Great Tutorial! I’m just gonna leave this here. 0:47 Offset/Move The Keyframes 3:45 Index/I Got Your Number 6:57 Linear/Music Time 11:55 Clamp/Let’s Not Get Crazy Here 15:07 Value At Time/ Lagging Motion
@@TurkeyMaze it's useful when, let's say you have a bouncing animation at 45 degree angle, so you can basically, bounce the ball once and then it'll keep on bouncing on that diagonal path because of offset. Which frees up your position keyframes to do whatever kind of animation you want.
This is my introduction to using expressions. I've been using After Effects a lot back in the day but this is sadly fairly new to me. I have an assignment coming up where I have to make use of the application a lot and this will significantly improve my workflow. Thank you!
Man, that so usefull, i love it! I haven't seen something like this since Andrew Kramer stopped doing great tutors, thanks a lot! And linear - it's so understandable in this video!
Thank you so much! I loved putting this one together. I use the linear expression all the time. Once you're able to figure it out the potential uses are infinite. - C
Great tutorial and you're a good explainer. Great, to the point stuff with no extra flab or babble that plagues some other tutorials on RUclips. Only suggestion: show a nice design that uses these expressions.
Great tutorial. When you're bringing up the idea of using these with the essential graphics panel, what types of graphics are you creating that you would use these with?
Lower third templates usually, but you could really do anything that needs to be created on a regular basis. I've used the linear expression a lot to adjust bar length and things like that.
Wow, amazing tips. I use the time expression to create continuous movement, never thought the loop expression could do the same thing. We learn something new everytime. :) Thanks so much for the great tips.
Great tutorial, definitely very informative. However, in the longer expressions, why are you not using variables to simplify your expressions? It would make it a lot easier to understand what's going on in the expression. Anyway, good work. Keep them coming!
Nice vid! How did you animate the repeating rotating shapes at the bottom of the Linear explanation? Just duplicated the shapes over and over and positioning them? Or is that an expression too?
Just curious, can anybody give an example of when/is there any occasion that loopOut("offset"); would b useful in terms of workflow wise and time efficient compare to just move the object outside of the canvas manually?
Great Tutorial!

Whats the purpose of the offset tip when you can simply set two position keyframes and move them how you want? I don't see the difference.
@@TurkeyMaze can the font be changed? Thank you!

How to use "INDEX" with unseparable 2 (or 3) values like "scale" ?
Thanks so much mate
that's super cool
outer radious:
thisComp.layer(index-1).content(“Polystar 1”).content(“Polystar Path 1”).outerRadius.valueAtTime(time-.5);
rotation:
thisComp.layer(index-1).transform.rotation.valueAtTime(time-.5);
You are the best.
i’m a fan.

That is a really good tip. Honestly, we should probably do an entire tutorial on variables and their potential usage in AE.
Nice vid! How did you animate the repeating rotating shapes at the bottom of the Linear explanation? Just duplicated the shapes over and over and positioning them? Or is that an expression too?
That's the offset loop! :)
So the Clamp expression 's use is to Limit the value of the Slider Control
AMAZING
Very good job..👍🏼👍🏼
Nice tutorial, could you please teach how to remove softs from a ? for karaoke purposes. Than you
How could I give more than 1 thumbs-up? That was so damn useful!

Handy tips, many thanks
