Westindies broke down in 2005, before that too they were useless other than Lara or perhaps Gayle.
NZ won occasionally, England was useless in ODIs crashing out of 2003/07 ODIWC, Pakistan was in Shambles after Waqar, Wasim and Anwar's departure, crashed out of two WCs..
No team could say they will beat Australia as they won three WCs consecutively. Like 30+ matches without losing any. Only South Africa gave them fight occasionally but choked at crucial moments, India played well sometimes but got destroyed in SENA. SL was decent, best in ASIA atleast with individual match winners like Jaisuriya, Sanga, Mahela, Murli etc but they too lost more matches abroad than won.

Australia>> SA= SL= India> NZ= Eng=Pak> West Indies>> Zim= Bang
Actually the opposite is true. In this era, England, NZ, Australia, India, SA, Pakistan, there is very little between the top teams. In the mid 2000s the blackcaps only won on occasion against the big teams.
90s was the best era of cricket, west indies were coming to the end of their long reign then teams like Australia, Sri Lanka and Pakistan emerged with great players along with sth Africa

NZ had the coolest & smartest of Cricketers. They could bat, bowl & were gun fielders & we're equally humble in their attitude.
Chanderpaul & Sarwan were the bedrock of Westindies batting unit. It's sad to see they were badly underappreciated.
New Zealand is the best fielding unit. I love thier planning and process.
Missing Bob Wills commentary
WI had all the elements required in their batting line in 2000s i.e power hitting (Gayle, Hinds, Powell), attack/flair (Lara), stability (Sarwan, Chanderpaul), All rounders(Samuels, Bravo, Smith) but failed to click as a great batting unit barring few series. May be this could also be because of lack of support/motivation from their cricket board or having an inspiring coach.
Yes barring things like 2004 CT and 2006 CT they didn't do justice to their potential
Lack of money it's called. They didn't had issues with contracts etc and lost a golden period and when these folks retired they lost their way

Stefen Fleming was not a good opener in one days because I saw him out on duck in world cup semifinals 2007 whole nz team was playing just outstanding but Fleming break their morale their confidence..they should play nz vs aus infinals
