My story is but one of the many out there of trying to keep one’s center of mass leaning forward in generative world-serving ways. If anyone out there is struggling, just know that you can flip the switch. Dig in and seek support wherever you can. It won’t be perfect. It never is but, you can do it. Meanwhile, you’re all in my prayers.

His video on grief helped me so much after I lost my cat. It might seem silly for some people but losing my cat who I had for 18 hit me like a train, I got nearly no sleep for 3 months, I thought I was going to lose my mind. She was my rock for those 18 years through depression and anxiety, no one or nothing else could compare to the companionship and unconditional love that cat gave me in my deepest time of need.

Got sober, started working out, started a business and now I have many of them at 40. Three things that saved me, spiritual path/fitness, working out consistently, and reading and following people like Andrew over the last 10 years to make myself a better human. I’ve been drinking since I was 11. Started smoking cigarettes around the same time. Started smoking weed at 14. All this time I was taking martial arts and mountain biking and snowboarding. I was also on the football and track team in HS. All the while, drinking and smoking the whole time. Least to say, I was athletic and was happy. Fast forward, found a great job in IT after high school. Thought I found the woman I would die with, have two wonderful kids. Got divorced and that’s when things started crumbling for me. Then my parents passed in a tragic way and my drinking got worse. Now I’ve accepted the fact that I’m an alcoholic with a lot of trauma to deal with. I’m stuck in a hole and trying to climb out before it’s too late. I’ve been working with a chemical dependency dr to help me climb out. Your channel helps a lot brother. Thanks

I highly recommend that you do a couple of things for yourself
first, introspect how much vaping has actually affected you - compare it, if possible like light and day to before you were vaping. Couple the idea of something positive that feels like a developmental, moving moment in your life and you with psychologically prime yourself for thinking differently. But it's not fully complete.
What you want to do next is find something equally as exciting - it may take time, but you can also trick yourself into liking studying. Choose a topic at the most random you can, and go from there by seeing if you like it. Change it up a bit [likely in the same week] and continue with learning techniques, like stimulation deprivation before and after intensive study around your most active brain time. Most of the time, this peak is at 10 AM but can be at other times, time manage so you make time for yourself to study - and continue with abruptly quitting vaping as soon as you start so to ensure that you don't couple your pre-primed mind with the idea of smoking/vaping.
From there, take up other forms of consumption like coffee or dietary change. And your energy coming back will treat you right in that you will begin to have more passion for your work as you continue building upon it.
It may take time, but fame is possible with this - it doesn't, however, prove that adding passion will get you to fame quickly or at all.
But in the spiritual journey - if you believe in it, you will find that regardless of fame - you will appreciate helping people and can possibly turn this into a job.

Well non alcohol sure. that's a very bad habit to get into when getting into creative work: alcohol. If you're looking for a buddy to quit vaping, then we should hook up. I quit cigarettes years ago and then stupidly hit somebody's Vape about 8 months ago and have been super struggling with it ever since. I fucking hate it. It's an absolutely evil sweet tasting hyper effective nicotine delivery device. I've been trying to find somebody who wants to quit to send texts and positive reinforcement back and fourth...... basic accountability, like you would in aa. With a sponsor but in this case both people are struggling and just giving support. If anybody is interested let me know. I quit for 4 days last time and on the 5th day my cells were just screaming at me while I was at work and I backslid. I'm going to beat this thing. Been thinking a lot about some health protocols to put into practice around quitting to make the bodily impacts and Cravings much less. Would be cool to develop a plan with someone and then execute together. All success to anyone else out there who's struggling and has realized they absolutely positively must quit.

