Fasted thing on the street. Tap on the shoulder, Did you see the Blue 750 Bud? Yeah, I know. That's crazy. People will die.
Why? The ninja has always been an entry level bike, 300 was fine, maybe even 400 but 500 makes it a full on midsize bike that is completely different than the model its always been. At least yamaha has the common sense to stop at 320 with the R3. Instead of making this engine bigger put the 400cc in the versys x, like every one has wanted for years. Literally the only way this make any sense is if they are making a new ninja 350 too.
Interesting point. Back in the 1990s to 2009, the older Kawasaki 500R had 49hp and 30 ft lbs torque back then, weighing about 370 lbs, before the Ninja 650 replaced it. It was far enough from the classic Ninja 250Rs and 2008 model, before those bumped up briefly to 300cc and now 400cc. Kawasaki, if they're replacing the Ninja 400 with this "500" 451cc motorcycle, are completely moving away from the smaller class of the past as an option in the US anyway. Having learned and enjoy the 250Rs for many years, those taught me discipline with riding. There were times I would've gotten into danger/trouble if I had a faster bike while learning, so I agree it's important to offer smaller displacement bikes. Plus I used to take my Ninja 250R onto the freeways all the time, no issues (top speed downhill was 110mph) other than slower passing compared to my newer Ninja 650. So timing was important when passing on a 250R, and avoiding going up hills if passing, where it wouldn't accelerate very much. Still a fun, capable bike even at 250cc's.
It will be interesting to see if they bring out a Versy 450, sorry 500, as the Versy 300 is getting a bit out dated now. I have a 2023 Z400 and will keep this as there isn't enough improvements on this model and I agree with all the other comments that is should be called a 450.
In the real world or the track the difference between these bikes will be determined by the pilot not the bike, they are just too similar - if you have a current model 400 keep it, if you are a new buyer or upgrading from a ninja 300 then go for the 500 for sure!
Ok let's settle, in oder to prove cfmoto vs kawasaki, we need a rematch actual shoot out who is the best in the King of speed of 500cc inline 2 category regardless of fancy techs and exotic design we focus on pure speed and acceleration so we can decide which better to buy, 450sr vs N500 drag race full top end
The 636 is a monster.. even I came from Ninja 650. The handling is amazing.. also when braking.. it feels composed, compared to the Ninja 650... My only complain is it's not a touring bike. But then again, my fault.. because I should have bought the Ninja 1000sx.
Soooo…what they’re saying is there’s really no reason for the 500 (450) to exist since we already have the 400. I actually like the fact that Kawasaki is going in so many different directions producing a wide range of bikes. But this one was a swing and a miss in my opinion.
swing and miss how? it gains torque over the 400 which means you can finally comfortably use the back seat ! also gains an impressive new infotainment system who cares about the small weight gain at that point. also remember the 500 is a bored out 400 engine meaning a tune will make more power also so if you're really upset at the weight just do that ! and it still perfectly fits the european A2 market and it will be exactly the same price as the 400 give or take a few hundred
@@Diontb Swing and a miss because the difference in any of those things isn’t enough to warrant the price difference or the split in sales from Kawasaki. You’ve now got the 400, 500, and 650 (not to mention the new inline 4 400). Anyone as a beginner is best served by the 400 (Almost universally recognized as the number 1 beginner bike). If moving up from there I certainly wouldn’t go to one with so little difference as the 500 but rather go at least to the 650. If Kawasaki doesn’t care about making money I suppose it would be fine for them to have a 400, 450, 500, 550, 600, 650, 700 etc but in my humble opinion it’s a questionable decision 🤷♂️.
@@someoneelse1i1i problem is with this comment 1. the 400 will be phased out 2. this bike IS the new 400 its the exact same bike bar the bored out engine and infotaiment you know that right? like exactly the same, most parts are the exact same. 3. this bike is for the beginner market hence why i said its for the A2 market, new A2 beginner riders will buy this and not the 400 now which i think is perfect as it adds the "future proofing" of the bike with the bigger engine and better infotainment so new riders wont feel compelled to change bikes so quickly. 4. the inline 4 400 is the zx4rr no? thats not even in the same world as this bike so im not sure why you'd mention it thats a full on monster lightweight trackbike for people who dont want the crazy power of bigger track bikes.
