It is rare to find reactors who are both fluent in Korean and English and do not miss RM's clever wordplay which are often lost in translation. For example, 들꽃 vs 불꽃 and 명예 vs 멍에. I feel like those non-Korean speaking ARMYs are really missing out and getting only snippets of RM's geniosity. I have been in search of these types of RUclipsrs who could build the bridge to the international ARMYs to fully understand how amazing and awesome the lyrics put out by our boys are. Thanks guys, I just found you guys.
The line “I can’t go to the stars again. I can’t” is so heartbreaking to me. Even though they were at the pinnacle of their success, a place where so many yearn to be, it was not a happy time for them/him. The immense pressure of being BTS, him being the leader, and them being looked at as the “Pride of South Korea” is a level of pressure we can’t even fathom. To hear him saying he just can’t go back there because, I’m assuming, it was painful but they had to pretend to be so happy and excited…it’s just sad. We didn’t realize how much they were enduring. I’m so proud of him for speaking his mind throughout Indigo. I pray it was cathartic and therapeutic for him. He deserves everything good in this world. 💜
"no shame I'm on my grave" the simplicity and cleverness of it? so simple. so much. I've lived as much I could. I'm dead. there is no shame, no regret. what happened, happened. it is so so obvious and beautiful as it could be.
This song touched me to a point where I felt bad for RM and all the members of BTS. It made me appreciate them as artists even more. RM always had a way of writing lyrics that touch me to the point where I really start thinking about my own life. Success and fame is not easy and may not be happy. Freedom and the chance to live my life the way I want is the true luxury. It made me be very appreciative of my own life and I want all the members to be happy and soon find their own freedom. I love this song and all the songs in Indigo. But this song is my most treasured one in the album. Thank you guys for discussing this song. Love you both :)
Thanks for this reaction and the translations were really interesting. RM writes in a complex and poetic way, so it helps to have a thoughtful interpretation of his lyrics with fluent speakers. I'm still finding out new things about RM's Indigo album and this song more than a year after the release. I liked the part about how the translated phrase was lying inside the ground, like a death or grave, in order for him to have a rebirth as a wildflower. I agree it's a raw and honest song, and extremely moving. Thanks again for your in depth reaction to his work.
Omg YES!!! my two favs reacting to this just made my day! And wow an hour long? Im here for it🤚Thank you for explaining the lyrics as well, love hearing your interpretations🥲 love you both so much!💗
thank you so much for the lyric analysis!! really needed this to understand the depth of this song. from the get go i knew this song means something important to rm as an artist and as a person. songs like these need to be understood aside from just being enjoyed melodically. great content as always, andya nd jas! love your channel!!
Beyond excellent reaction/breakdown. & as expressed imagine to pressure of the love & expectation of the fanbase has on him as the leader. Close your eyes and remember 14 awkward teen years rapping under ground. That's you. That same person on late teens and early 20s is the same person who is decorated by his president, guest of another country's president and speaks 2x at the UN in front of world leaders. Same person lives in the body of this RM and 14 year old wakes up about to turn 30 to see this face in the mirror or RM to wonder did Kim Namjoon live these years. Where is his life. Who is Kim Namjoon really? And I'm turning 30 with all the pressures of starting a family etc in the culture. Marriage? Children? Military service? But I haven't lived for myself since I was 14. Yo ...... be that kid. That is all 7 and imagine JK? His whole identity and growth as a person was in BTS. Have a hiatus ... take 2.
I had a feeling the translated lyrics from the MV weren’t doing his words justice. I know it’s incredibly difficult to translate because some things just can’t be translated word for word and sometimes there just isn’t an equivalent in English. I really wish I was fluent vs just a level 1 Korean learner. I’m so thankful you did the lyric deep dive for us. This is amazing. Namjoon is a poet and lyrical genius. I hope he’s in a better headspace now that he’s put this album into the world and can see how loved it is. 💜 Thanks for this reaction! 💜
I think we should call RM Namjoon the Poet from now on. I can just see him at the beginning before all this, just wanting to be a writer, to live and breathe art and poetry in peace. Hopefully he gets to that peace. None of us know him truly but he seems to be a simple man who would’ve been content living a simple life. When I think of RM I think minimalism. I’ll continue to view each member as just people, just human like me and you. We only see a fraction of the whole individual when they are in the spotlight , not the full expression of who they actually are.
It makes perfect sense with this opening track “Yun” the legendary Korean artist and activist who said that as a true artist, one must be a human first. Strip everything to the bare bones, and start from there. As always. We rely on you both to translate not only the language, the words, but also the cultural context of the words. Priceless. Thank you so much.
