Is it just me, or does moon seem very bitter in his video? Even without Asmon calling him out on a lot of the stuff I feel like Moon's projecting so hard you can point him at a wall and watch the video like your at the cinema.
Moon is always bitter, that's his thing. He's also heavily into projecting his own sad, pathetic and paranoid existence onto any he perceives as his cultural enemies.

After watching a couple Moon videos, I can't help but feel that I can't trust what I'm watching, it's as if I'm being pushed into a narrative that ignores nuance. Good job for correcting this one
Asmongold is bound to defend Twitch though, because he made 2.5 million dollars from it.
True that fight club video made me super uncomfortable because it became hard to tell if the guy was talking about the movie or his own personal ideas.

people have gotten so used to taking sides they dont look at the things that actually happened, only who speaks it. judging the messenger and not the words he says.

The problem is that almost everything moon says is sophistry.

I stopped using twitch completely I just watch RUclips videos that people make. The ads are so god damn obnoxious that I cannot tolerate them.
when I tuned into Asmon's streams I ended up using a twitch adblocker called Twitch Adblock. I actually wouldn't mind too much watching ads, what sucks is that you can't skip them on Twitch after some time. At least RUclips usually offers the option to skip them after 5 seconds.
Watching/listening in on my phone ATM. On the Twitch mobile apps, watching vods is actually painful.

Lol it's fun watching asmongold call out some of this stuff. There are creators like this one and Jake Tran who throw together some detailed videos real quickly (zoomer style editing) which are interesting. But definitely have caught some mistakes fact checking them; and they seem to make them with an outcome (agenda) in mind before researching. But typically it's the outcome the audience has wishful thinking for anyway so it doesn't get much negative feedback.

To be fair, Twitch did "ban" the words virgin, incel, and simp. They did come out and say "you can't call people these things on Twitch" but with the footnote of "under these circumstances." It was a rule that means nothing, but was created to placate the sensitive snowflakes who throw a lot of money at certain kinds of usually female streamers.
Wow this guy completely lost the plot with mods and banning people. While I agree that people who talk shit then ban people who mildly disagree with them are big babies, they do have the right to be that way. And to pretend harassment never happens on Twitch is delusional.

The one thing he didn't bring up that is factual is that women get punished WAAAAAAYYY less severely than men. They did not mention that almost the entire inspiration behind twitch came from competitive starcraft and how huge it was overseas.
I find some of this very solid, like pointing out that "deer-people" can be whatever they want as long as it doesn't effect others, and that people can say crap under pressure they otherwise wouldn't.
There are also bits where I think you're falling short. For instance, talking about how of course larger creators get preferential treatment then immediately claiming you are an example of how certain types of censorship aren't happening.
On censorship, there always is a "pattern," a reason why things happen, but it's not always going to be something easily seen. People are treated unequally, and the formula for why is not always easily apparent.
Anyhow, appreciate your perspective. You always come across as genuine.
I think his video could have been shorter by simply saying: "I used to waste all of my time on Twitch, but now I hate the site, and I am mad that I have no where to waste my time!"

Like when he was talking about 'watching twitch hour after hour slack jawed on your bed' I was thinking yeah dude for you maybe but most people I know who use the platform have it on in the background or on a second monitor while enjoying other activities. I would watch twitch back when they had the desktop app, but after I was forced to the website I found that it was riddled with adverts, which I am unable to stand watching anymore.
They never advertise anything I'm interested in, and I am usually so offended by the product getting in the way of my enjoyment I actively avoid the thing they try too sell me.
This video contained a lot of mistake and definitely had a agenda behind it, Moon and other channels like jake Tran seems to cater to people with the same mindset yet contains wrong information

every react to moon video ive seen has had the same format; lead with factual history thats generally very interesting and well presented followed with some decent takes and then devolving into a bad take opinion piece. I find it to be deceptive and leading, ironic since he presents himself as a woke youtube docu whistleblower. C-tier content. I love Asmon for keeping a cool head and not letting his personal opinion of Moon's content get in the way of debunking and debating the content.

I've seen quite a few instances in Moon's videos where he clearly didn't do his due diligence with fact checking. His videos are full of false claims and some of them seem intentional and manipulative.
His video fits a certain ideology's narrative, the goal wasn't to do due diligent fact-checked video it was to create a video essay that fit's his and his cultivated viewers mindset.
I am sure there is a target audience of viewers that thinks like this it's alot of subjective stuff. Mix of facts and some one telling you what to think is popular.

Moon doesn't write his own videos. He just copy pasta stuff verbatim that other channels with lower subs have claimed. His reddit video word for word copied from Overlord channel. I mean, as far as I'm aware, Moon has been busted doing that like 20 times now. He probably doesn't actually think about the stuff he copy pasta'ing and repeating. Like that dude has a filter list on his comment section and delete comments.
This is the first good take I've seen on the situation, I think. Yeah I don't watch her, or even really like her, but I can understand what she's feeling, and why she said what she said. Imagine being attacked for days.
I wish more Tos's were written from the perspective you talk about things from. It would all make a lot more sense that way. Excellent commentary really well said.
So, I do love me some conspiracy theories. And I thank you for doing the service of calling out Moon. I can't stand what Twitch has become, but it is a bit less of a top-down tyranny thing and more of a sitewide culture issue, including cancel campaigns drawing inordinate attention to things they don't like.