@@Diontb I can understand your point of view and from what I’ve read I also believe they’re going to drop the 400. In my opinion, however, it’s a mistake. The Kawasaki 400 is pushed as the perfect beginner bike by nearly every influencer (that actually knows anything) because it hits that “sweet spot” of power you can grow into while not too much to start on. They are essentially doing what so many car companies do on a regular basis - replacing a great product with one that doesn’t serve the purpose as well and is more expensive. And with the numbers on the 500 being what they are (horsepower is almost identical) I certainly don’t see that “won’t feel compelled to change bikes so quickly” being altered at all. Hey, I may be off the mark completely but considering what it costs Kawasaki to retool for a new line of cycles and the current “positive buzz” that the Ninja 400 enjoys it seems they could have simply updated the features and kept a winner. In my opinion this will cost them more than it will make them in the long term and we will see them moving away from this (or at least doing little to push this platform) in just a few years. Who knows, just my opinion.
It has changed. Engines are dynamic, a peak number of hp is not the only way to judge an engines character. I guess it is easy to miss that part of more torque, an earlier rpm to both peaks, and having imagination good at seeing potential with tuning
That is a total disappointment for Kawasaki. Clear marketing name. Conventional forks on a Sportbike in 2023? What a shame. CFMoto 450 SR is still better. It may have 39 nm for Torque, but it compensates it with a 50HP and a better hp-weight ratio. Don't get my wrong, "Kawa will always be Kawa", but they are clearly laughing on people's face with this Ninja "500". And of course, don't forget they'll blow its price a lot just for 50cc more. 450 SR still takes the lead. More quality and features, for less money; amazing reliable engine, not a lot of issues for being a "Chinese bike", and it's also a high gamma/premium bike.
They should have decreased the displacement, and give it an even higher revving engine for an even sportier feeling, the abomination they call the Ninja 500 is just a Touring bike with a sporty look, not what i buy a Ninja for
It should actually be called "Ninja 450" 😅

How is this compared to Honda CBR500r?
Being called 500 and a more city friendly approach will make it compete with CBR500R, and this can't compete against that
New buyer here, beginner, should I get the 400 or 500?
You should buy a used something else and form your own opinion after gaining some experience, and only then buying new. I promise you won't have to ask, if you do this. You also will greatly increase your chances of not messing up a factory bike
The 500 reminds me of my old gpz500s, if this bike is as much fun to ride it will sell well as the ninja 500 looks ace.
I agree seams like a gpz500s with a modern facelift and modern tech.
Ninja400HG has keyless feture and 500 in its name is they way they made their product sound better because of the larger engine like CBR500 has 471cc at least it's above 450cc
I think they would have been better off putting this engine in the Versys 300 and upgrading some of the suspension for a Versys 450.
Does this mean that Ninja 400 is discontinued? I live in a country where my license is split into 3: up to 200cc, up to 400cc and unlimited cc.
really saddens me as I only got the license for up to 400cc... no more ninja 400 means i gotta wait for Kawasaki to eventually make an electric equivalent.
RIP Ninja 400, just like the Versys 300. hopefully I can see a Versys or Ninja EV for 400cc and lower displacements
Top speed sir
115 MPH is the average reported top speed for the 400 but depends on rider weight and conditions.
It is a 'small' bike so it can really vary. (241 KM)
@@davidmacphee3549 500 ninja not 400,
I loved the evolution of the Ninja 400 and reading all the comments. A thrilling machine without all the Speeding tickets.
It's an Absolute Rush. Look at my little picture to the left up there.
Now that's a REAL 500! That's why I feel so offended. Just call it a 451 and be done with all the name calling. Apples and Oranges. It's not a 500 Kawasaki. Pretender to the throne?
Jeezsus Man! I know full well that the very Popular Ninja 4oo is a much better overall Bike than mine now but that was a different time, a different era. No showroom Car could beat it.@@rolanddiaz1974 NONE! Fasted thing on the street.
Tap on the shoulder, Did you see the Blue 750 Bud? Yeah, I know. That's crazy. People will die.
What about Ninja 500 VS CBR 500?
Need to increase the tire size. The 110/150 is perfect for the 400, but is still a eyesore, it will look much worse on a bigger 500.
Well, all you have to do when it's time to replace the tires, go up a size, it's not an issue!
자세한 비교 설명 감사합니다.
Hoping we get to see duke 890 vs the new 990! 🙏
Speaking of, is the ninja 450 better than the 450ss?
