You kind of dropped the ball my friend. There are more kinds of user than video editors and gamers, neither of which should get this device. The SB3 is aimed at aequitecs, engeniers, artists, programmers, photographers, scientists. Anyone that can make use of a touch and pen input. You didn't even mention that it supports pen input and its great for taking notes. I have the SB2 and am a photographer. The form factor is ideal for me to use photoshop without the need for a walkon cintic and to unclip the top to show people photos and to use the top to take notes at meetings. This device is incredibly versatile and while not the most powerful CPU wise, the graphics card make up for it depending on what you do with it.
I bought my SB2 and upgraded to the SB3 because I wanted 32gb ram. I needed a 2 in 1 with great pen support and laptop functionality. The SB3 for me has been the perfect fit. I just wished that I saw more comparisons within it's 2in1 category rather than other laptops.
I own a Surface Book 2 and it is one of the best technology purchases I have ever made. It is sad to see how pricey the new one has gotten without a matte black version. But I still love it so much!
It’s really weird to see reviewers pretend that people who want pen input is a niche market. It’s the reason why the surface pro was made, sells well and why Apple made the Apple pencil despite Steve Jobs opinion on styluses. I remember around the surface pro 3 when that video of artists at Pixar drawing on the iPad Pro ‘leaked’. Some of the people who enjoy styluses might also need some graphic power and decent battery life.
It is a good concept of a device. But that gap when closed and that price discourage me to go after it. For that money i can get a Laptop with the same specs (top of the line) at 2000$ and an iPad Pro for 1000$, with money to spare.
While I think the Surface laptop devices are really neat, I really wish they would add at least one Thunderbolt 3 port and lower the price! I get why the Surface Book 3 may be so expensive, but the Laptop 3 shouldn’t cost more than a base MacBook Pro. I would also love it if they could have made the Book 3 more repairable like the Surface Laptop 3.
Graphenich thanks, but which ones? Až last brand would help me. I need something I can just put on my neck and use it as a mic, cause I use my big speakers to listen
What do you think about the interior design software is like 3ds max , auto CAD in surface book 3 13.5 inch, This software works very smoothly without lag or hang or becoming “not responding”. While doing heavy work on it, Is your perspective about the lifespan of this laptop? , I am a student and I am expecting from this laptop to work for at least four years for my interior design work and a good tablet that will help me to present things in a classy way. Waiting for your reply
i notice a peak everyday zip in your video. Is that the 15 or 20L one? How did the BOok 3 fit in it? I have a SB3 and looking at the Peak EVeryday zip so I am curious.
At this price point you would expect that it would be trouble free, but for many users the keyboard stops communicating with the tablet or the tablet stops recognizing the keyboard. Everything works (key illumination, usb ports, batteries, charging, detach / reattach) but keyboard and touchpad not recognized. You can search this issue on microsoft support forum. There is no solution (since 2018!!!)
I guess to add an option that's not a Mac (which is always a good option), in a 13in size, probably this Surface Book 3 13in. In a 15in form factor, maybe a loaded up Dell XPS 15 or Razer Blade 15.
Well, I have the Samsung 12 Inch Book2 that has windows that run on Arm processors and it seems to work for my daily needs. But I noticed that it runs very slow using Google Chrome, So I now use Microsoft New Edge and it runs really fast, also with many windows open. I have not used any of the Microsoft Surface pros. Just too costly, I'll just use the regular fast laptops instead and save my money.
The Surface Book 3 bums me out. I really want one, but simply cannot justify it. I have always enjoyed Microsoft's vision for the future, whether it be your Windows Phone becoming a desktop computer or a powerful computer that is also a tablet when you want it. My challenge: the Surface Pro is just not powerful enough to be your main computing device if you want to get into video production, development and design. The Surface Book should be the obvious solution, but at its price it is very costly for its spec. Certain configurations make Apple seem like a reasonably priced alternative.
Pretty much it has all I want for a laptop that can be a tablet that can do games and drawing. But yeah sadly it also ask pretty premium for it. But there is nothing else like it on the market though, not counting those flip screen laptops that still bulky to use as a tablet. I have one for a while and still loving it, but it hurts my wallet. For now I'm waiting if SB4 will bring some redesign and still keeping the form-factor.
And please there are two batteries battery 1 and battery 2 and my battery 1 is 3%charged and 2nd one is 70 %charged how am I suppose to charge the first one m confusedn
