My great-grandpa was in the 811th tank destroyers in WWII He ended up getting injured in Belgium and re-turned home alive. He earned the silver star, bronze star 🎖️ and Purple Heart, after WWII Ronald Reagan himself wrote a personal letter to him and my grandparents have it to this day.
I’ll be 21 soon but my Grandpa, not Great ( because he had my mom at the age of 47 ) was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division on D-Day. Wish I could have gotten to meet him.
It's Cool to see a representation of a Canadian Sherman at any event. I find that The Canadian contribution to the war effort is often forgotten so it's nice to see people represent Canadian troops at events like this.
@@patrickancona1193 , Thank you! I do not own this tank but I am just one of the selected, dedicated people that crew it. It takes about about 8-10 hrs of maintenance for 1 hour of "playtime" but there is nothing else like it!
The Ford GAA engine had nothing to do with the P51 Mustang. The Ford V12 engine was designed for aircraft use but had no buyers because the Allison's V-1710 and Rolls Royce Merlin were better inline engines. The 76mm was designed and tested in 41-42 alongside the 90mm as a replacement for the 3-inch gun from WW1. The British did not want the 76mm as the 17-pounder was a better gun and it created more logistics issues with an additional round. In the end, the 1st Polish Armored Division in NWE and British Armored forces in Italy were mostly supplemented with 76mm Shermans rather than the 17-pounder. Everything else was correct and a very good overview of the Late War Sherman tank.
Hey, I am a really big fan of yours and knowing how much you love re-enactments, you should drop in at WW2 Days in Rockford, Illinois! It’s a really great experience with plenty of people, one of the largest re-enactments in America! I’d love to see you there!
The stabilizer unfortunately wasn’t used well by most tank units. However, the 2nd armored division, under Patton utilized the short stab to deadly effect.
Yes many units did not use the gun stabilizer due bad manuals and lack of training due to poor leadership decisions . Unlike Patton's divisions were he made sure his tank crews got the training so they could use their Sherman's to full effectiveness. Also the later versions Stuart M5 and Chaffee m24 had stabilized main guns as did the late war M26 Pershing .
Mine too homie. So many variants. So many possibilities in one tank. Rhino tank. Flail/Crab tank. 75, 76, or 105. Cast or Welded. Variant A1, A2, A3, and the hardly seen A4. And the HVSS or VVSS. And finally Wet or Dry.
Very cool, had a Uncle In Patton’s 5th (I come from okie dirt farmers, 12 kids had 12-15 kids a pop in the civil war & it just got crazy biggly from there, I had a uncle in just about every infantry unit including Canuckastain & England) & they loved this tank
Fantastic presentations are guaranteed everytime on this channel, and this ones no exception. Ive never been left disappointed after watching. Another young man, that knows his stuff....and.....presents it very well. Best wishes from UK to all those involved in these uploads. Thank you for sharing👏👍
Hi please make a video about where you can find places that do them because I really want to get into reenactment but I can’t find any places please help love your videos I’m from England
I note that these guys are all wearing tanker boots or Ammo boots - which British tank crews didn't usually wear - they often got shot of them in favour for more comfortable footwear - or so according to Ken Tout.
i love the easy eight, its the best looking sherman. i wonder hows the amour holds up against german AT gun or tank guns at late war? and how close the E8 has to go in order to penetrate say the tiger from the front?
I hate to be “that guy” but the Sherman didn’t begin production until 1942, and E8 was not until 43-44. Him saying that the Sherman was being designed in the late 30s is just incorrect. The concept and the design was not created till 1941, and in that year the first Sherman prototype. Let alone the E8. That’s all, great video!
This might be a silly question but how did they clear the beach for Normandy?? Did they announce everyone a week earlier to get off the beach cause there’s going to be an invasion??
The Germans did not allow people to go to the beach because it was part of the atlantik wall. You would be shot without much hesitation if went there and it was also filled with mines. Basically not a place you want to be, because you were almost guarenteed to die of you did.
I'm not sure what he was talking about the engine of the p51 unfortunately went to merlin,??? The wording doesnt make sense, does he mean it was an Allison engine or a Packard built merlin before ford, cos if it had the merlin like the ones used and modified in British comet tanks, it would have been a super bonus, so I'm not sure of his meaning. There was nothing unfortunate about going to a merlin, an amazing bit of kit, so say the experts and hence why the p51 used it.
And yet every German tank from the Panzer IV to the Tiger II was better in one on one combat than any version of the M4 Sherman. Germany basically lost because the Allies could out produce Germany in Tank production. Not a fair fight 1 Tiger vs. 6 Shermans.
Why is it called an Easy Eight? Check out my follow up video for the answer:

That is one knowledgeable young man. Great command of the subject, and no hint of a teleprompter!
He really knew his stuff! I’m glad he was willing to explain everything so thoroughly.

I agree! Thankfully there are some very dedicated Canadian reenacting groups in the US who do a great job
Anyone who knows their stuff, can point to any battle with those crazy Canadians and say: “They blew shit up and said sorry!”
Oh lord I was dreading when this was going up. 😂
Pleasure to meet you at DDay Ohio and happy to be on the channel!
Thanks for giving such a well done presentation! Hope to see you there again next year

I was gonna say, some of it was off
The obligatory "Well ackshully" post we all knew was down here somewhere.
I remember this tank from D-Day Ohio. I didn’t think it was until I saw “Arrogant Bastard” on the side of the hull

So cool to learn how the Sherman was engineered, Great Video!
Great job explaining the sherman. Dad was tank commander same tank in Korean War. 2nd Army Division.
I love you’re videos dude! Keep up the amazing work!!! : )
As someone who's just getting into tabletop historical wargaming and modelling, I'm learning so much. This was really helpful!
This is my favorite Sherman variant. I think this is the most balance Sherman tank design of the war
That guy is very knowledgeable about tanks👍🏽

Was wondering if your name is Sawyer and did you go to Ohio State? Just found this channel love the content.
Nah, and I definitely didn’t live on floor 10 or Smith Steeb either 🤫
“Arrogant bastard” 😂
Loved the suspension. But why do modern tanks today did not adapt it?
I learned a lot
love the videos
The M3 is the continuation of the M2 which everyone knows of
The Wet Stowage ammunition only really worked because the ammunition was moved to the bottom of the hull

Hi
hello
Too bad the people in the background couldn't keep their mouths shut. It's hard to hear over them flapping their jaws constantly.
Help me pls please respond i need you
I hope they get sent to Ukraine with some upgrades
If they do it will be lend lease ones on the Russian side.
The Israelis used upgraded Super Shermans into the 1980’s.

You’re a not well informed person if you actually believe that statistic.
Yea that’s not true
I mean your right about allies winning because of production numbers, but thats about it
