There is plenty of them around. Do something different that isn't on RUclips there is alot of Aussie cars that you can't find on here. Bf F6 would be mad. I'd say review my car but it's the same as the one in this video 😂
I bought a Heron White 2001 VX Calais (Series 1) in mid 2008 for $3,000 with 155k km on the clock, (fake) woodgrain dash and dual catback exhaust. It hasn't done me wrong and I smile every time I drive it. You really don't need $7,000 to get a solid one, but I did get a good deal on it as one in the condition of mine would go for $5,000. Definitely worth owning and driving if you're fine with 15.5-16.5 l/100 km just day to day driving. About 11-12 l/100 km in the country.
We've got the eight cylinder Caprice from 2006 same colour. It drives as well today as it did fourteen years ago and in that time it's cost almost zero dollars in repairs. I've driven about 250,000 kms and I still love this comfortable car but being almost eighty and the wife not far behind me, the rego and fuel costs have her wanting a smaller car, maybe a Skoda. It wouldn't be the same, would it?
I had a gold one I regret selling mine had a lot of work done it had 320rwhp on 12psi with built 4l60e it lacked traction and surprised a lot of performance cars such as xr6t xr8 ss and some wrx and other “sports cars” like supra mkiv turbo, skyline gtfour
The 4 speed automatics are excellent quality in this car.. The gear ratio in the automatics is very smooth and my Holden V6 statesman has already done 425,000 kms with the original running gear.. Try top that in your european bmw's audi's and merc's ! That Buick ecotec v6 was one of the world's best engines' made at the time.
L67 3800 was very underrated in Australia, Holden detuned and only fitted it with a slushbox in the 2002 Monaro when they discovered it was quicker and handled better than the stickshift 5.7 liter slug V8.
I’ve owned the VT (model before this) Calais international Super 6 and can tell you from experience that although they are a fun drive you will not be seeing sub 12 second times for less than 4g after spending around $3000 in mods for mine including 1.9: 1 Ratio Roller Rockers and the 2.4 inch Supercharger Pulley and a full exhaust system and extractors I was able to make the best of a 13.2 on the quarter mile. That being said they are comfortable cars and feel quick and I would own one again in a heartbeat, Good review I have now subbed to the channel and would love to see reviews of more similar cheap performance cars.
If you're seriously considering buying one, do note that they're thirsty to run and to keep an ear on the supercharger snout when they get to 150k km as they can start to make a grinding noise, meaning a snout rebuild is due, which last time I checked is about $500 for the rebuild kit. Apart from that, they make for a comfortable, fun daily
This makes the BA look so much better. But imagine spending $7,000 on this when you can get a 2012 German built Ford Focus Titanium Turbo Diesel for the same price which can park itself, stop itself and has airbags.
MattBrandCars if the supercharged Sedan was the same year as the Focus, say a supercharged FPV, but the Focus has more torque, and six speed dual clutch. Very good fuel economy.
@@CarSauce It's initial life started out as 165kw/224hp & 365nm on the VS Series II Commodore lineup, then later on the VT - VY Series 2 saw power outputs vary from 171kw/232hp (375nm) and 180kw/244hp (380nm) depending on the non HSV & HSV XU6 models. The vehicle itself is nice, but it's overall mechanical condition is a bit to be desired, i've heard rumours this example was severely neglected & needed major work unfortunately. Keep up the good work though !
@@CarSauce Biggest let down was LSD being optional across the board when it would benefit from extra mechanical traction instead of relying souly on traction control 😂
Holden knew all about the 5speed manual behind the L67... that's why they didn't fit one in the CV6 Monaro... because they discovered it was quicker than the 5.7 slug V8. 😂😁😆
@@mael-strom9707 You are wrong. The main reason the L67 only came in 4 Speed auto was to stop hoons dropping the clutch at 6OOOrpm and because the 5 speed Getrag or T5 manual couldn't handle the torque. Especially the low down torque.
He dose know instead of saying 2002 holden Calais he can just call it a vx Calais love peaple who review these cars and only read the book can tell your not a holden guy or a car guy
Drive different? Different tuning capabilities? There is a reason they offered a supercharged model seperate to the standard 6 cylinder seperate to the V8
Lol my tiny little d series Honda civic had more gears then this 😂 also my stock vy Ecotel goes harder then this I reckon like what you said, get an ECU tune it maybe put a bigger cam in it run it on 98 or better put a manual 5 speed 6 speed and a lsd diff and your good to go you’ll be pushing an extra 300hp at the least lol has a lot of potential but stock these motors are crap
Great video mate hoping to see more holdens and fords on here
Much appreciated! Hopefully both Holden and Ford will start giving me cars to review 😜

It also came with a limited slip diff from a VY SS, but I'm not wanting to stomp on it in a corner to test it
@@MuscleCarLover Word of advice, avoid this example hahaha
I had the same engine in my 1999 Buick Regal GS in the US. It was a blast to drive!
Those GM 3800 engines are bullet proof and are very forgiving and cheap as chips to modify.
You can get quite a bit of hp from the L67 V6, My dad has 317hp in his Supercharged V6 WH Statesman which goes like hell.
If you read the owners manual, the power button is meant to be used while towing. Not essentially a sport mode at all
Had no idea, but very interesting to know! Thanks 🙂
Haha... power/sport mode... who cares about semasiological deixis linguistics?!! 😂🤣😅😋
If u push the button at the top of the middle seat and fold it down it should have cupholders in it. My vt calais has the same interior
Modded L67 in a VY ute with a T56 conversion much more fun.
Sounds like fun!
L67 with T56 in Toyota Corolla AE86... even more fun. 🤣😋
@johnathan smith yes the flywheel needs to mirror balanced to the old flexplate and the the flywheel then installed into correct balance point.

just putting 10 psi pulley on the charger makes it so much more fun
