel Happy Lora Barry McGuigan vs Jeff Fenech 126, Jose Luis ramirez vs Jose Luis Castillo
Gotta say I disagree with your scoring logic again. I'm a DeGale fan and I was very disappointed in his performance. If you look at the fight as a whole, Jack deserved the win. But boxing is judged round by round. Not on the total number of punches landed at the end according to some computer system or necessarily on the damage to DeGale's - his teeth weren't actually knocked out, he has had false front teeth since he was a kid, it was a bridge that got knocked out in sparring. As for the punchstats, Jack won a few rounds BIG especially the 8th and the 12th where he landed a lot of clean punches whereas DeGale won a lot of closer rounds. That can account for the disparity in total punches but it doesn't change the fact that they are just single rounds. You don't get extra credit for winning a round wider unless its a total whitewash 10-8 round where you have the guy all over the place or a knockdown obviously. I think a draw was a more than fair result. It could have easily gone to Jack but its not inconceivable to score it for DeGale either. I just don't agree with yours and other peoples statements about the punchstats being conclusive on who won. Until they change the scoring system from round-by-round to "total punches landed" or "damage done to opponents face", then this logic is flawed.
No matter how you split hairs I think Jack won more rounds, forced the action, landed more punches that were not jabs. End of story, our guy lost and I don't care what Floyd Mayweather's iased opinion is.
Well that's a fine argument if you say that in your video. "Won more rounds" is a key phrase because that's what you've gotta do. Don't say "look at his face and you can see who the winner is" - yes paraphrasing but essentially that's what you said. Our guy? You may think Im biased but im not. DeGale is my favourite fighter from the UK but I think he performed horribly. I hated that performance and would have no complaints if he lost. My only gripe with your analysis was the compubox stats and the so called damage done - Degale has been missing teeth since he was a teenager. He didn't get that point across very well in the aftermath. I actually kinda wish Jack got the decision because I think James needs a new trainer. The guy is supremely talented but he's struggled and made mistakes the last 3/4 fights. Thanks for the reply again Islander, keep making these videos because its the only good debate I get on the internet. Whether we agree or not, I'm always gonna stay a loyal folllower to your channel my man
I gotta think of some more matchups, thanks for the response Islander!