OH MY GOD YES PLEASE THANK YOU FOR THE LYRIC BREAKDOWN!! i would LOVE to hear your reaction and lyric breakdown for the rest of the album, because it's just so full of message and art, i never realized this was an hour long until i finished my papers for uni and i'm still listening to your explanations!! LOTSLOVE
The song makes me emotional, but listening to you guys explaining RM's lyrics made me cry till the end.. Thank you guys, i understand more were RM's emotions might be coming from. it is always worth watching and listening to you. Loveyou Andy and Jas.
It's a song that strikes deep, I know it hit me in the same way. He's lived a life in his 20s that many will never relate to or have the opportunity to experience yet everything he has to say resonates so universally. He's genuinely a very very special person. If I can make one recommendation per your decision on tiny desk (and I know everyone enjoys music in their own way), Namjoon mentioned he hoped fans could listen through the album as is, in order, for the full experience. As a longtime army, it's one of my most memorable full album sit throughs I've ever experienced. I'm sure you're eager to get to tiny desk, I just wanted to offer my experienceThe beginning of the video and when youjeen sings the hook reminds me of RM and Jimin on American Hustle Life watching the fireworks and being in amazement of them. It brings a warm and fuzzy feeling to me. I love this album and it has a really good vibe where you can listen and reflect on your own life or just chill and enjoy the eclectic group of songs on the album. EDIT: . I've been on the verge with this song, and it takes a lot for a song to hit me that way. I love how RM can pull these emotions from us, and i truly believe that he can do that because he is 100% genuine in his music. another masterpiece!! 🥰😭😭😭❤👏👏👏👏KISSS FROM BRAZIL💚💛💙🤍
I really enjoyed your analysis of the lyric on a few levels. Just the explanation 9f those subtle differences in translation from a fluent speaker of Korean and English gives us a richer understanding of what Joon is so beautifully saying. I'm also a like, a kindergarten level 학생 of Korean, and I always appreciate gaining a better understanding of the everyday usage of the language outside the textbook. It really helps me internalize the grammar rules and the way they're bent or broken in speech or songwriting, etc. So thank you! This song is SO heavy. The first few times I watched the video, by the end I just completely broke down. Knowing that this person, who has given so many of us so much, has been in this kind of pain really breaks my heart. I'm all for this break they're taking. This topic of burnout, losing their love for their art and even their identity has really been at the forefront of their writing for a while now. I look at Wld Flower, Hobi's Arson, and Yoongi's Interlude: Shadow as a kind of set. This overwhelming experience of being some of the most famous people on the planet expressed by each of the rapline members. (I might put JK's My Time somewhere adjacent to this category, although his view is unique because he grew up in this rarefied kind of environment. The only thing he's ever known is BTS. His adolescence was NUTS, if you think about it, so his identity struggles are a little different. Black Swan is another.) In Shadow, I see the emblematic part as when Suga says, "I'm afraid, flying high is terrifying No one told me how lonely it is up here I can leap in the air but also plunge" Like RM, he also talks about the Shadow growing into a monster and swallowing him up. Hobi's metaphor is fire, of course. In Arson, he says he started the fire and ran straight into it, until one day he woke up and the whole world had burned down. Arson was fun until the fire got out of control and burned him to ash (burn out! Literally!). Now he has to decide: keep burning, or put the fire out. These guys are so young, but shoulder so much responsibility. Not just as world class entertainers, but as the backbone of a company that brings in a measurable percentage of their country’s GDP AND who are the poster children for the immense soft power SK values them for. If I had been in that position in my 20's, NO WAY I would have been able to handle it with so much grace! It's really no wonder they came to this point, and I think we were lucky that the pressure didn't break them and manifest in a much uglier way. If what they need is to let the BTS monster they (and we) created go, I would be heartbroken, but I would support whatever they decide to do 100%.
YESSSSS, i been waiting for your guys's reaction. I love your guys's interpretations and reactions. I already appreciate this song but, thank you for explaining songs in great depths, to points that many can appreciate even stronger!
OMG! I couldn't wait for your guys reaction! You're one of few reactors that can really only interprete the lyrics of these KPOP songs beyond the interpretation of the english subtitle. & also love your animated reactions 💜💜
Heck yes!!! I have been waiting for this - especially thankful for the breakdown of the lyrics. I find it so interesting because of the subtle differences to the English subtitles and Korean sayings or puns that I would have no idea about. So thanks so much guys!!! I love this song - and honestly it makes me tear up everytime I listen to it.
Side note, he said in an interview that he wanted to be fall/land like a flower beautifully/slowly unlike a firework that ends quickly/suddenly. Same with what Suga have said before in wanting to land instead of falling.
