I still have my Corrupted Ashbringer. It used to be so fun to pretend to power level lowbies in Scarlet Monastery only for the whole place to bow to me and leave all the lowbies confused. I hope I created some unique memories for some unsuspecting people. I used to always forget to unequip while flying into Light's Hope Chapel and the whole town would attack and kill me every time.
I haven't tried after Legion, but since Cata had changed Light's Hope Chapel, when I would equip the sword I wouldn't get attacked, but the blacksmith would be attackable. Of course I had to see if I killed him what would happen. Once I hit him, then the whole town starts attacking me. The problem is that they keep bouncing you up in the air nonstop, so it was hard to get away haha. I guess I need to check and see what happens now.
This makes me happy and sad. I've been playing wow since day 1, hell I even have the orc stature blizzard gave to people who been playing since day 1. This made me happy cause I have some of the items the hunter bow and staff but not the ammo bag. I also have Quel'sar on my warrior. Just seeing this video made me think about getting the items and the funny stories that go along with it. The sadness comes from thinking about all the friends that have come and gone and the joy I use to get out of raiding. You've spent just as much time with your raiding guild as you did your family. How I miss those times.
Before the change, Rhok'delar and Lok'delar used to be the SAME weapon. In other words, when you clicked it, it became a bow or the staff. I know this, because I was the first hunter on my server with these items. I still have them to this day in my bank and use the transmog. :) (I also have Murky).

Fun fact, corrupted ashbringer is in Diablo III now as a two handed legendary sword. It has a chance to spawn a skeleton when killing an enemy, then when you've spawned ten skeletons they explode and corrupted ashbringer becomes ashbringer, dealing an extra amount of holy damage for a limited time, it also turns from the green colored weapon to red and gold and the floating skull in the blade also changes to a red and gold thing as well. Really neat weapon and a nice little nod to WoW.
These videos make me remember the good old time Vanilla and BC WoW were the best games I have ever played and probably will ever play when it comes to experience, because the older I get the less I seem to enjoy games
I remember in early WotLK when I started, my friend was running my Paladin through DM when Foror's Compendium dropped, I remember him freaking out and I was just really confused. We got a few friends together to run Onyxia's Lair and I managed to get the original Quel'Serrar, which is still on my (Sadly unused) Paladin to this day. It was a really cool quest though, putting the sword in the ground and having to make her breathe on it, remains one of my fond memories.
I can't stop watching these vids. I played tbc 2 weeks before wrath was launched so i consider myself a wrath baby but all the old content that more veteran players had to go threw seems fun and down right worth remembering to share. Fascinating
Haunted Momento was also a throw-able item which is why the quantity isn't as high as it should be. People thought of it as one of those garbage items.
God I remember back in Vanilla trying for what probably would've been 3 months to get Quel Serrar on my warrior. I did so many DM North runs that me and my guildies had that place down to a science. Everyday for that period I would log in, grab all the shit I needed for the ogre suit on the auction house and then spam runs to try and get the god damn book. We could clear a chest run in a little over a half an hour by the time we gave up; which was pretty impressive for anyone not in serious raid gear in Vanilla. It never dropped and to this day it gets me angry thinking about it. I got literally every drop in DM North's loot table BUT the book. Hell, I even got that super rare epic axe Treant's Bane and still never got the book. It was kind've cool in that I was the only warrior on the server for a long time with it, but I would've given my left nut for that book. I even farmed up 1k gold buuuut... I ended up buying a mount. I agonized over the decision for so long. I was terrible at making money in Vanilla so I had to decide between my epic mount or Quel'Serrar and I ended up opting for the mount.
oh my god, the hunter quest, i remember doing that. You could also help other Hunters do the quest, and when killing the guy in Sillithus, the easiest way was to Duel a Warlock, where he put the curse on you so you couldn't be feared. :P
I am surprised no one ever mentioned Linken's Sword of Mastery in these lists. I still have mine to this day and now use it as a mog sword when I can. Most people don't even seem to know. Too bad it isn't a really unique model though.

Still got a few Haunted Mementos on me :) Too bad the ghost doesn't chase you 24/7 anymore (dunno why they had to change that??) but it's still neat. Got some other very rare and valuable items aswell like Thug Shirt and Pattern : Star Belt and many others!

