2019 Yamaha Niken GT Review | MC Commute

- Опубликовано: 1 авг 2024
- Following last year’s release of Yamaha’s awesome Niken leaning multi-wheeler, the Tuning Fork brand unveils a touring-specific GT variation for 2019. The Yamaha Niken GT ($17,299) builds upon the lofty levels of comfort and performance that’s ingrained into its unique design, allowing riders to travel farther and more comfortably.
--
The Niken GT shares the same three-wheel-equipped chassis as the standard Niken. The front end makes use of a pair of 15-inch wheels with fully independent suspension and steering components. Yamaha’s fun-loving 847cc CP3 inline-three powers the Niken GT and is good for upwards of 100 hp. The engine has been retuned slightly (heavier crankshaft) for additional engine torque.
Compared to the standard Niken the GT spec machine gets a larger windscreen as well as heated grips and removable (and lockable) soft luggage. Cruise control is also standard, as is an additional DC power port. The rider and passenger saddles are upgraded and have a thicker, yet more plush design that makes it easy to rack up the miles with ease.
In this episode of MC Commute, we share the backstory behind the Niken and talk about how the idea came to fruition. We also discuss some of its best features and what it’s like to operate on the road. Watch the video and sound off in the comment section below.

One things for sure about this machine; It's definitely a machine.
Oh was it a machine? I hadn't picked that up from this video. Thank you for clarifying
@@PatYouells You are most welcome, good sir! lol :)
😂
take a shot every time you are reminded
is he really a senior editor..?
Due to an audio issue in our first version of this video we have reuploaded the video with corrected audio.
thank you
Yep, thank you.
@@ossojonesify It'll get better from here. I'd rather a re-upload with better audio and your "issues" than a bad audio version of the same.
You should pin this maybe
Did you add more “machine”
The Best Nikken video I've seen so far! Excellent job!
He said the word "machine" 24 times in this 26 minute long video.
Someone buy this man a thesaurus.
Contraption
I counted it 31 times if you included "machines".
"thingamajig"
Wow
Motor-bicycle thingy
"I learned alot about this machine, this machine is a fascinating machine"
What a fucking dumbass of a reviewer. I'd rather he shut the fuck up and let the machine speak for itself.
Hahahaha I noticed that too
One sentence three times machine
I think these new commutes are getting better and better! Nice job, Adam, thanks and looking forward to see more from you, man!
Nope the old guys were much better and miss them and their reviews.
@@danielthompson803 spot on, previous reviewers were far better. Editor needs to go back behind the camera and get his machine mouth out of it.
Great video. So much more natural than the earlier ones. I like the insight into the feel while riding and the discussion of practical application.
Starting to really like these, great job !
Best review of this bike I have seen, thanks so much, loved it.
The most comprehensive Niken review yet
This machine looks like it has all the qualities in a machine that I always wanted in a machine! What a machine!
Drinking game: every time the guy says “Machine” neck a beer!
2:32 already wasted.
you must be a kiwi?
I have alcohol poisoning...
I shouldn't have done this......
2:03-2:24 If somebody could pull that off I would be very impressed lmao
Great to hear some of the technical details regarding this beast
you mean, this machine.
The most gentlemanly wheelie I've ever seen.
Love it Adam, keep em coming
This is the only review where the rider has given the niken some beans and opened her up..nice one !
My god, the cost of a fork rebuild will bankrupt a man!
Blue waffle cone but seals should last twice as long as they individually handle 1/2 the typical load of a ‘normal’ motorcycle, no?
Thanks for the review, Adam
Nice review man! 👍
Dismissed this initially, but I'm definitely intrigued on the cornering grip. Would be a good 2nd or 3rd bike. Nice review.
I still miss Ari, but this clip might've endeared me to the new crew. So much knowledge and respect for the machine. dig it!
Where can we find Ari nowadays?
This is a pretty cool Machine I really like it. This bike reminds me of when Yamaha put out the GTS 1000.
Yamaha continues to put out mechanically interesting machines.
That Machine has Decepticons written all over it , freaking awesome!
That's better! Now we just have to get Adam to drop his lollipop addiction..
"this machine is machine"
wow such review, such machine. machine.
yamaha motorcycle machine, machine. its a machine machine you know.
Much machine many wheels
*lip smack*
much wow doge like
hahaha
It's a very machine machine and machine this machine is so machine.
Deeply fascinating that it even exists. What a time we live in.
your getting better at this man
MrSuperrajab you’re
I love being able to watch your videos with the use of the interwebs machine through the RUclips machine on my iPad machine while listening through my headphone machine.
Machine
Great job Adam!, Thanks for the upload.
Sounds and looks like an awesome tricycle, if i may.
Definitely would make a great touring cycle.
I would love to get this machine, but i wouldn't be able to split through tight urban traffic jams like new york's.