I really appreciate your lyric breakdowns. It really helps for people like me that don't understand the Korean language. You know his fans - ARMY's - will be here waiting for him, and we are supporting him fully, and at the same time, he is gaining new fans by sharing himself and his art with the world. It's beautiful. 💜
fireworks are considered short lived , sparks of joy, bright, beautiful but temporary it's a sad notion to life itself but embracing that light and carrying it on until you exist in a field of it , now, that's where life itself is worth living.
LOVE this lyric breakdown! You are so good at explaining the Korean cultural intricacies Andy. The personal insights both of you have are spot-on and relatable. I hope to be able to speak Korean as smoothly as you two one day 💜
Woooowwwwww. I've watched so many reactions and explanations and also had my own interpretation about this song, but hearing you two talk about it really put things into a different perception. This song is so meaningful. I'm still discovering it again and again after it's been out for some time. RM really is something else.
Set to be a cult classic the album Indigo can be listened to on repeat. He has mixed genre with a cool vibe and surprises us with the beautiful lyrics and mature artists he has chosen to collab with, selected for very different individual qualities. In the tradition of BTS he breaks barriers and expectations to create music that will continue to live on my permanent play list.
god i love how you explained the lyrics and took your time translating them for us and theorizing things which i didn't think about for over an hour, im even more in love with this song than i was before great job guys, i really feel more connected to the song right now, thank you for this experience
You know this is the reason people love BTS they have so many fans ( Army ) their songs are relatable and when a person relate to a song they connect they get comfort they think someone is out their who knows the feeling WHEN I SEE PEOPLE SAYING BTS IS OVERRATED I FEEL NO THEY ARE NOT THEY ARE BTS - BULLETPROOF BOYS THEY ARE SHIELD OF THEIR FANS THEIR ARMY , they always put feelings to their work and that's what makes them legend and their hardwork is the reason why they paved the way ( This is coming from an Engenes I was casual listener before and BTS was the group who introduced K-POP and the reason I love K-POP is because most of songs either pop or r&b or any genre in K-culture it's kind of songs which I love and I love relatable music you know)
It was really nice to hear your reaction. I have only been Army for a bit over a year and I had the same conclusion that you guys talked about. This has definitely been a burden of sorts on an epic perportion! I feel like this really got started when they first went to the AMA's, I remember a clip of jhope saying while they were in the limo ride to the event, that he could feel the start of things happening! And I'm sure it was a lot of things that added up over time. He being the beautiful soul that he is just kept everything to himself and dealt the hands that came to him! I have so much respect for that man. After hearing this song and he with youjeen's powerhouse vocals, he was able to burst out and break those chains that were weighing him down. I felt my insides were going to burst and I just wanted to give him the biggest hug afterwards! I know it's a burden for him to be in this much limelight when all he ever wanted to do was make good music!! 🙏Rm💜💜💜💜💜💜
thank you for making me understand wildflower lyrics more. I love this song so much the first time I heard it and now I can appreciate it even better. thank you!
omg i really love how you take time to explain the lyrics & react to the videos u guys r one of the very few reactors who try to understand the lyrics & appreciating it & tqsm for the reacting & hope u guys also react to Jin & Jk solo's "The Astronaut" & "Dreamers" & the whole "Indigo" album
Being a leader to an idol group means you are go between the company and your members and vice verse so you can't really fully side with one and go against the other. His role as leader is lonely.
I’m so happy y’all decided to react to this. Really needed lyrics explanation from the best, your hard work is appreciated 💜 When it comes to namjoons writing, I know that it’s more than just a RUclipss subtitles. Would love if you could react to certain tracks from indigo 💙💙💙
Thank you for all the effort you guys put out for your true-honest opinion of the artist work. Like I love your translation and input! It makes more of a bigger image than the captions I have to read! Def appreciate this and love Namjoon’s album!
WOW! Thank you so much for taking the time to dissect the lyrics going into the hangul language, history, culture, etc. It really helps international fans understand the intentions of the songs better. I am better able to connect to this song now. Thank you
Yayyy you guys are finally here. I genuinely wait for your guys' explanation and interpretations, especially for such deep songs. Thankyou for all the time and effort you put into it
This amazing breakdown really makes the song "lonely" hit so much harder .... Thankyou for explaining these lyrics, so much is lost when translated to English .. Thank you xxx
I am greatful for this video, for the depth yous reveal in the lyrics, thank you so much for helping me better understand what RM is conveying in his song it makes his song much more impactful every time I hear it. I pray that what ever each of the members are going through that they all find their conclusion soon.
