Neal, you've always been my favorite comic book/fantasy artist. Absolutely love the work you've done in comics & Conan magazines. I'm saving some shekels to buy some of your original art because to me, it's worth the investment.
Far and away 1 of THE GREATEST ARTISTS -PERIOD! He along with writer Denny O'Neil, onfluenced-save one of the greatest fictional characters ever created Rest In Power!!
I've never in my life seen someone get that much line variation out of a PITT brush. I've had a few of the things and they've been useless in my hands, inferior to Zebra IMO. Yet here is Neal making that thing his BITCH. I need to practice more.
Have been carefully drawn only this book signing, I saw for the first time. And it looks very sharp strokes. Also good was instantly followed by the finger of a moment "Bibitta" line the base of the neck of the cloak. Finally, we became concerned about disruption to dimensional worlds from the brush. This Comment is English... :p and Neal Adams is Very Cool!!!
oh wait, nevermind, i thought you were referring to earlier in the clip. the technique he's using makes a sort of drybrush effect, creates a kind of flagging on the line that adds some character
he's probably getting rid of some eraser shavings or excess graphite on the page. that could ruin a line he's laying down by interrupting the stroke or causing a smear.
Great artist, but not very fan friendly. He will not sign Comics. Only his overpriced art books he sells at his table. Artists with this many restrictions should realize, it was DC or Marvel that helped them get noticed in a field that struggled daily, instead of pissing in the faces of fans who just want a memorable experience with someone they’ve admired. Every artist should be as kind and as approachable as George Perez.
One of the greats. Rest In Peace Neal Adams.
I love how he takes his time doing it. Turned out great!
Oh MAN is he a master. Every line he puts down in this is just perfect.
Masterful. Beautiful work from Neal...
Still the greatest comic book artist IMO. I grew up wanting to draw superheroes like him.
The way he draws I think he was like a professional artist, RIP Neal Adams.
super sonico :0 ...we both know neal stop being a jerk :,(
Just amazing to watch a master at work.
One of my favorite artist
Excellent drawing tutorial right there.
I don't think he was struggling as much as he was being careful. Clearly he wanted the drawing to look refined and clean.

Neal Adams art is like a Eternal relic that for ever will shine brighter than the word legend!
It is a German-made Faber-Castell brush tip PITT pen.
Toward the end, on the cape, he's thinking: " I better stop before I fug it up sum more."
Amazing
What a great job
Neal-you were strugglin' with that brush man
NEAL ADAMS WAS THE GREATEST!!
3:20 That stroke!
It was smooth, the curve of it obeyed his will lol
oh wait, nevermind, i thought you were referring to earlier in the clip. the technique he's using makes a sort of drybrush effect, creates a kind of flagging on the line that adds some character
R.I.P.
Does anyone know what kind of marker he is using?
I wish I could draw like this.
Imagine if he had today's art tech, just the undo button alone 😵💫
Sure beats the 30 second sketches you get these days. 🐱
Great vid
@riusu23
I believe that's a Pentel pen
So this is Frank Miller's mentor during the 70s..hmmm?
he's probably getting rid of some eraser shavings or excess graphite on the page. that could ruin a line he's laying down by interrupting the stroke or causing a smear.
Bom desenha muito
That's just a Faber-Castle Felt tip you can get at any craft store
😎
Yeah, nothing special... the man's interpretation of Batman has only been informing the look of the character for 40 years.
Informing??
More like DEFINING! He actually invented his whole look and physique
Cacilda! Isso que é autógrafo, hein?
he sure can use a brush pen :)
How much does he charge for sketches?
TheBatmanNerd Not enough
Is that a copic marker?
Depending on size and detail... $200-$1500
there's something about that chin...
ok (:
