I just checked, and in my country they already are. For 360 If you're cool with lower power pump, and want copper radiator, custom is already cheaper (and by $17), as copper rad AIOs are fairly expensive. With aluminium rad, I can't quite match the price with truly the cheapest one I found, but was within $9. No reservoir, though, so fill carefully.

The more the cost of cooling equipment the more I'm starting to think outside the box. I have and old radiant heat system that has been disconnected, also have a circulator pump to suit. I'll still need water blocks and mounting kits, so keep up the solid work! I do have a question, what are the approximate design limit pressures of an average water block??? D5 pump curves barely approach 5 psi. Have you tested any water blocks at higher pressures? Do you have any flow/pressure curves for any water-blocks? I intend to use my whole foundation (or at least 1 zone) as a heat sink, no fans needed! Just assuming the water block is the biggest restriction in the loops. I haven't seen anyone test setups for restrictions of flow, though I have seen triple 90's in a row. Immediate 90's pre and post pump discharge with no regard for pump cavitation. Rule of thumb would be 3x pipe diameter straight line prior to pump. It's also a bit surprising that the D5 pump is the goto pump even though pressure restrictions are not known. Usually you know the operating pressure range and THEN you spec the pump. Food for thought! 60 psi sounds like a nice manageable pressure, 5 psi is just a dribble!

4-pin headers are not hard to bus up manually. just make sure the power spec on the fan header can handle the fans. vcc, ground and pwm in parallel, and i like to use the tach signal of the centermost fan in the array (leave the others disconnected). one thing id like to do is order bus strips from a pcb house that can join up multiple fans. like do a fan-length section that you can join with 90 degree headers, with the last header plugging into an extension cable to your mobo. then just clip the fan cable and solder to the strip, attach to the side of the fan with an adhesive.

As a SFF user the Link would be amazing if any RGB product could use it due to its hub size and saving cable space, but of course its proprietary so Its pretty useless for me since I use multiple 5v header products in my small build so there is no way id be able use any corsair products in my build anyway thanks to it only fitting corsair products. if it was open sorce and supported 5V it be such a godsend for cable and space management but having it for just a single waterblock or a couple fans just adds so much clutter.
That and Corsair charge such a premium just to lock you into its ecosystem.

The Link H150i is actually 5 devices: 3 fans, i pump, and the RGP on the block. So, you can only add 2 more devices from the end of the AIO, not 4.

As the fan can ramp up to 3300 rpm, it's easy to find the fan curve for your system. It's just not worth spending more in my opinion.

Just a shout out to you as I have followed you for many years always great videos. On this topic I have found that most of these case fans are so slow and do not perform very well at all. I have been building my own set ups using delta fans that have a much higher static pressure and up to 3600 rpm. Then I add a speed controller that can handle the extra amperage the delta fans need to my rigs. They are fused with heat sinks and are attached directly to the 12 volt rail of the PSU. All can be purchased from amazon and made to look very professional in your build. One exception is the led bling which for me is not as important as the cooling on my open loop systems. I was able to get some used Cisco chassis fan trays with Delta fans for a very reasonable price and they rock keep my hi heat CPU and GPUs 10 to fifteen degrees lower then these types of fans.

Fan performance isn't going to be great, in terms of airflow-to-noise, at least. While lots of people might think that RGB is all about aesthetics, fans designed for RGB have a performance penalty. This is because that RGB ring eats into the space available for fan blades. So while these fans are in a 120mm chassis, from the disassembly it looks like there's about 10mm on each side allocated to the RGB ring + tolerances, compared to about 4mm I've measured as the gap on a Noctua 120mm fan. Might not sound much, but taking into account the fan hub, the Noctua fan blades would have something like 25% more area (assuming a circle can be used to approximate relative fan blade area, fan hub with 35mm diameter).

People who purchase top tier computer products normally don't go to RUclips for buying advice. The market will take care of the price if it's too high. My Lian Li Infinity Mirror 3-packs @ release sure weren't dirt cheap, but if I had a budget issue there are a ton of alternatives.

I think it is an amazing idea, but maybe a bit overdone if the price needs to be that high. I agree though. I went gung-ho since EKWB had clearance items on my current pc, I think I spent around 400 on just the gpu side, since I did that first. If I accounted for just a 240 and 140 for the cpu loop, I would have spent maybe 100 dollars more, and my temps would still be way below their AIO. I was using an EVGA 360 with EK Furious Meltelmi's on it. 9900k at 5.2Ghz would stabilize around 78-82 if I recall right, and that was max fan. With a magnitude block I'm getting 69 max in Aida64 with same overclock. Same ambient temps. It just moves heat so much better with that flow rate, and obviously high performance fans.