A few nights ago I was listening to your reaction, the song is already emotional but the lyric breakdown was making me cry so much. Lol cried myself to sleep to be honest. 🥲
I’ve been busy and it took me this long to get to this reaction, but I’m glad I watched it. You guys are the best. Thanks for helping us, non-Korean speaker, to understand this masterpiece better.
Thanks for taking so much time treating this piece of art with the grace it deserves in diving in so deep. I have a question about 소원했었네 in 21:21. I feel like I caught a wordplay but maybe it is just the crazy thoughts of a desperate Korean learner. Could the 소원 (所願) wish/hope also be interpreted as this hanja 소원 (疎遠) distant/estranged? So expressing that you wish for something but at the same it the feeling of becoming distant/alienated from what you wish for... Would be interesting to hear if any of that would make sense to a native speaker or if I am just going crazy 😵💫 가사 분석에 고생해 주셔서 감사합니다
I am so glad that I found your video, very insightful. RM is such a deep thinker and to understand his song/message requires a lot of deep dive. I am already hooked w Wild Flower. The raw emotion and transparency make me want to cheer for him even more. Namjoon said that Wild Flower is so precious to him and that is why it is the album title track. Listening to it and watching his interviews make me realised how much more struggles he have been facing - been a center of the storm, navigating success with so many people readily welcome your fall and at the same time trying your hardest to be true to yourself. For me wild flower is that heart wrenching song where RM pour his confession/struggles into a song. Also, RM specifically said he want youjee powerful voice to signify the intensity of his feeling. I am glad that at the end he decided to be a wildflower, that continue to bloom freely for a long time. Let’s stream indigo and show him we are here with him. 💙
in one of his interviews he said he purposefully wrote "flowerwork" because he feels its an insult to bts to be referred to as 'fireworks" because as he said, fireworks explode and then disappear and he doesnt want that to be said of bts
38:53 i wonder if he meant inside the field like a firework before it shoots up into the sky... aren't they planted into the earth? fireworks are planted to fly up and explode but wildflowers are planted to bloom
Thank you for this. I always respected and liked you a lot, I feel like you're both very sensitive and genuine. We're all guilty of assuming things, putting people in the boxes... and the older you get, the more cynical you are... you loose purpose, innocence, faith.. you start to question your choices and the meaning of things that used to be important to you. World is so fast now... we're so well connected but in the end we loose connection with each other and with ourselves. A lot of thoughts in my head.... thank you RM ♥️
Wow! My first time to encounter your channel and I'm so happy because finally I got to know the accurate translations of RM' song lyrics. RM is my bias too and it hurts me a lot when people judge him and say negative things for no reason. You guys are amazing ang honest. Thank you and hope to see more reactions on RM's Indigo Album. I'm now your new subscriber.😀
I kept checking youtube to see if yall were going to put up a reaction to this and so glad yall did!!!! Thank you both for providing insight into this beautiful song!
Omg I was looking forward to this reaction. I wanted to get a better understanding of the lyrics. I understand even more what he has been feeling for so long. I literally get emotional when I hear this song. The album has been on repeat
Was waiting for you guys to upload a reaction for this music video and getting an hour long video, yaaas, it deserves it. The love for this song T___T Thanks so much for sharing such lovely deep, intuitive thoughts and for interpreting the Korean lyrics
this song is so beautiful it's full of emotion i cried a lot listening to this 🤧💜 loved the vocals just perfect RM delivered everything in this song i'm so proud of my leader 💜💙💙💙💙💙💙
I truly wish you a Lovely Night. You deserve it. You finished your album. It's time to rest. Breathe. You can now ride your bicycle without carrying the weight of your fame on your shoulders. You can now hike your favorite mountains up to your heavenly clouds and float. Float in nature upon your Wild Flowers. You looked the most calmest there. Return to that moment in time. And most importantly you can turn your flower...a noun...back to just a noun. No more verbs...no more flowers working..flowerwork. So go back there. No more being a human doing. Now you can be a human being. You have arrived. You beat your flame and fame and made it to this moment...... You can now be your most beautiful Wild Flower roaming the tops of every nature filled and fresh breathing aired mountain. And drink richly the cool cool water from the refreshing waterfalls. Now it's time to sleep. Enjoy your Lovely Night. I do so wish it for you.
First time watching your channel. You both are so sincere and I really enjoyed your interpretation / analysis. I love your take on the whole song, video and poetic words. The symbolism in this music video is amazing. I subscribed to your channel now. You two are adorable and so interesting. Oh, I really love your hair style. Super cute.
