I make a statement at the 12:42: "If you adjust this distance, you need to adjust your camera focus distance". NOTE: This is no longer true with the CAMERA FOCUS Null Object that was created. That was a statement from the first version of this video. I apologize for missing that. Just know, that you do NOT need to adjust your Camera Focus Distance as it now updates automatically. Please let me know if this makes sense.
Awesome tutorial! Have a question though: what if I wanted more than 4 in the carousel? The "set media comps off by 1000 pixels" at 2:50 doesn't work when you have more than 4 directions to set them off by. Is there a quick fix for this? Thanks!!
I also am unable to get the different media comps to set as a different colour. If I change the color of Media 2, it applies to all 4 comps, anyone able to help!?
Pretty easy. Draw a grid 10x10 in Illustrator. Make square that covers the whole grid. Make polygon with vertices equals to how many objects you want. Center the polygon with the square a hide the square. Now you have simple coordinate system and you can count off coordinates of the vertices (you can multiply them by 10 or any other number). If you want to be more precise, make the grid 20x20 or 100x100... For example I made grid 10x10, drew a square and a hexagon wide as the square. Then the left an right vertices are z=-10 and z=10. Those two vertices which will be in the back are x=-5, z=-8,65 (circa) and x=5, z=-8,65, those in front x=-5, z=8,65 (circa) and x=5, z=8,65. Then I multiplied every number by 100. I hope you get it, my english is not very good, especially in math.
Thank you for the lesson! But in order to fulfill it, I had to work hard. I did not immediately understand that CAMERA CONTROLLER / Transform / Position (Z) needed to compensate for Camera / Transform / Position (Z). I performed the lesson three times until I realized where the answer is hidden). But he learned me the material very well !!! Thanks again!
@@josephkent3788 For the tutorial itself, or for the content in the carousel? For the content, it would be super easy. As a matter of fact, those social media icons are square. If you mean to turn this tutorial into a square format, that would take some work.

Thanks for that info about the Camera Focus Distance. It made this episode that much better. I really appreciate you watching, absorbing, and taking the time to figure out a way to make this more advanced.
This is great, thanks. if I want to speed up or slow down the rotation, ie: ramp it down. it gets a little messy. The carousel seems to go backward. My work around it is to take this into another comp and then "time-remap" it. So the question I have is there a better way to do this?
You should be able to control the speed by adjusting the time expression. If you're using keyframes, I'll have to go back and see what the issue is. It shouldn't go reverse, and it should allow for easing.... that's interesting. I'll check it out.
Thanks for the killer tutorial! What would be the best way to speed ramp as each Media comp comes into focus so it moves in and out quicker and slows down as it passes in focus?
Hey! It's a great tutorial! Thanks for sharing. I'm gonna use it for displaying testimonials in a video form. Is there an easy way to stop each slide for a 3-4 seconds, and then slide to another image?
You’ll want to focus on the ROTATION layer. To have this rotate and stop, remove the script for time, and then add keyframes that go from 0-90 and let it sit for a few seconds, then 90-180, etc. With four screens increase the distance by 90 degrees each time.
Hello, very nice tutorial! I did everything and it worked out very well. Just a question, how can I make the rotation stop and for example focus on one?
imSev You need to remove the time expression on the rotation layer and instead use key frames on the Y axis of the rotation of that layer. This will spin the carousel right and left. Let me know if that helps!
Hey there! Thank you so much for this but I've a quick question. I followed your tutorial word for word and managed to reach the same result but I was wondering how do I convert this 4-media carousel to a 3-media one. I'm going to try to fool around with it a bit and see if I manage to do it (plus trying to make it stop for a few seconds on each media before continuing to the next) but if you've got some pointers for that (and for the stopping) I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!
trying to do a similar thing. the stopping is the hard part, i'm keyframing the rotation in MASTER CONTROL but it does funny things when you go from a higher to a lower rotation value. it treats that decrease as negative rotation so the carousel reverses direction temporarily. it's weird. still figuring out how to fix