Thanks for another nice video! Without having any numbers, I would say the Lurky pet is even more rare than the Murky pet. There was a small screw-up on Blizzard's end with the activation of the TBC collector's edition in Europe. You had to send a letter (not e-mail!), along with some TCG cards included in the CE box (which we never got back...), to their HQ in Paris in order to get it activated. If you went through the trouble you were rewarded Lurky as a bonus compensation.
5:28 you can still get that bow/staff skin, it might not be the exact bow, it drops from heroic mode in the sethekk halls or something. One of the BC dungeons.
Gnomish Turban of Psychic Might, and The Scepter of the Shifting Sands. They were a quest reward during the legendary AQ quest chain. Apart from the level 60 ZG turban, which was also removed, it's the only red turban in the game. I have both on my mage and have yet to see anyone else with either.
My wife and I both have Murky. Definitely a head turner especially when he procs his dance. My priest also has Benediction but my favorite unobtainable is the Blessed vestments set from pre-Wrath launch when undead spawned all over the place. The 4 piece armor sets dropped like candy and were kinda useless but looked cool. When t-mog came out, I still had it in my bank. I love being a rogue in a leather dress.
I wish that they hadn't changed some of the original raids, like old naxx, zul'gurub, and zul'aman. I wish they had kept them as they were and just added a revamped version of each one alongside the original content. That way, people could still go back and experience the old versions, as well as the newer ones.
Black Temple is going to be a time walking raid, but as far as i know its going to be the only one for now, whether we will see a time walking Naxx, ZA, ZG or Onyxia raid is not known.

the jackhammer didnt give you the fastest 2h speed possible. the manual crowd pummeler from vanilla gnomergan had a 2 second swing timer on a 2h mace with an on use effect to increase attack speed by 50%. i remember using this as a paladin wit hthe old seal of t he crusader(which also increased attack speed) and i got my 2h swing time down to under .5 seconds. quel'serrar was also a pretty subpar tank weapon. at the time, finkles skinner from UBRS was better because it had an incredibly fast swing timer leading to much higher threat and rage generation.

Believe it or not, I actually kept the Robe that you use to disguise yourself as a Twilight Cultist back in Cataclysm Pre-Launch Event, it looks similar to the ones you pick off the cultists in Silithis, but the sleeves are different. Another item I have that is sellable is the Spider Silk Robe, it used to drop from spiders in Tirisfal Glades but with Cataclysm changes, it was removed and holds value to anyone who has it. (It can't be transmogged but it's still an amazing find.)
I always had a thing for Rivendares Deathcharger, so in early TBC when it was possible to solo him, I eventually got it. It was still challenging to solo the instance, with all the kiting needed, even at 70. Was a Frostmage. The fight with the Baron himself was basically a dps race, and a little bit of luck involved with how many Shadowbolts he decided to throw at you. At the time it was the rarest item in the game, by far, with the drop chance being around 1/5000, at least according to Thottbot (which was essentially WoWhead). I was rocking it all up until that one patch, where the drop rate was changed to 1/100 instead, and literally over night, hundreds of people had it. Went from being the only one on a high pop server, to just one among many. I think it was the patch that introduced achievments, and the pre WotlK event, but not sure. I dont have an exact number of how many runs I did, but several hundred for sure. I also have many characters with the haunted memento, didn't know it was worth that much, I dont really play the game anymore.
Only lost naxx stuff in wrath and onyxia stuff late in wrath. Cata was pretty much when wow 2 started and everything tied to the old game was changed for the worse
You want rare items, well there are 2, the blue version of the 2 mounts of the brewfest event(ram and kodo on the opposite faction). They were only obtainable on the very first appearance of the event, and then stopped being sold. If you have them, you can still buy more, as your "hand" is permanently marked from the quest item to get them, but that's it.
My Vanilla guild's tank had Quel'serrar FOREVER. Tons of MC farming and he only ever got one Thunderfury binding. He used it all the way through BWL if i recall.
LOL, I started playing when the Lich King came out. I had several people swimming around the ocean in Silvermoon, and Stormwind looking for the sword of Athena.
I ran MC for the entire pre-AQ vanilla, and frequently after. I had every part I could get for Rhok... And saw the leaf /once/, and a priest got it. My true ‘one that got away’ item.
Ancient Sinew Wrapped Lamina has turned into a max slot bag at the time when they cancelled ammo. 22slot I think. Still have it. As well as the bow and staff. I also had Haunted Memento, but gave it to my friend as a birthday gift during MoP. Fun fact about Haunted Memento, when it was released you could throw it at other players like a ball. For some time I had no idea why is the ghost following me, until I found that item in my inventory.
I would love to re-visit the original ZG again. I farmed that place and it was nice, until they removed it.. Such a shame there's so many removed items. Even if they would be trivial to get now, getting it during the expansion itself is already a feat (like the Challenge Trials now). They keep removing Lore - and content associated with it . Even though I'm not a Lore fanatic I still like the stories and how immersive the game is.
"Linken Sword of Mastery" that you got from a secret quest in Ungoro Crater was one of my favoriter. You eventuellt got Linken Bomerang that i used on my warrior =)
You did not need both eyes to see the ghost for the Priest staff, just the eye of divinity. I completed the quest before getting my Eye of shadow and made the staff on the spot while still farming in Winterspring.

