Funnily enough, it means it has higher stock FPS, but obviously once you mod, a smaller tube is a negative. At least it seems old parts and new mod parts can be fitted. I can't remember off the top of my head, but chances are you need to trim some support bits to get one of the old LS, or new mod tubes to fit. I'm fairly new to the hobby, and looking at getting an LS, tbh I'm just gonna get one of the Zombie Strike ones.
I only know them as Adventure Force Waffles because unlike you, we don't have target in Canada and we can only get dart zone products through Walmart's Adventure Force Line
The issue I recall having with my stock longshot is with elite darts specifically - the shorter dart post in the elite darts compared to the original streamline darts causes the friction of the head to buckle down against the dart tooth in the longshot and causes them to jam against the inside of the barrel. Should be pretty evident if that is the issue though, as it usually damages the darts.
This issue happens with original streamlines as well and exactly as you described. I have some used and never-been-opened streamlines and they all jam just as much as Dart Zone waffleheads and official elites. There is far too much friction on the dart tooth (if that's the name for the little door that helps push darts into the breech and slides down when ready to fire), so darts end up bent in the barrel until they spring back into place. You can actually hear the dart when it springs back. I confirmed this by putting on safety goggles and staring down the barrel while priming the blaster. Everything works normally until the dart tooth slides down and takes the head of the dart with it. It doesn't always happen, but it happens enough to make this blaster effectively unusable unless you baby it and wait for the darts to stop bending. My Deploy never jams no matter how quickly I fire it and it seems like its dart tooth is a little shorter. Maybe that's the culprit. I might end up cutting the Longshot's tooth a tiny bit or do something to it so the darts have enough space to settle without getting jammed up. I'm going to compare it to an older Longshot first to see if I can get it to jam in the same way and perhaps compare the mechanics.

After further testing, old streamlines never get shaved or shredded in my Longshot. Anything post-Elite (Nerf, Dart Zone, etc) gets shaved sometimes, even the included elite darts. Somewhere around 5% of anything I put through my Longshot gets damaged. This happens with the ICON LS and older ones too, so it might be something inherent to the Longshot design. A quick fix for your jamming Recon, Longshot, or anything else like this is to put some chapstick or other sticky lubricant on the dart tooth. It instantly fixed the issue for me, but it starts coming back after around 100 darts as the chapstick gets worn off. It's not a permanent solution, but might be enough for some light battles or target shooting.
I know right. The best primary on the market is a fortnite prop blaster, (Infantry Rifle) the best sidearm is a jolt, and nerf made elite 2.0 but didn’t improve on the worst part...the darts.
Unfortunately nerf's times will never be over because the mom's who they prey on probably won't do research for birthday or Christmas presents. We can hope that dart zone continues the massive growth and at least overtakes nerf, though.
its sad too, because just 1 or 2 years ago i got a tri strike and it only jams with bad damaged darts nowadays, and the triggers a bit messed up, but it works pretty good. now the new longshot cant do a full mag without jamming

This was not meant to be a modernized version, it was a nostalgia trip and for those who never saw it to see how far they have come. This design is super old and it honestly acts the same, for this gun you needed a Rhythm to get it to work properly, removing the front gave you actual velocity (something which is the only thing that might have improved with that long barrel i remember some darts just plopping out of the front), and had a weak second blaster. The only reason to get this one was because you either never had one and want to see what its like or you got rid of the one you had. That is the "Icon" series in a nutshell anything which actually stayed good would just get used over and over again (Volt, Maverick, most of the single shot blasters) till it got replaced by something better which it would see over and over again.
This is a shame, Hasbro used to be really good, heaps better than barbieland, er, mattel, but now, they are at the same level of mediocrity, at least, Hasbro has Transformers, but accept it, lego is going for better now.

I’m fairly certain that the blaster jamming is a common problem, though I was lucky enough to have one that doesn’t jam near as often. If you do try to use it again, though, try to be a little slower/calmer when you prime it.

Wow, I have an original Longshot and, the front gun never worked on mine. It wouldn't prime. I thought it was a legit gimmick. But, thr rifle itself , with stock parts, has bruised friends of mine from how strong it is. I will say over time it lost some of its, out of the box firepower. But it feels super good to use, racking a dart into the chamber is an awesome feeling. I've always thought this was a really fun nerf gun. FYI, mine is the old blue and orange one that came with two magazines.
The reason the longshot jams so much is because there is a bolt lock inside. If you take out the bolt lock, it will be a lot smoother and not seize up. I have one and had the same problem.
I've come across some Adventure Force blasters that were restored to normal function by simply lubing the plunger assembly. Upon teardown and inspection, I found that it hasn't been lubed properly/sufficiently. I think you're right about the one you were test firing. It sounded like it was 'leaking' internally.

I remember getting the original Longshot for xmas one year. Got me into the hobby. Wonderfully fun blaster.

Great review Coop! Question: I remember you said that they changed the mold of the magazine well in the Zombie Strike and “Elite” Longshots. Does the icon series Longshot use the original mold/design for the mag well, or does it use that of the more recent rereleases?
Its the exact same model as the og Longshot so it probably have those molds for the mag well
my n strike elite long shot still jams to this day with regular nerf darts but seems to work perfectly fine with accustrike and waffle darts
I remember using the front gun but not the actual long shot for some reason. I think I got it from my cousin. Man I wish I could go back to simpler times

Yeah, same bro. I got a long shot from a garage sale (2006 model too, hurt me) and accidentally broke it. Went to Goodwill after and picked one up. On topic though, it is much more reliable, even with elites.
@@longstech you guys do know that only his is defective, right? He didn't purchase two of them to confirm it was only that one blaster. Also there's a review by American Foam of this blaster and his works perfectly.

Wow, I have an original Longshot and, the front gun never worked on mine. It wouldn't prime. I thought it was a legit gimmick. But, thr rifle itself , with stock parts, has bruised friends of mine from how strong it is. I will say over time it lost some of its, out of the box firepower. But it feels super good to use, racking a dart into the chamber is an awesome feeling. I've always thought this was a really fun nerf gun. FYI, mine is the old blue and orange one that came with two magazines.
I've had the same original longshot since it came out. It's always worked no jams since like 2006. You got a lemon.

The reason the longshot jams so much is because there is a bolt lock inside. If you take out the bolt lock, it will be a lot smoother and not seize up. I have one and had the same problem.

I've come across some Adventure Force blasters that were restored to normal function by simply lubing the plunger assembly. Upon teardown and inspection, I found that it hasn't been lubed properly/sufficiently. I think you're right about the one you were test firing. It sounded like it was 'leaking' internally.