Thank you guys so much doing these lyric deep dives, I always love learning more about the stories behind songs & the translations aren’t always the best when it comes to kpop songs so having you guys do in depth is so amazing! Love how much you both appreciate the lyrics too. 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
Thank you so much for you guys' effort to break it down for us! There's always those subtle nuances and emotions that can't be translated directly into English and this was so helpful. Namjoon is a genius. Love this song even more now. He gave a great interview about this song snd the whole Indigo album with Zach Sang, should be on here on youtube as well. Hope you guys get to watch it and listen to the other songs on Indigo!

@@itsandyandjas Please react to RM's new song 'Still Life' ft Anderson Paak which dropped today, it's awesome💜 💜 🔥🔥
thank you so much for the lyric analysis!! really needed this to understand the depth of this song. from the get go i knew this song means something important to rm as an artist and as a person. songs like these need to be understood aside from just being enjoyed melodically.

8:23 did namjoon really find a way to connect all of his songs together lyrically😅 this man is a poet and artist! nobody is doing it like him.

Thank you for watching and listening 🥰 much love!
OMG! I couldn't wait for your guys reaction! You're one of few reactors that can really only interprete the lyrics of these KPOP songs beyond the interpretation of the english subtitle. & also love your animated reactions 💜💜
Aw thank you🥹🙏❤️
fireworks are considered short lived , sparks of joy, bright, beautiful but temporary
it's a sad notion to life itself
but embracing that light and carrying it on until you exist in a field of it
, now, that's where life itself is worth living.
Getting my coffee, snacks and headphones ready for this
I'm locked in
Lets goooooo
The fireworks are NOT CGI. They are real. He insisted they be in this production. They are Stunningly Exquisite! As he is!
LOVE this lyric breakdown! You are so good at explaining the Korean cultural intricacies Andy. The personal insights both of you have are spot-on and relatable. I hope to be able to speak Korean as smoothly as you two one day 💜
Thank you for reacting, im so grateful that you guys do the lyrics explanation ❤
Your explanation about Wildflower is amazing ❤
god i love how you explained the lyrics and took your time translating them for us and theorizing things which i didn't think about for over an hour, im even more in love with this song than i was before
great job guys, i really feel more connected to the song right now, thank you for this experience
tq so much for recognize RM❤️❤️
Thankyou for reacting Namjoonie Wildflower💜💜💜
A minute into this reading comments and preparing myself but I’m already crying.
Im really waiting for this 🥹❤️
Ty for waiting 🥰🙏
i love when korean who can speak english break down of lyrics from bts songs. thanks guys 💜
Wooow I lovee how you break it down it gives a moree meaning to me more deeper than ever
You know this is the reason people love BTS they have so many fans ( Army ) their songs are relatable and when a person relate to a song they connect they get comfort they think someone is out their who knows the feeling WHEN I SEE PEOPLE SAYING BTS IS OVERRATED I FEEL NO THEY ARE NOT THEY ARE BTS - BULLETPROOF BOYS THEY ARE SHIELD OF THEIR FANS THEIR ARMY , they always put feelings to their work and that's what makes them legend and their hardwork is the reason why they paved the way
( This is coming from an Engenes I was casual listener before and BTS was the group who introduced K-POP and the reason I love K-POP is because most of songs either pop or r&b or any genre in K-culture it's kind of songs which I love and I love relatable music you know)
It was really nice to hear your reaction. 🙏Rm💜💜💜💜💜💜
Thanks so much🥺Am so into the explanation that I started wondering how strong he is and the rest of the boys♥️
OMG thank you thank you for translating and explaining RMs deep lyrics!!! You both are so awesome! 💜💜💜
I appreciate this breakdown and analysis so much. Thank you.
thank you for making me understand wildflower lyrics more.
His role as leader is lonely.
love this breakdown!
This was beautiful. Thank you for breaking it down. I feel the honesty even more ❤
I’m so happy y’all decided to react to this.

Thank you for reacting to this!
Thanks for helping us, non-Korean speaker, to understand this masterpiece better.
you guys awesome!!! love the excited and explaination.. thanks guys 💜
Thank you 🙏 you guys are amazing 💜
RM is
such a deep thinker and to understand his song/message requires a lot of deep dive.
Thank you for reacted to RM - Wild Flower MV..🙏💜
Yes
Thank you guys so much for explaining in so much details. I really appreciated.

I love your channel. You guys are really smart
Thank you for this awesome explanation!! You guys rock! 🫶
The BEST 💜

Hope you guys get to watch it and listen to the other songs on Indigo!
his live he said how he was so conflicted. he was depressed and he felt shame to fell like that knowing how successful he is.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR DOING THIS!!! 💜💜💜
Thank you so much for your reaction and the lyrics analysis. My first time watching you guys and you just gained a subscriber 👍