I remember getting my first warglaive on my DK back in cataclysm after 100 tries, i freaked out because I always dreamed about having it as a collectors item.
Lok and Rhok and Quel'Ser are a part of my tmog =). Also, Haunted Momento no longer "haunts" you, its a random proc when it decides to follow you for 10 or so seconds.... not that desirable anymore. Sold mine for 100k.
Quest about the druid epic shape thing...it was only possible until a patch in bc i guess. the druids who finished it were able to call a boss in an instance with the crowmount thing.
I was in the process of doing the druid fast flying quest... and they removed the quest as I was about halfway through. And I still have the moonstone.
I haven't played in years now but having ashbringer makes me want to start again sometimes. Might of menethil is also super rare from og naxx but it doesn't have the same lore. Possibly more rare.
I remember a hunter rolled need on compendium of dragon slaying when I was tanking on my warrior and won it to sell on AH. Imo personally If there's a Boe that someone in the group is going to use or equip they should get it.
I was wondering if you would mention the Hakarri blades. You recognized a rogue with them from a mile away becuase they sat in the back. Wish i could get these again.
Should discuss the Vanilla Collector's edition pets. I never see them mentioned in rare vids and at this point, gotta believe they are pretty rare. My Mini Diablo always turns heads.
i dont know if you can still get it, or not. But when mist of pandaria came out. I found a BOA weapon inside one of the missions. I dont know the name, but it was the one with the witch at her house, surrounded by pandaians who had been turned to stone. In side one of the statues i noticed it was shimmering, so i clicked it and found an account bound sword, labled as a BOA
I didn't know the Haunted Momento was sought after when I got back to WoW in mid 2018. They weren't on AH so I didn't know how to price it and ended up putting it on AH for 5,000 gold. Within 15 seconds of it being listed, it sold. At that point I realized I made a mistake 😂
They took away Haunted Memento's ability to be thrown to other players because people used it in PvP to lock down the location of rogues in stealth. At one point these fetched a hefty sum of WoW gold. Fortunately I really liked this item and still keep it in my inventory.
That feel when I had Defias Armor and Scarlet Armor transmogs and they re implemented that so I can't be a special snowflake anymore, but they don't reintroduce the Corrupted Ashbringer (I don't play pally, I'd want it on my Death Knight if anything), Benediction or Rhok'delar...
you forgot to mention all the zone drops from original naxxramas,they were lost too after the revamp,alot of these appearances were completely unique and were never reused,for an example the tanky robe from zone trash "Necro-Knights Garb" or the staff from Kel'thuzad "Soulseeker" (there is a few reasons why you could factor in the rarity of these appearances,the people that didn't vendor them,and the requirement for getting a group motivated to kill Kel'thuzad for gear that didn't really have much value after few seasons into TBC). basically these items never really had a chance to be recognized as valueble transmog until it was too late,and the people who do have them today are the envy of everyone around them,perhaps someday blizzard will realize and make a timewalker raid of Original Naxxramas,and let the serious transmog hunters have another chance at some of this sick loot.
RNG suffix items such as dark iron ring, charged gear, etc may be decent suggestions (along with RNG uldaman gear & what not) some of these items have 0.1% DR