You did miss one thing though. They have banned some games from being streamed for pretty arbitrary reasons.
We played Rift with Justin a few times where he asked if it was ok to broadcast on his website. I can't remember if he was streaming on Justin TV or Twitch that spun off the same year in 2011. He was a pretty friendly guy. It was either a dungeon group where we filled the one spot or if it was a pick-up raid we did. It was funny how we thought it was cool but didn't think it would go anywhere since "why would people watch others play games?" We were so wrong and now it is just a story I have.
Man our guild should have jumped on it and started streaming with him, the content would have been great, but we would all have been cancelled. Our male and female guild members were not filtered at all and we joked about everything back then, lol.
Dude, I’m just comparing this guy to SunnyV2 in my head. Imagine if Sunny made such generalizations as these. He’s usually just saying what the information is saying and using the information to tell the story. Imagine if in that LMFAO video, he just instead started off calling Redfoo a horrible person and went the rest of the video with that undertone. Then sprinkled in some lies to keep up the narrative. That’s what this video feels like, at least the parts after the Justin tv description, and even then now I question that some. It’s like, even if Twitch is going downhill, at least use facts to show it, not some generalizations and lies.

The thing with the 'deergasm' lady not affecting your life is kind of more nuianced. When someone attributes what society would consider an 'oditty' to their normal persona, then demands that you aknowlege it as part of your perception of what you feel is reality, thats when people start taking it certain ways. It may affect you in a more tertiary way then first realised. Maybe not in an immediate and 'material' way, but there are ripples that will make it to your shores. I think it would be kind of silly to have someone demand I aknowledge a person is a deer, or whatever it may be, under threat of violating some ToS. If you want to be a deer, a bear, a rock, an alien, whatever, thats fine. Just dont demand that I change my view of reality to fit yours. Do you, just dont demand that I play along with you as well.

I wholeheartedly agree with some people who believe that Asmon has a nasty habit of contradicting himself either over the course of months or even in the same sentence. I suppose it’s intellectually honest, just not consistent or something I would take advice from in any capacity.
He also missed the entire point of the video by a country mile. It’s not streamers who are the issue, it’s twitch staff and their laughably bad cherry picking of who gets which rules enforced and when, for how long, and why. It’s Wild West in there, but I wouldn’t expect someone like Asmongold to understand that because he’s insulated from it all. The second he loses revenue for Twitch his own audience will destroy his account overnight on that platform.

Bigger streamers get special treatment because they bring money, small streamers don't get special treatment because they don't bring money. It's that simple. Not saying it's perfect, not saying it's right even - but from business perspective it makes sense 100%. Because, like it or not, Twitch is a business, and businesses need money to operate.

Well that video certainly took a sharp turn from interesting documentary to poorly researched, deliberately manipulative agenda-piece. I'm glad Asmon called out all of the inconsistencies and false information. More than half of this guy's problems can be solved by, "Don't like it? Watch a different streamer." That “connection loop” designed to keep you distanced from your family and neighbors argument could be said for Netflix, Hulu, Reddit, iPhones, etc.
It’s almost like there’s an assumption that people are specifically consuming Twitch content to replace human connection and interaction, as opposed to them just wanting to consume media because they like it.

I think I have seen some of his videos as I remember the voice and it was pretty good but this one is awful, he should have consulted someone else more knowledgeable with the subject, I hope he updates this soon

During covid a lot of entertainment industries strived, but Moon is right: a lot of people went over to twitch, tiktok, youtube and other social media platforms to connect with people. People who didnt want to put work into that tried to become part of someone´s life in another way and mostly did that by "paying" people to talk to them (through subs, ad revenue, etc.).
The message this guy was trying to convey, wasn’t that big time streamers “never get punished” as you said, it’s the double standard of *actual* punishment, or, permanent bans.
Big time streamers as you pointed out, get “suspended” when every other creator (and there are hundreds of examples) who has a lower viewer count has been permanently banned for doing the EXACT same thing.
Bigger streamers get a wrist slap, a suspension means nothing.

The word ban of incel, simp and virgin only didn’t happen because literally everyone called them out for it. They knew if they went through with it, everyone would either ignore the rule, leave the platform or whatever else people would respond. I used to watch Moon, but I don't know if I've reached one end of the political spectrum on the internet or if I am consuming an equal variety of different perspectives and ideologies. It's a problem I often have and I think many others suffer from a similar issue and that it is healthy to consume multiple political standpoints consistently. I just felt like sharing that idk why I did but have a nice day.

Hasan got suspended for saying cracker while other smaller channels got BANNED permanently. The punishments are not fair or equal. Big streamers get a pass while small streamers get the book handed to them.

This is one of these videos that looks well presented and sounds well researched because of how well spoken the narrator is.
However, it is factually shallow, propped up by tenuously relevant quotes.
The whole narrative sounds like sour grapes. Maybe someone who was not reciprocated in a parasocial relationship.
And worse still, contradicting himself on the simple stuff.
He goes on about streamers banning and sensoring viewers, then goes after Twitch for not sensoring Hasan who's advocating for socialism. You can't have it both ways. If you advocate for the free speech of the viewers you have to advocate for a streamers free speech too.
Free speech should be free for everyone, not just the people who shares your view point.
Don't get me wrong though, I believe freedom of speech is not freedom from consequences.

Moon has plagiarized videos from other creators before (proof = search for *"Did Moon copy my video?"* by "Overlord Gaming").
Once a plagiarizer always a plagiarizer. I doubt this video isn't more than bits and pieces copied from other sources which would explain why it's incoherent. That's what sucks with plagiarizers, when they're allowed to continue with support they simply get better at hiding it.