00:00 🌿 Andrew Huberman's early years were marked by a strong passion for science and animals, influenced by his physicist father and teacher mother.
01:46 🌪 Huberman's life took a dramatic turn during his teenage years due to his parents' high-conflict divorce, leading him to neglect school and seek solace in skateboarding and punk rock.
02:54 🛹 Finding a community in skateboarding, Huberman was exposed to drugs, alcohol, and lawlessness, drifting away from academic rigor.
04:02 🏫 His truancy led to being placed in a residential treatment program, but this didn't immediately change his behavior or attitude towards education.
05:26 💥 A pivotal altercation in 1994 became a wake-up call for Huberman, leading him to promise his mother he would turn his life around.
07:03 📚 Huberman's turnaround involved intense discipline, leading him to become a straight-A student and reigniting his passion for science.
08:12 🔬 At Berkeley, he worked in a neuroscience lab, which cemented his interest in understanding the mind and led to his decision to pursue a PhD.
10:04 🌍 In 2019, inspired by a friend, Huberman began sharing neuroscience knowledge on social media, eventually finding his voice and expanding his reach.
11:14 🎙 During the 2020 pandemic, Huberman provided science-backed health information to the public, leading to appearances on popular podcasts and the launch of his own podcast, "Huberman Lab."
13:06 📈Huberman's journey from rebellious youth to renowned neuroscientist and popular science communicator illustrates the power of rediscovery and the human spirit's resilience.

Not gonna lie, the first few sound bites sounded so outrageously unlike Huberman that I thought it was some kind of hit job, just spreading unfounded lies to get views on RUclips.
How refreshing to find, by watching to the end, that it's all completely true, and Huberman's story is a true example of resilience and focus on one's goals and just plain ol' hard work!! Bravo, Dr. Huberman 💪🏻🏆!
ETA: given the perspective he has on Dopamine & everything else, I wonder how much that laser-like focus on goals hurt his motivation,as opposed to if he had focused more on enjoying the process?🤔. Perhaps it's easier to avoid demotivation from overly-results-focused thinking when we're still young, as with the high school football player who just runs hills in the summer dozens of times because he's envisioning the State Championship (I just turned 40 and a simple revenue-multiplying goal for my online education business is waning in it's motivation-generating effectiveness 😉!)
The world is SO lucky you went back to school in your 20s rather than your 30s, Doctor 🙏🏻!

I love his expertise in neuroscience, what I don't appreciate is the way he's now being hyped up as a social media pop star, and of course there needs to be a Hollywood-like dramatic biography to sell the story so the audience would be in awe. He could now sell toilet paper and all the lemmings would run, and stock up before the next pandemic, just because Huberman says it's the best toilet paper in the world, scientifically proven. You can call it the Oprah or Dr. Phil effect. He now talks about things he's not an expert on and has limited understanding, giving 5-minute clickbait-drunk advice and tips in RUclips shorts, which makes his brand gain popularity but him lose credibility as an academic. He's certainly not an expert on all things fitness and even less in the self-help department, and what more there is to come. Choose your battles wisely, and don't try to be a jack of all trades, Mr. Huberman ;-)

    • @darseygodwin
      @darseygodwin 10 месяцев назад

I believe the question is: What causes the general public to act like lemmings? Is it the act of putting people on TV, or the mindless propensity to stop thinking critically once someone is on tv?
In my opinion, the lemmings will still be lemmings - but if we can focus their attention on people like Andrew instead of the autotuned rubber faces with ass implants, then the world is that much better yet again.

This is the best biography I've ever seen on RUclips. I was attracted to this because of the impact this guy has had on my own life. I've watched many (all?) of Andrew Huberman's RUclips videos but This adds depth to my perspective. I have a coin from a seminar I attended back in the 70s. On one side it says, "Sure Enough"; On the other, it says, "As I think, I am." Their message is about positive mental attitude. "If you think you can, SURE ENOUGH, you can! The other, "As I think, I am." encourages one to always be persistent... keeping in mind what you want to be, and you will ultimately be that person. Andrew Huberman is a shining example of what can happen when one adopts that philosophy... and anyone can. Thanks for this great piece of work.

I gotta take the things he says with a grain of salt. One time he cited a studying concluding that low carb made no difference outside of calories, so I looked up the study and the protocol they used for low carb was 30% carbs(maybe more) Can you even get into ketosis eating 30% carbs? So how can you draw that conclusion?
I know he’s mainly a neuroscience guy but it just shows me that he’s not always that careful about what he’s saying even when it’s outside of his area of expertise.

Not the government. And that includes scientists when passing along research they were not directly involved in. Everyone has to do their due diligence. He still has a excellent track record and the content itself is beneficial on a wide level to a large amount of people. All it takes is for people to respond to incorrect information with more conclusive data. That’s what helps people do better.
