Had mine for 3 weeks and could not be happier. Similar to the Q5, but dare I say better tech and more comfortable. Better MPG too, but I do have the HEV. I would recommend this car to anyone interested in an SUV.
Hello, I was made to understand it doesn't come with spare wheels, but tyre mobility/inflation kit is provided; please how does that work? Just a bit concerned from having previous flat tyre issues but not on a nice car like this
@@darea.8959 So no spare wheel. We did get a nail in one of our tyres, which the dashboard actually detected and 'told' us. It gave me a good 30 miles to find a repair shop. Not sure how that works but it was a cool feature. Essentially the car measures the PSI of the tyres in real-time and lets you know when it drops. You can pay for an additional wheel of course, and there is space to put it under the false floor of the boot.
@Lee L Thanks a lot, yet to get the car but not sure where to put the spare wheel if I get one, there seems to be some partitioning board under the floorboard and a battery a little further so not quite sure where it'd fit
@@darea.8959 I just look for you, and yeah, there doesn't seem to be enough space. I would say not to worry to much because the wheels seem to be designed in such a way that unless you get an absolute blowout you will be fine. It is a great car, truly, and drives better than my old Q5 - the technology is next level.
Got mine July 5th , PHEV SX white color here in Quebec, Canada This beauty is a GEM , we love it 😊😊😊😊😊 And yes hybrid and plug in hybrid dont have a spare solely repair kit with a little inflater
Great review Dan. I've had the Kia Sportage HEV 4 for a week now and I'm impressed with the comfort, tech and handling. I previously had a Mercedes A200 (2019) but the Kia handles a lot better and is a faster car. Considering this car weighs in at 1.7 tonnes, that's quite impressive. I should also mention the quietness around town and also on motorways. Kia have built quite a good car
Thanks. I have had the Aus. version (GT diesel) since May 2022 - it is as close to the perfect vehicle that can be found. Got rid of my money-pit BMW X6 for the new Sportage, and I am very happy.
Good review, only 2 things wrong. 1) 226bhp HEV don’t have manual option.. 2) Plug-in Hybrid comes with 6 speed auto only same as 226bhp HEV, 7 speed transmission only comes with petrol, diesel and mild hybrid models..
Just bought the Gt s line eV, in green, its amazing, licks the crap out range rover, literally everything is included, if you speced any other car to this level it would cost a fortune, changed my glc premium us for this and its an upgrade
An excellent review (new subscriber). Concise, honest and straight to the point. On the back of listening to several independent reviews (including your very own straightforward and concise review of the GT Line S model), I ordered the GT Line Hybrid. It's all about the delivery time now, which is a few months away, but as they say, good things come to those who wait!
@@ItsDanLatham No problem at all, hence the reason I subscribed to your channel 🙂. A quick question, since you tested it for a long period, how is the MPG on these petrol hybrids? Saving on fuel costs is one of the factors for me. I think the GT Line 1.6 Petrol HEV is enough for me, even though the S model is really nice.
@@ItsDanLatham Wow that's really good. Currently, I have a 2019 1.6L Sportage and only getting 41.5 mpg. Looking forward to the new one as I test driven the S recently and was blown away by the smoothness and less noise from the outside whilst driving compared with the mk4 version. Many thanks for making my decision even more simple.

Great review Dan! I am looking to buy a 2022 model but shame a year later and the second hand price is about same as when it was new! What was the colour of this one you had? Looks like Panta Metal or Grey
Looked at the Sportage and Hyundai Tucson videos you have done. I am interested in both but trying to decide which is better. Your video has helped. I think I'm going to go for the Kia (used), although I prefer the look of the Hyundai Tucson. The interior is where you spend time and that is slightly better to use than the Tucson. Just subscribed too. Thanks for the videos, very helpful.
Thanks for the feedback, my thoughts on it are pretty much the same as yours. The Tucson has just been updated with a new interior, and I’ll have a video coming on that soon - but going for used probably makes the most sense financially. Hope you enjoy your new car!
Im moving from my current tiquan and looking at the self charging Sportage gt line s 2023 . I have been looking for a honest review on you tube and I just found it . I'm placing a order tomorrow
Great vid, thank you. I think the only thing holding me back is the lack of manual transmission in the higher spec models. I really want the 360 degrees camera and cooling seats but I can't get on with automatic at all.
I think it sounds pretty good overall especially when using your phone for music. If you use apple carplay/android auto you’ll be satisfied! The DAB is the issue. Every Kia I have tried, the radio is significantly worse sound quality than other audio sources. No idea why!
Hello, I was made to understand it doesn't come with spare wheels, but tyre mobility/inflation kit is provided; please how does that work? Just a bit concerned from having previous flat tyre issues although not in a nice car like this
Quite common on modern cars, usually it has some stuff with it to patch up the tyre with the compressor until you can replace it, fairly straightforward although never had experience with it myself (yet!)
New subscriber - Awesome vid twinned with in depth commentary have to say I'm really tempted with this. This will be a potential new company car renewal but the EV6 is another band up but, it's still great for me in regards to BIK. The model is the hybrid 4x4 gt line S , all the toys....or all the gear and no go go.... hmmmm Have you done a polestar 2? Merc CLA 250e?
Hi Mark thanks for watching. I’m hoping to get hold of an EV6 soon but this car would be enough to tempt me away from all the German rivals for a daily driver. I’ve never driven a polestar but I have driven a CLA. The merc is a nice thing but I found it to have some electric gremlins when it came to the infotainment etc. Sure, you get a nicer badge and some fancy ambient lighting, but I do think the Kia represents better value for money…. As for pace, this hybrid is surprisingly spritely off the line, its up top where it struggles. But honestly I’d have no hesitation in recommending it. I’m just editing my review of the Cupra Ateca (similar size to this and about £7k more) which is a rapid car but the quality and tech is nowhere near that of the Kia!
If your from the US we don’t badge or name our cars that way - it’s a 2022 model because that’s the years we’re in…..we would never refer to a car as the next years model, if that makes sense. Always been curious as to why they do that in the states.

I test drove one. Drove it sensibly and only achieved just under 40 mpg. Funnily enough it was around the figure shown on the dashboard in this video (38.9mpg for first 20.1mi since refuelling)
I have the HEV 4 Auto 2wd and for the 1,000 miles I’ve done since new I’m averaging 49.5 mpg (UK imperial) this is roughly 60% motorway 40% town & B-roads… for shorter trips around town & B-roads I’m averaging 53-58 mpg. It really is an amazing piece of kit.
This particular one uses the 6spd auto. But yes some have the DCT which would definitely respond a bit quicker. The 6 is nice and smooth but changes are sluggish.
Compared to a modern dual clutch, even good torque converters feel slower in operation. It’s not slow as in 2010 era slow, and it wouldn’t put me off buying.
Question for KIA?: Why are Sportages designed so that the rear lights do NOT come on even when it is dusk / very dull / bad light / storm + rain weather or even almost dark? Every car has it's lights on (front and rear) in these conditions but Sportages NEVER do. It is such as bad design fault