This guy told me he saw two Corrupted Ashbringers in a day once... turns out he had been in a pug group with my DK earlier that morning. I think I only know a couple other people who have one. I definitely kick myself for all the "useless" items I have vendored over the years.

loved tbc, used to account sell. the pro scene is very kind and people will log in and say "shithead ;)" despite farming gladiator with a 2 day guarentee (the 2 dayt thing clinched it, for every day extra was 500 off. (3000usd) as a certain warrior i watched a few months earlier and idolized ... idk but i played rogue and noticed how badass his reaction and multitask (and how undrrrated his shaman was. slow murder while getting silenced , stunned slowly... overall concept in my combo but the dismantleing and small stuns/comp aggression, and how cool and underrated gclol is . talkin about HOODRYCH. idk if he still plaayts. Icyst, shadow priest . if ur here hit me up man!!! idk i found someone from back then who i used to own tthe 39 scene on. we had a very exclusive guild with a bad name and would cherrypick certain people who couldnt xfer due to the alliance/ horde ... and twinkles.. this dude made a maxxed out spec 39 warlock with fucking 400 herbalism. two lives. he also was quite good at rogue but he was competetive and i focused on one class and speed levelling techniques.
About the memento : My friend got an updated menento when shadowland prepatch hit , there was a scourge invasion event and it actually dropped for him ! For the longest time we didnt knew why the fuck a shadow kept spawning close to him and juste assume it was cause of his spec (Shadow priest) and now i know cause of your video
speaking of Zul'Gurub...how about Arlokk's Claws from the original Zul'Gurub. the fist weapons that when you had both, the proc was you turned into the tiger god. I can honestly say i've never seen a set on anyone. my original hunter has them from when i was doing Zul'Gurub for fun to get the Zulian Tiger mount. there's the new version of them but theres no tiger god proc on them.
Haunted memento is from scourge invasion from wotlk not from scourge invasion for original naxx.

Black Temple is going to be a time walking raid, but as far as i know its going to be the only one for now, whether we will see a time walking Naxx, ZA, ZG or Onyxia raid is not known.
i still have corrupted ashbringer and quel'sarrar. didnt know they were so rare. im a casual player lol! got both during the tbc and i predicted myself that blizzard would make something regarding vanilla weapon skins or armor lol! now im walking on quel'thalas with 2 awesome weapon transmogs.
I had 3 haunted moments, gave one to a friend, still have 2 in the bank C: I also have the rare mail undeadslayer transmog from the event.
Very nice video! I only have the Rhok'delar longbow with the staff and the bag, I got them at level 80 though so I never understood how difficult was to get them back then :)
the jackhammer didnt give you the fastest 2h speed possible. the manual crowd pummeler from vanilla gnomergan had a 2 second swing timer on a 2h mace with an on use effect to increase attack speed by 50%. i remember using this as a paladin wit hthe old seal of t he crusader(which also increased attack speed) and i got my 2h swing time down to under .5 seconds.
quel'serrar was also a pretty subpar tank weapon. at the time, finkles skinner from UBRS was better because it had an incredibly fast swing timer leading to much higher threat and rage generation.

I still own my original Quel'serrar from vanilla , good times , i was so happy the day i finally got it , grinded living essences like crazy to be able to buy the book on the auction house .
I am a little sad that the Staff off of goh'Zrankah form ZG didn't make it to the list. the staff you needed to use a very large fish to summon the optional boss. I had it as a stat stick on my warrior when I played arms for giggles for the crit , damage, and HP
Believe it or not, I actually kept the Robe that you use to disguise yourself as a Twilight Cultist back in Cataclysm Pre-Launch Event, it looks similar to the ones you pick off the cultists in Silithis, but the sleeves are different. Another item I have that is sellable is the Spider Silk Robe, it used to drop from spiders in Tirisfal Glades but with Cataclysm changes, it was removed and holds value to anyone who has it. (It can't be transmogged but it's still an amazing find.)
I always had a thing for Rivendares Deathcharger, so in early TBC when it was possible to solo him, I eventually got it. It was still challenging to solo the instance, with all the kiting needed, even at 70. Was a Frostmage. The fight with the Baron himself was basically a dps race, and a little bit of luck involved with how many Shadowbolts he decided to throw at you. At the time it was the rarest item in the game, by far, with the drop chance being around 1/5000, at least according to Thottbot (which was essentially WoWhead). I was rocking it all up until that one patch, where the drop rate was changed to 1/100 instead, and literally over night, hundreds of people had it. Went from being the only one on a high pop server, to just one among many. I think it was the patch that introduced achievments, and the pre WotlK event, but not sure. I dont have an exact number of how many runs I did, but several hundred for sure. I also have many characters with the haunted memento, didn't know it was worth that much, I dont really play the game anymore.

