I downloaded Candle 1.2.15b_x64 from Github for starters, there was an older version on the flash drive that came with my machine and was part of the problem. After that I needed to learn how to turn images into gCode so I found something easy and free in this video here from Mr Innovative: ruclips.net/video/bbe56S_O-uI/видео.html those instructions work out well but if you use the latest version on Inkscape you have to go a different route to get the program to export the gCode but it does still work and as I mentioned I plan to do a short video on that when I have some free time. So with the latest version of Candle and my gCode made from Inkscape, I took my laptop out to the shop, hooked it to the machine, connected it, made sure the drivers installed properly which they did and the default settings worked perfectly. I used the first part of this video here from FoxAlien: ruclips.net/video/3CxX6W2Vp10/видео.html to setup for my first run. I didn't use Easel as I already had my gCode from Inkscape. But as you can see, he doesn't use the Z-probe but takes a 3D-Printer approach to setting up the Z-axis which is what got my head right on this because it basically functions exactly like a 3D printer in how it moves and such. Hopefully that helps get you in the right direction, I am off work these next couple of days kind of ( new job and have training to do at home ) so I will try to piece something together because I do have a project I want to spotlight using the CNC and Inkscape so it would be the perfect chance to do a quick tutorial on this.
Hello just retired from the military and got a Veror CnC machine. I make Rustic Flags with Coin racks and now I want to start marking some plague for the Military. Maybe you can help me and point me into the right direction on getting this CNC up and running.
@@joequinata9901 I can try, let me get some sleep and I will go out in the shop in the morning and see what I can record to help you and others get up and running as quickly as possible and without the headaches I had.
Awesome and thanks for the sub, my CNC died last week or so but Vevor has sent a new one to me that will be here tomorrow so I'll be getting right back into the swing of things with the CNC... so many ideas and plans I want to use it for lol. I can use a scroll saw just fine but damn, why bother when the CNC can do all the work.
@@theidlehandsworkshop3884 Sorry to hear your CNC died, but good to hear Vevor is sending a replacement. I finished the Y-Axis shields and now the belts, roller, and pulleys are protected from dust and particles. Maybe I should upload the STLs for others to print.
@@Rogerquin I'm sure it would be appreciated by many people !!! I'm looking to move my black box well away from the machine or under the cart it's on to protect it from dust and stuff. Still confuses me what happened to it but it just quit working. Once the new one gets here I'll also be considering whether or not to merge the two frames together for one super CNC lol.
For us computer illerate people, Can you do a video start to finish on choosing and uploading a file to the software to have engraved on your project? I just had my same router set up but have no idea how to start a project
i am sorry if this is a dumb question . i will be recieving my s4040 in a few days graduating from a 3018 . what feed and speed and depth per pass i use mostly pine and oak and with the 3018 its .1mm depth per pass 300mm feed and 150mm plunge any insight would be awesome as a starting point thank you
I use those same settings for the S4040, I haven't really changed anything at all in regards to the settings, haven't gotten that brave yet lol. I am hoping this coming year to get some different species of wood and experiment, right now it's mostly just stuff I can get at Home Depot which is Poplar, Cedar, Oak, Pine, and of course our native tree... Plywood :P
It goes through plywood just fine, in my shorts is a piece I cut out with this machine over the weekend. That was 1/4" and I've cut some other things out of 1/2" with no problems either.
What program did you use to run the CNC the on that came with it or another as you mentioned you were going to use you PC. Thanks in advance.

You got a new sub. I'm finally setting up my VEVOR S4040 and printing some shields for the Y-Axis. Looking forward to your next video.

That's not a bad idea... I'm sort of a nerdy type so 3D printers and now CNC are right up my alley. I'll see what I can put together for ya'll :)