Personally I have a Surface Book 1 that was a hand me down from my Dads work, truthfully, the GPu almost never works which is a bummer. but from a students standpoint, it has been great. I dont use the tablet ever though.
My company uses several hundred of these for physicians. It's a good device but not great. Clinical use greets you roughly 7 hours of battery. The draw back is tablet mode only gets you 2 hours with the stylus use.
2 hours I wouldn't have guessed that. As a health science student I looked at this but settled for a separate laptop and tablet solution, this saved me £1500. I'm glad I took this route mostly for the cash saving, but also if the note taking feature will only get 2 hours it seems like a big disappointment for those big bucks!
I had the 1st gen, before there were any surface laptop I might add. The software experience back then was janky, but the hardware and the fact that you could insert a SD card really made up for it. After the software was fixed, it was in general a really nice experience, but the whole detachable screen gimick just never found a suitable scenario for itself, even in an office environment. So all in all, beautiful astehetics, pointless main feature. I'd rather have a more powerfull computer for the money than a detachable screen - so now I'm going for surface laptop i guess?
No Thunderbolt. Okay battery life. You cannot open it to clean it. You have no included stand like the normal surface. But it is better for use on your lap. And the upgrades are very expensive. I am not convinced.
Stop crying with the 13" model. You do get the functions and features and options at 15" for what you may need.. Plus you do get deals at the Microsoft Store, not online ordering like Office 365, Pen, sleeve for less. Now the dial too.
Until MS do not have a Surface running in ARM will no be the purposes of what a Surface should be. agile equipment, long time of use, compact and others
holy fu¢k 1600$ I really like the principal and the fact that it can be a tablet but that's price is too much for a med student who is already paying for college maybe when I become a doctor but still there are more cost effective options out there (; ‾ ~‾)
The Windows tablet ecosystem never took off which now makes Surface Book a goofy device that serves a very niche market in 2020. It'd be one thing if the detachable tablet matched the iPad's fluid 120hz display and gave people a reason to consider it for drawing applications but no, it's stuck with a regular 60hz panel.
I changed three Surfacebook 3 already, and now my third one's keyboard just died after troubling for 3 months with auto attach-detach - and its my midterm next week! DO NOT BUY THIS
Please don’t buy any surface products, software has many issues, they update it regularly, whenever new updates comes the system fails in many other hardware things...for me in last update and the keyboard and mouse stopped working...customer service is worst. Doesn’t worth the money we pay to those people!!
Dear Joshua. You're a man who delves deep into cameras and their usage. Could you explain to us, why in 2020 when out mobile phones have such good cameras, our laptops are lagging so far behind in this very simple area? Do we need to start jerry-rigging out laptops with cell phone cameras?
I really like the road Microsoft is traveling. Decent up to good hardware, decent gaming software and services and improving integration with Android. If Google and Microsoft just integrated Android and Windows just a little better you would have an invincible combination.
Its nice.. but i dont understand the reason Microsoft make it.. all there software can be ust online on all low priced units making the price on this one nots..
They make it because the OEMs keep dropping the ball when it comes to building hardware that actually takes advantage of the OS. I'm sure there are more than a few of us who remember those cheap ass plastic netbooks the OEMs kept pumping out even though they were digging a grave for the PC market.

I was thinking like joshua before reading your comment. You make a good point.

I think for 2020/21 its important to mention that this is one of the only (or maybe the only) laptop with a good webcam for meetings for business.

I love the portability, take off the tablet put it on a stand for drawing then back together for typing. At least that's how I imagine using it.

its perfect for drawing comics and doing editing for illustrations it has everything I could ever want in a laptop.
ehhh no thunderbolt 3

@@MyoDest sorry I can't tell you cause I live in India and I use the one plus wireless z but I don't think these are only available in india
Was a big fan of the 1st Gen and wanted the 3rd but I went with an MSI i7 RTX 2060 for more than half the price with better specs and hardware.

better lighting in JV's videos
I have an important question no body mentions how heavy is the tablet portion alone for the "15 sbook.
Does this one get the bulging screen the the surface book 1 and 2?
I do wish they would bring back active cooling on the clipboard section. was a mistake to remove it tbh
Para que ?

The surface line is really just the windows version of a macbook, expensive but not necessarily the best value