I gotta go ride it on one of these dealers' demo days though haha, so i'm tempted after watching this vid.
That has got to be fun to ride!
What happens if you're cornering so much as you do but there is an oil for example or ice, will it fall like other motorcycles or what? Thanks if you reply!
Maybe it would high side but I doubt it could low side. And if it's as well sorted as a MP3, you might be able to get it to drift if you try really hard.
Now for something really cool, have a look at the Decopod on Jay Leno's Garage.
You could probably low side if your obstacle is under both front wheels. Id say you would pull out ok if it was just under one of the wheels.
Epic video review of a nice machine, watching this felt like running a fine machine, it was just machinetastic!
Awesome "machine"! LOL And really good quality on the narration and video quality.
All your Kenny Powers dreams shall come true.
Reminds me of the Maxam. I like how Yamaha releases its outrages and they sometimes do well
Nice! Adam is doing his best! You others take it easy on him!
If this is his best, then we should all join hands and sing kumbaya.
Come on dude, expecting professionalism from mainstream motorcycle review magazine is not too much to ask for.
If I wanted to see an amateur review "machine", there are plenty of individual owned youtube channels.
Not here.
RIP Zack.
That's an exquisite neighborhood to ride a bike as exquisite as Niken..
This machine has been machined not like any other machines out there. Machines to infinity ang beyond!
this machine is a machine that does stuff only a machine can do. what a machine
You are the Best Reviewer Sir ❤️
Wish my commute was more like this!
What an astonishing machine
I learned one thing here, this machine is a great machine.
im more at awe not as much for the bike but for the neighbourhood... so many nice cars and houses .. would love to live there someday
lol bentley parked on the street, gtfo
Great job, thanks! How about a "mirror report"? Really like this format for reviews / checking out bikes. I can read specs all day long, but the ride along is so great. The details of what we riders face every ride are included, clutch feel, break feel, mirror location, throttle response, twitchy in the corners, refueling ease, kickstand and / or center stand, windshield effectiveness, seat comfort , does the bike look great but feel cheap, and so forth. Bikes can be so sexy, but some are like being married to a supermodel; sexy to look at but very impractical for the long run. Thanks Adam!
Engineer: So how many tires do you want on this thing?
Yamaha: Yes
U forgot to use the word *machine*
yes machine
@@ninoricoamancio5670 Engineer: So how many tires do you want on this *machine*?
Looks like a smooth ride I bet you feel secure putting power down and cornering.
VERY VERY INGENIOUS, WELL DONE!
@motorcyclist_magazine Adam -- Excellent review and lots of experiential detail. Gives the viewer a good sense of how riding it feels.
Really looking forward to do a test ride in this bike, curious about the dynamics
It looks like a beast
anybody else car spotting the entire first part of the video when hes driving around the neighborhood? caught that ferrari portofino and the 911 right behind it. and like a million e class mercs and 3 series bimmers.
niken was cool too lol
and the bentayga
That's my Portofino!
What can I say; I'm a rich kid...
Yeah, you can tell it's a rough neighborhood.
It's a similar situation in Scottsdale, AZ. Exotic and high dollar classic cars are commonplace.
Rough neighborhood
I bought this “machine” this year. Exactly gt version, lots of fun follow
At 3:32 I thought he was going rear end the car at the light. MY HEART!!!
Pretty cool set-up, looks like good fun. I wonder if Yamaha could incorporate a self balancing system on this machine, some sort of device you could lock off when it's in the upright position. That would be super cool. Nice video presentation MM. I bet you pi55ed of a lot of drivers weaving through the bumper to bumper queuing traffic.😁
Looks pretty cool
That's a dope futuristic motorcycle
Great review, can you do an updated review on the 2022 Niken models? Also a review of the Honda CBR500R too please.
Thanks, very informative video! Just one thing I wasn't clear on though... what kind of object is this, I mean... is it a strange kind of horse or is it maybe some kind of machine...? 🤔
Omg XD
amazing bike... and nice review.....
This machine passed by a lot of Ferraris this morning
interesting motorcycle. thanks for the effort and the sharing. i sat on a niken at the motorcycle show and it fit very well. i would welcome a test ride if/when yamaha demo days shows up. thumbs up.
With that suspension, I bet it will do great in Ladakh
Machine commute. Nice riding Waheed.
Yamaha seems to be the most forward-thinking when it comes to front ends, with them bringing both the Niken and the GTS-1000 to the market. Wish someone could bring back hub-center steering to the mainstream market, though.
Can we get the 2019 Honda CBR650R has a commute review. Nobody is really talking about it but I feel It's gonna be a great rival to the ninja 650
Awsome bike bike...! Yamaha has done it again big time but can we talk more about the Bentayga parked on the street corner ? Lol or why Adam just didnt follow the Ferrari?? Great review and I definitely need to get in a test ride at my local dealer..