I just bought into the eco system and the prices for extra cables where 20 usd but all out of stock finally we get a extension cable for the extension fans and the iCUE LINK Cable 100mm Black is 50 usd … this is crazy

Too expensive for me but I also have to assume that a cable for each fan to connect to a standard 4pin header (as one might need/want to do in the future or just in a different application) is not included which is actually really bad at the price point

I purchased 3 cases of arctic 140 fans 10 years ago when I saw fan prices go above $8 . so the 32 fans were 90$ les than $3 a fan and they are super nice, high pressure for industrial radiator thickness and 2000 rpm. No rgb but you can chain them together with the dual pwm connectors.

Roman, I agree on spending on technical benefiting features like the AlphaCool Metal Framed Fans that lowered the noise thresh-hold and allow you to push the RPM of the fans to higher levels for more AirFlow for the same Noise levels.
But silly superficial stuff like RGB Lighting isn't worth the money IMO.
I'd rather trade all those features for something more beneficial like a "MagLev" hub + Metal Framed Fans + Silicone Vibration dampening O-Rings
Or bring back "Tip Magnetic Drive" and modernize it with Metal Frame Fan + "MagLev" hub + modern Closed Ring Fan designs
There are ALOT of things you can do to make a good fan, things that don't involve "RGB"

That fan connector needs to come in a tight 90 degree or be very flexible. Having two 360 rads in a mid tower case would be difficult with the straight connector sticking out

I wish we could just add a 5th pin to the fan header to carry the WS2812B LED standard. It'd make the fans and headers backwards and forwards compatible (albeit without the stupid lights) and keep it down to 1 cable per fan.

I also think it's really expensive. but I clean my 2 radiators and custom loop every 6 months and the most annoying part is dealing with all the wires of the 9 QL140 fans I have. so I may get these just to cut down on all the wires.

I spent $400CAD in December for an H150 Capellix, 3 ML120, and a Thermalright aRGB fan because I didn't want to have to buy an additional iCue hub.
That was already a bit much, but then again it was my first build in over 10 years, so I splurged.
To update to the new Link stuff, a 360 AIO with 4 additional fans, it would cost me $720CAD with tax...
No way in hell I'm paying those prices.
If I was building now, I would just go with a Noctua air cooler and fans, which is still expensive, but so much cheaper than this.
Or for even cheaper, a Thermalright PA120SE air cooler and aRGB fans for less than $100CAD...

This is an opportunity to explore fans from NMB, Delta, DC-Centaur and many server & workstation fan providers. The PWM control has come a long way that you can simply limit their max rpm by editing the fan curve on Rem0o's fan control (like 80~90% speed below 99°C), the server fans comes with much better dynamic balancing, and sturdier bearings since they are designed to run constantly on 3000rpm or faster, yet sold cheaper than those flashy PC fans, I've heared that some PC fans even comes with obsolete bearing designs
Edit: server fans might be too extreme for average user, look for PWM/4-pin workstation fans, sizes in 12025, 12038, 14025 & 14038

For me, It's DIY and cable manage the situation or buy a pre-made PC if you hate to deal with it or lack the expertise.
The situation can also be simplified to the following: How much do you get paid at work for 30 min? If its more than the difference in price to regular premium fans, it might be worth it. Even so, I'd rather handle a few cables in my PC, as for me it's a passion and I guess the same is true for you, if you are watching this channel.
Thank you for the excellent quality content!

  • @nathanmiddleton1478
    @nathanmiddleton1478 11 месяцев назад

The length of the 6-pin and USB connects seem like they could be longer. It seems like you're going to need to cable manage around to the back and then you're going to have this hugely long cable that doesn't need to exist going to the fans. Or maybe I'm missing something.
Overall, like most people the cost really isn't in-line with the product itself. The link product line is awesome and saves a ton on cable management, if you've used before. But it's not something you see, or should want to point out. It's something you'll quietly impress people with.
Markets everywhere are out of whack though. Prices for the smallest products are sometimes competing for the price of the completed products they are already in. It makes no sense. Not to say that's happening here. Although, you could buy a cheap computer for that price (once again).

Great innovation and I know there were likely high R&D costs, but no chance I’d pay those prices. £30 max for a top end fan and no more than £250 for a 360 aio and I’d be expecting an lcd screen in that price.
I’d guess we’ll see these on sale around Christmas and sadly will be 2nd or 3rd gen before the the price point is acceptable for most :(
