  • Australian pilots have raised concerns about new Airbus technology inspired by the extraordinary eyesight of dragonflies to enable fully automated or single-pilot cockpits.
Australian and International Pilots association’s President Tony Lucas discusses the issues with implementing Dragonfly technology into aeroplanes.
“I’m not convinced this technology can ever satisfactorily replace two world-trained and world-registered pilots,” Mr Lucas told Sky News Australia.
"I wouldn’t put my family on an aeroplane that only had one pilot that controls, certainly, an airliner.
“When things go wrong in an aeroplane, they tend to go wrong fairly quickly, and it frequently takes the combined efforts of two world-trained pilots to be able to respond to those sorts of situations.”