Only lost naxx stuff in wrath and onyxia stuff late in wrath. Cata was pretty much when wow 2 started and everything tied to the old game was changed for the worse

Liked it a lot, and I'm still hanging on to my Hakkari Warblades on my old hunter. You should do one on removed/retired mounts.
You want rare items, well there are 2, the blue version of the 2 mounts of the brewfest event(ram and kodo on the opposite faction). They were only obtainable on the very first appearance of the event, and then stopped being sold. If you have them, you can still buy more, as your "hand" is permanently marked from the quest item to get them, but that's it.
My Vanilla guild's tank had Quel'serrar FOREVER. Tons of MC farming and he only ever got one Thunderfury binding. He used it all the way through BWL if i recall.

I ran MC for the entire pre-AQ vanilla, and frequently after. I had every part I could get for Rhok... And saw the leaf /once/, and a priest got it. My true ‘one that got away’ item.
Ancient Sinew Wrapped Lamina has turned into a max slot bag at the time when they cancelled ammo. 22slot I think. Still have it. As well as the bow and staff. I also had Haunted Memento, but gave it to my friend as a birthday gift during MoP. Fun fact about Haunted Memento, when it was released you could throw it at other players like a ball. For some time I had no idea why is the ghost following me, until I found that item in my inventory.
I would love to re-visit the original ZG again.

Such a shame there's so many removed items. Even if they would be trivial to get now, getting it during the expansion itself is already a feat (like the Challenge Trials now). They keep removing Lore - and content associated with it . Even though I'm not a Lore fanatic I still like the stories and how immersive the game is.
"Linken Sword of Mastery" that you got from a secret quest in Ungoro Crater was one of my favoriter. You eventuellt got Linken Bomerang that i used on my warrior =)

You did not need both eyes to see the ghost for the Priest staff, just the eye of divinity. I completed the quest before getting my Eye of shadow and made the staff on the spot while still farming in Winterspring.
I want a Haunted Momento so bad... It looks so cool! :( I have seen it before though, but i didn't know what it was. These random ghosts floating aroung.

Lok and Rhok and Quel'Ser are a part of my tmog =). Also, Haunted Momento no longer "haunts" you, its a random proc when it decides to follow you for 10 or so seconds.... not that desirable anymore. Sold mine for 100k.

Quest about the druid epic shape thing...it was only possible until a patch in bc i guess. the druids who finished it were able to call a boss in an instance with the crowmount thing.

I was in the process of doing the druid fast flying quest... and they removed the quest as I was about halfway through. And I still have the moonstone.
acutally got the eye of shadow off a random demon in winterspring, got about 500,000 gold for it back in WoD
I haven't played in years now but having ashbringer makes me want to start again sometimes. Might of menethil is also super rare from og naxx but it doesn't have the same lore. Possibly more rare.

I remember a hunter rolled need on compendium of dragon slaying when I was tanking on my warrior and won it to sell on AH. Imo personally If there's a Boe that someone in the group is going to use or equip they should get it.

Should discuss the Vanilla Collector's edition pets. I never see them mentioned in rare vids and at this point, gotta believe they are pretty rare. My Mini Diablo always turns heads.

i dont know if you can still get it, or not. But when mist of pandaria came out. I found a BOA weapon inside one of the missions. I dont know the name, but it was the one with the witch at her house, surrounded by pandaians who had been turned to stone. In side one of the statues i noticed it was shimmering, so i clicked it and found an account bound sword, labled as a BOA
I didn't know the Haunted Momento was sought after when I got back to WoW in mid 2018. They weren't on AH so I didn't know how to price it and ended up putting it on AH for 5,000 gold. Within 15 seconds of it being listed, it sold.
At that point I realized I made a mistake 😂
I hate that naxx 60 was removed when wrath came out, extremely frustrating, especially since it had one of the coolest tier sets, CA, and Atiest.
The offhand of the hakkari warblade is not from Hakkar, but from Mandokir.
I still hate how they ruined the Haunted Memento. I wish it was always persistent rather than occasional.
They took away Haunted Memento's ability to be thrown to other players because people used it in PvP to lock down the location of rogues in stealth. At one point these fetched a hefty sum of WoW gold. Fortunately I really liked this item and still keep it in my inventory.