"Learned a lot about this machine, this machine is a fascinating... err .. machine"
good job man
I rode one of these yesterday. Agree with everything he said and would only add how much assurance the front end gives...both actually and psychologically. Check out the turbo version around a racetrack vid ...
I WANT THAT MACHINE!
So sick bike 👏
I really like Adam, but I've noticed that these feel more like an advertisement. I can't pinpoint the issue, and maybe it's just that it feels over-rehearsed. I really love the series and am glad it is continuing, so hopefully you guys can sort out some of these growing pains while you keep producing great content!
Dan R i agree. Nothing against Adam at all, totally competent reviewer and I trust what he’s saying. But Zach had the ability to present the specs in a personal & casual, conversational style? As if you were having a one-on-one chat. Whereas Adam sometimes feels more like just reciting the spec sheet. Specs are good, but that’s more for a specific review - I liked the more-casual approach of Zach’s rides, as that was kinda the point - just a ride to work, and a man’s thoughts. But either way, big shoes to fill, and it’s not a criticism persay :)
Great work on the audio and review you guys! Nicely done and explained Adam Waheed! Also holy shit man, first few seconds you see a Ferrari drive by and then a Bentley SUV at the stop sign right there too? Oh my god, nuts.
Test rode this bike 2 hours ago. It was surprisingly enjoyable. Although I was puzzled why they have the semi rigid saddle bags. I would want something more secure and weather proof. Harder bags.
this machine is a real powerful machine
I have a fever, and my only prescription is more... machine!
Machine, machine ...

It looks and sounds pretty sweet but I'm forever spoiled by the FJR's windscreen and shaft drive. Friends, it's tough to beat lowering the screen for some air in town and raising it when you're back blasting down the road - all with the touch of a button. Hardley Ableson riders won't understand because they only ride far enough to park & pose at the nearest watering hole. =P
"Lips smack ... Machine... Lip smack... Machine ... Machine... Lip smack. Where'd I... Lip smack... Leave my ... Lip smack... Thesaurus? In the machine?"
the smacking is outrageous
Brilliant comment!
What a fucking dumbass of a reviewer. I'd rather he shut the fuck up and let the machine speak for itself.
the guy's marvel name is Machine Man
Adam, great review, but it sounded like you didn't have your morning coffee yet?🙄☕
That Ferrari in 3:34 though!
Yamaha bota pra tora qui moto mano sou Yamaha até o fim é nois🇧🇷🤝
Imagine being at one of those intersections and seeing a guy on a bike waving his hands around lmao
Is the bike easier to balance when stopped at a red light? I have knee issues, so I am curious if the dual front forks might help me with balance. Great review. Thank you.
It's good glass"thus having said that crystals great
Like this Machine.
2 guys resigned, now even the SENIOR editor have to make the videos himself
That thumbnail. This thing looks something straight out of Cyberpunk future.
Good job Adam, you're already doing better than the last video.
So, who's this bike for? No for racing, not for commuting ... So just for touring? I think the two wheels wouldnt be good for long distance riding...?
Why not.?
@@the.communist theres all that extra weight, and touring is mostly straight line riding so the added fronth-end traction from the two wheels isn't needed?
I wonder how it handles if you have a blowout on one of the front tires. I've had flats on the front and rear of my normal bikes over the years and a front flat is definitely more "interesting" (rapid shaking of the handlebars from side to side).
It's not a bike that I would be riding, but I could see how some people who like sport bikes, but are of limited mobility (or limited ability in riding a bike) might like it. I prefer a classic clutch and shift peg though, that that semi-automatic shifting that this bike seems to have. Reminds me too much of when I had to ride scooters overseas (SE Asia) because motorcycles were not available for rent and there were never any parking spaces for cars.
Hey Adam! Guess you being from SoCal you wouldn't see it but from the front it looks like a Yami snow machine! Not complaining but wow! Just noticed after a few views of it. Many thanks!
Thats all I was thinking of.. could it be converted for winter? :-)
I think the audio broke i keep hearing machine
Adam your riding scares me! Stay safe. Good job though man.
same, I was anxious the whole video
Noice! I want one!
someone give this man a pocket dictionary, cool bike tho
Could you review the new two-wheeled unicycle next?
Do you have to put your feet down at a stop? Like the front linkage lock to keep you from falling over?
First stop sign ,Corvette Z06 ,next stop light Ferrari ? Pretty cool . Still some snow around and lots of dirty ,salt coated winter beaters but no sign of the few supercars we have here in eastern Canada .
Don't forget the Bentley bentayga on the left after the Ferrari.
@@jasonhall3693
I missed that completely! I'm much more of a car guy . Cool though 😀
