- The union representing rank-and-file members of the Chicago Fire Department is demanding the city hire more paramedics and add at least 20 ambulances to its fleet to reduce the workload on existing paramedics, which the union said has led to excessive overtime and burnout. They plan to protest at the Democratic National Convention as they fight for a new contract with the city.

People need to know the severity of this issue; the city keeps kicking the can down the road. This administration is completely complacent about public safety.

The union will never allow it to happen, should move more firefighters from fire apparatus to ambulances, since most calls are for medical-aids.