The American Version of the 500 is listed with 51 HP at 10k rpm
Ibam wondering Kawasaki ninja has placed its price lower than 400 in India ..they need to fix this issue .it seems they are so confused
It will be interesting to see if they bring out a Versy 450, sorry 500, as the Versy 300 is getting a bit out dated now. I have a 2023 Z400 and will keep this as there isn't enough improvements on this model and I agree with all the other comments that is should be called a 450.
If there was a performance difference id care, but there isnt. Id prefer the analog tac too. The 500 looks vetter, but the 400 is the way im going
Umm starting to think they are coming out with a 500RR to go after the CFMoto 500
Who's strong bro 450sr or ninja 400? Top speed and power?
450sr power wise by a bit, not sure about top speed
The new keyless shit is gonna be hackable af
Not as hackable as old "keyed" locks. They are hackable without complicated electronics
The main market for the 400 is japan because their medium bike license is limited to 400cc
In the real world or the track the difference between these bikes will be determined by the pilot not the bike, they are just too similar - if you have a current model 400 keep it, if you are a new buyer or upgrading from a ninja 300 then go for the 500 for sure!
How is sitting position for ninja 500 too upright or too lean?
same as the 400
They could've atleast upgraded the fork, the SE tft display is not worth it.
If MSRP is no more than $7500 USD I’ll get one
Only the SE gets the upgraded TFT display? c'mon Kawasaki, Other makers are fitting it as standard. and it really should be a 450 Ninja.
Agree.....every KTM 390 gets a TFT....
TFT is a shit
I'm between getting this 500 or the Aprilla
I hope they put the same upside down fork as the r3 and the same swing arm as the r3
Those aren't upside down. Damn. Are you blind?
@@josephweaver9579 Learn to read and understand
In terms with power to weight ratio,it is better to get the 400 than the 500.
N400 fits into racing classes whereas 451 is going to cause headaches in the homologation process. I'm not convinced.
Me on my '24 hayabusa watching these videos and actually liking them :|
So nothing added really, what am I paying for? Just for the updated dashboard and keyless entry?
The engine is different... I guess it would be easy to miss that. Just like the forks not being USD
Release when?
Trying to compete with cfmoto?
if u are wondering ninj400 phase out is because of 450sr cfmoto the new king thats y the kawasaki upgraded
Upgrade to same 450cc
Love my 400 way to much....now if it was a 636 id definitely consider moving up to that but not to a 500 only
The 636 is a monster.. even I came from Ninja 650. The handling is amazing.. also when braking.. it feels composed, compared to the Ninja 650... My only complain is it's not a touring bike. But then again, my fault.. because I should have bought the Ninja 1000sx.
One question
Why ❓
Show!
They're fighting with cfMoto 450 in the CF Moto 450 still wins oh my God that's so embarrassing
Win what? Top speed? Acceleration?
Kawasaki really missed the mark here, they should have made it 499cc and 270* crank
Think I’d still take the CF Moto 450
You cannot sell to the wise and the young cannot afford it.
All manufacturers: cars motorcycles and bicycles have lost their way.
By design
I think they have actually found their "way".. why else would they have made it? Oh yea, you didn't listen with an open mind.
I just bought the 500 (US), My MSO says 51.7 HP!!!!!!!😀
@@someoneelse1i1i problem is with this comment
1. the 400 will be phased out
2. this bike IS the new 400 its the exact same bike bar the bored out engine and infotaiment you know that right? like exactly the same, most parts are the exact same.
3. this bike is for the beginner market hence why i said its for the A2 market, new A2 beginner riders will buy this and not the 400 now which i think is perfect as it adds the "future proofing" of the bike with the bigger engine and better infotainment so new riders wont feel compelled to change bikes so quickly.
4. the inline 4 400 is the zx4rr no? thats not even in the same world as this bike so im not sure why you'd mention it thats a full on monster lightweight trackbike for people who dont want the crazy power of bigger track bikes.
@@someoneelse1i1i emissions... you gotta open your ears man... its a new year and new regulations.
Sorry if it is clser to 450 cc than 500 it is ninja 450 not 500 if t was 476 cc or more then round up to 500 if not this is BS
Honestly, it disturbes me that the name says 500 but the engine is 450, really don't like that.
In the US the 500 is 49hp
The horsepower don’t change WTF
Top speed? Acceleration?
Kawasaki always better on track, not on paper
Hmm... seems like another update bike. Just like Honda did an update on its CBR650R. It's mostly about gadgets.
