@@royalboy850 considering how often WI gets bowled out before 50 overs is Shameful. They need a batsman like Hope who can play for a longer time. He's strike rate is 74 and avrrage is 48 that means he plays 64 balls on average every innings. He plays 10 overs of new ball so that the middle & lower order can play the natural hitting game. You can see in this match too the WI team was so close of all out situation despite both the batsman playing 100+ balls. See in every team players have given individual roles. I know you don't have that much brain to understand that's why you wrote such a shameful comment on someone who is doing way better in his field rather than you🤣

Mayers is such a talented offisde stroke player! havent seen such a good stroke player since a long time with the right technique. Its delightful to see him punish deliveries which almost in the right length and right line. Such an elegant player west indies has gotten!

Hard to understand why Blackwood wasn't picked in the last 2 ODIs, he his better that Carty, he could also open.
100 balls 51 is a kind of 1980s innings by Hope on this good batting track which cost the game for WI, he should play at 4.

Yeah but he give support to mayers which brings in result good opening batting like preciously match no one can hold on the crease for long time and if other come in opening batting they mightn't at the crease for a long time and wickets will may continuously fall as a result wi may packup in under 200 runs like previously due to under pressure
@@sahichha this logic doesn't work in 2022. Its a 350-400 run era, if you worry about collapse, you will only get honorable defeats... Hope's innings was very selfish and foremost reason why WI lost.

Hope's test match innings costed them the game. He made no run on balls which he could've hit for 4 or ran a single or even 2. There were some miss fieldings as well, but west indies did well to make 301 despite the slow start. Good knocks from Pooran and Mayers and hopefully they do well for the world cup. Let's hope Narine, Russell, Cottrell, Allen and Lewis will play.

Mayers reminds me of Greenidge, so much power and style, if you missed West Indies cricket batting in the 70s and 80s, this is as close as it gets! I can't even compare Pooran to anyone, maybe Faoud Bacchus, who played a lot of ODI during the glory years and on his day could tear attacks apart. Viv was a master blaster, Pooran power is freakish.

Honestly, if we are going to loose I would prefer it be due to a subpar run rate vs us not being able to bat a full 50 overs due to poor shot selection and inpatient batting. They tried to apply a different strategy but overcorrected.
I wouldn't put the blame soley on hope, by the 25th over a message should have came from the coaching staff.
Also, that was a master class batting performance from pooran! Not just slugging, but good cricket strokes.
Were we one pace bowler short? Someone who can put in a couple dot balls in the deep end??
Not a poor performance all-round, more like poor strategy deployment and that's not just on the 11 in the middle..
Your fielding sucks. Could have saved 20 runs easy that last game. That's how NZ got better. We knew batting and bowling wasn't strong enough compared to most teams. So we raised the standards in the field. Got us many victories with weaker teams

Whenever the WI scores a reasonable innings,they tend to get very relaxed less competitive when the opposing side is batting...every saving of a run and good fielding matters.

Hope's innings cost the WI - no way an international ODI player play that poorly in terms of rotating the strike - his innings took the shine away from Pooran's innings which would have taken them well over 320 if Hope played better cricket

Hope played a good innings. In the previous innings, West Indies top order collapsed. He anchored the innings pretty well which set the platform for pooran to go big.
He is playing for his own fiftes and centeuries. Their was not wicket lost no score board pressure still a test match innings in odi by hope
And a lot of people being saying hes a must pick. But he's no good swing him bat like rovman Powell and Braithwaite
ODI cricket is exciting, why would people say it's in danger? It brings the grit of test cricket and the excitement of a t20 in a single package. It ain't going nowhere.
I disagree that it's anywhere near as exciting as t-20 and it's not as difficult on an individual technical and physical level as test cricket but I will agree it's good for people who like that but don't have the time to closely follow a test match. The reason people think it will go is that as cricket becomes a more marketable sport due to increasing income of young peopl in its audience more and more they need bite sized consumable sports. I doubt anyone will say they don't like good cricket but do they have the time to watch it?
Shari hope is just Madicore type of player. He doesn't rotate strike just face a lot of delivers. Myers and Poorans both are just love 💙