That feel when I had Defias Armor and Scarlet Armor transmogs and they re implemented that so I can't be a special snowflake anymore, but they don't reintroduce the Corrupted Ashbringer (I don't play pally, I'd want it on my Death Knight if anything), Benediction or Rhok'delar...

started playing around WotLK, there were quite a few people i remember with the memento
I saw someone walking around with the Haunted Memento shade in MoP. I had no idea how you could get it until now.
you forgot to mention all the zone drops from original naxxramas,they were lost too after the revamp,alot of these appearances were completely unique and were never reused,for an example the tanky robe from zone trash "Necro-Knights Garb" or the staff from Kel'thuzad "Soulseeker" (there is a few reasons why you could factor in the rarity of these appearances,the people that didn't vendor them,and the requirement for getting a group motivated to kill Kel'thuzad for gear that didn't really have much value after few seasons into TBC). basically these items never really had a chance to be recognized as valueble transmog until it was too late,and the people who do have them today are the envy of everyone around them,perhaps someday blizzard will realize and make a timewalker raid of Original Naxxramas,and let the serious transmog hunters have another chance at some of this sick loot.
RNG suffix items such as dark iron ring, charged gear, etc may be decent suggestions (along with RNG uldaman gear & what not) some of these items have 0.1% DR
Got the hunter weapons, priest staff and original Quel'Serrar on old chars, kept hoarding anything that took slightest effort to get until bank was full.
Still have wet dreams about corrupted ashbringer though..

This guy told me he saw two Corrupted Ashbringers in a day once... turns out he had been in a pug group with my DK earlier that morning. I think I only know a couple other people who have one.
I definitely kick myself for all the "useless" items I have vendored over the years.
That is the only item i have ever wanted for transmog for my DK. Guess I will never obtain it unless it gets to Black Market.
One thing I don’t understand is why they removed so many old quests in cata, especially the weapon quests since xmog was first introduced in cata.

I miss my kil'jaeden staff from wow vanilla, it was around .01% drop chance at the time, and I remember it dropping from one of the lions in stranglethorn
loved tbc, used to account sell. the pro scene is very kind and people will log in and say "shithead ;)" despite farming gladiator with a 2 day guarentee (the 2 dayt thing clinched it, for every day extra was 500 off. (3000usd)
as a certain warrior i watched a few months earlier and idolized ... idk but i played rogue and noticed how badass his reaction and multitask (and how undrrrated his shaman was. slow murder while getting silenced , stunned slowly... overall concept in my combo but the dismantleing and small stuns/comp aggression, and how cool and underrated gclol is . talkin about HOODRYCH. idk if he still plaayts.
Icyst, shadow priest . if ur here hit me up man!!! idk i found someone from back then who i used to own tthe 39 scene on. we had a very exclusive guild with a bad name and would cherrypick certain people who couldnt xfer due to the alliance/ horde ... and twinkles.. this dude made a maxxed out spec 39 warlock with fucking 400 herbalism. two lives. he also was quite good at rogue but he was competetive and i focused on one class and speed levelling techniques.
About the memento : My friend got an updated menento when shadowland prepatch hit , there was a scourge invasion event and it actually dropped for him ! For the longest time we didnt knew why the fuck a shadow kept spawning close to him and juste assume it was cause of his spec (Shadow priest) and now i know cause of your video
ive come across one warrior who had the full warrior t3 set (which you can obtain via BMAH) and the Corrupted Ashbringer
Now days, the Hunted Memento item is disappointing, as the shade doesn't constantly follow you, it spawns randomly for about 15-20 seconds at a time.
speaking of Zul'Gurub...how about Arlokk's Claws from the original Zul'Gurub. the fist weapons that when you had both, the proc was you turned into the tiger god. I can honestly say i've never seen a set on anyone. my original hunter has them from when i was doing Zul'Gurub for fun to get the Zulian Tiger mount. there's the new version of them but theres no tiger god proc on them.
