Ive got mine done up to where you are here in part 1. Then pretty weather hit so im out if the shop till bad weather. Man i cant wait to finish mine. Funny i put mine on caster wheels also.

Please Please Please tell me how you have a Metal cutting blade on Abrasive chop saw? Did you slow the Chop saw down to 1800 RPM some how or did you find a blade that works with the higher 4500 rpm Abrasive chop saw? I Really dont wanna spend the coin on a Cold cut saw if i can mod a cheaper saw or spend a lil for a good blade
hey sorry for the late responds, I’m actually spinning that blade way to fast! it cuts great when it’s sharp, however gets dull very quickly. I’m sure it’s a lot to due with how fast I’m spinning it

Thx, JD's Garage just did an update video on buying material for this build, If you haven't I suggest checking it out. Like you I'm also in Canada, the bulk of my bolts came from Peavey Mart (they sell them in bulk by weight) smaller specialty bolts came from Home Depot, being in Canada you will most likely find the specialty bolts with a Robertson style head vs a Allen or Philips head which JD's used
@@jonny4182 not sure which hole your asking about, I generally use a hole saw for larger holes, hope to you the plasma table in the future for larger holes
How much longer did you go with the legs? I figured I'd aim at 36" upper table height so plenty of room on lower shelf for cutter, control box, comsumables, etc. Thats prob 10" longer on legs, plus wheel height. Thanks for showing us the build !!!
The hight of my machine is 31” from the floor to the top of the water tray, the legs are 25.25” not including the hight of the casters I used. Legs a casters combined 31”
Nice job thanks for sharing. I'm just about to start building the same table. My plan was to extensd the legs and add wheels as well. While looking over the plans I was wondering why the legs are bolted and not welded. Do you feel that it's sturdy with it being bolted? Is there any reason not to weld it?
thanks! the original reason the JD’s guys kept the legs short and bolted was so they could fold up the legs and store it under a bench. It is very sturdy bolted together, however the JD’s guys said themselves they would just weld it together if they were to do it again.
I started ordering parts. Haven't ordered the steel or bolts yet so I am not sure where that cost will end up. I believe I am around $700 with plans, 3D print and the major components. I had SWAG'ed about $1000. Curious to hear where you ended up (or anyone else building it). I will be using a Yeswelder Cut-65DS.
I bought most of the stuff to build mine close to a year ago and finally just got it done (life gets busy) I really didn’t keep track of what I spent? Well under $1000 not including the cutter it self
@@roadboogalabuilds5318 You did well then. I did buy the z axis upgrade and upgraded the bearings a bit (mostly for water and debris sealing). That was probably $75 extra. Everything else was purchased off the parts list. My cutter was $300. looks like I will have to do some frugal steel shopping/snooping.

Curious what your table ended up costing? And where did you buy your bolts? Trying to cost out the hardware ( not including tubing), and it’s adding up.
Ah Ok, Thanks For the quick response I have bought the plans and watched your video and some others, I have bought a 3d printer to a, learn about cad modelling act and b the import tax into the UK at the moment is huge and it was cheaper to buy the printer than to purchase them made. Thanks for the video I would be interested to know if you have any issues due to having all steel parts for the arm with sagging? I was considering using a duplicate baring mount on the opposite side in case of this@@roadboogalabuilds5318

Yes I did find all the parts on Amazon, some did come from Amazon.com not ca. I didn’t keep track of what I spent? I had most of the parts for about 9 months before I started on it, the biggest expense was the dang steel!
I've seen a lot of people happy with JD garages plans so I bought them but it's just not going to work for me I need something I can print out and have in front of me Do you have any idea of someone else that makes plans to build a CNC plasma machine?
@BruceMcKeever ya I found the JD garage plans great and they worked well for me. I was able to print them out and have them in front of me that’s how I put it together. Sorry you’re having difficulty’s with that? I’m sure there are other plans out there? I not sure who else to recommend

Hello : I just bought the JD plans yesterday . I am reviewing the information and it appears very complete and straight forward. Like you, i think the legs need to be longer, they need the additional lower bracing, and i like the caster addition as well. I have a few questions maybe you can answer for me. First do you think there would be any problem using thicker wall tubing ( 2×2 ) ? The only piece I think may be adversly affected by might be the unsupported x axis arm . The reason is i am having difficulty trying to locate .065 wall tubing and i CAN get 14 ga. Pretty reasonably. Second, did you consider lengthening the table ? Assuming you have completed it, have you found the standard length to be adequate ? Lastly, have you produced a second video on the construction of the table ? BTW i really enjoyed your straight forward, easy going approach to the presentation. So I just found the 2 successive segments so ignore that part of this. How long did you make the legs ? I used the size and thickness in the plans (just to keep with the plans) not sure where your located? this tubing was special order where I live and did cost me extra. Realistically other then the x and y axis OD you could build the table out of what ever you wanted. If your using the bearing blocks in the plans the OD of the x and y would have to stay the same. I personally wouldn't use a thicker wall tubing for the x for the reason of weight and possible sag at the end of the x axis. Maybe 1.5" aluminum tubing could be used for the x axis? not sure how well the aluminum would hold up to the bearing running on it?
I personally didn't consider building this table larger simple due to I don't need it to be larger nor do I have the room for a larger table. I know this is a question the JD's garage guys get a lot. I see no reason you couldn't lengthen the y axis as long as you want (with in reason, you wouldn't want sag in the middle of your y axis) As for the x I wouldn't go any longer unless you designed a way to support the other side. I did see another person who built the same table come up with a fairly simple solution to this, I'm unable to find the link at this time if I come across it in the future I will send it to you

Love the project and attention to detail. Really dislike the music that's 25% louder than the spoken words. Volume down, volume up, down, up, down. It's as bad a commercials on TV, sorry...
@@roadboogalabuilds5318 it's easy to be critical, much harder to do! I'm totally cool with the music, just try to volume level across all the tracks and it'll be a huge improvement. 👍🏻
Love the idea of making the legs a bit longer with a shelf and adding wheels. My garage is even smaller than yours, so rolling is a must. 😎

if you use some double sided tape you can set your spacer washers in place and pull the tape out once you have your bearing and pin installed

5/16 I just cut the heads and threads off some longer bolts, you could also use some 5/16 round stock and cut to length @@agguilarmetalwork4494
for those "annoying" shims that love to fly around and generally not do what you want them to, just apply a little grease to keep them in place.

Hi : Yes he compete builds is on my channel there is even a play list from it starting with a road trip to JD's garage to pick up the plans in person
