Thank you to all the young people commenting! It always breaks my heart when I see little kids glued to their phones in public places, like restaurants or even on sidewalks. Some parents use technology as a baby sitter, but unlike a loving and compassionate baby sitter, phone won’t teach a child any of these emotional values properly. That was the motivation behind this video! Please remember to support this channel and subscribe. Much appreciated!

I’m a late Gen Z, pushing Zalpha and alpha (September 2008). Unlike most of the older Gen Z’s I was born into the internet and had an iPad since I was a toddler just like Gen Alpha so I’m basically an iPad kid (Gen A in all but name). I also have a sister who’s a full Gen Alpha. So I feel qualified to say that: Gen Alpha is NOT doomed.
Ya’ll are seriously overreacting about this generation. Have you noticed that every single generation thus far has been criticized by older people just as they were rising?
In the 1960s, Boomers were criticized as “overly naive hippies” who would destroy the world with their radical ideas. In the 1980s/90s, Gen X was criticized for being uncultured, unruly and overall “slackers”. In the 2000s/2010s, Millennials were criticized for being “Lazy and entitled” and too reliant on the internet. In late 2010s/early 2020s, Gen Z was criticized for being “chronically online, stupid and disgusting” and was told they wouldn’t have a future. Now in 2024, Gen Alpha (who hasn’t even gotten on its feet yet) is being criticized for being glued to their IPads and overall brain dead and are being told, once again, that they have no future. Have you noticed something else, all of these generations were fine in the end.
Stop. Bullying. Gen Alpha. Let’s be the ones that end the inter generational bullying that’s gone on for so long.

    I'm gen Z.
As a young child my parents let me use the ipad to play children games (cooking, fashion etc) and learning apps.
But I also read a LOT of books, played outside, pretended to be a doctor or a poor princess who got kicked out of the kingdom and left to starve, doodled, and other fun activities.
    I-pads aren't the main problem.
They can be a good way to learn and have fun under good management.
The problem is what you do with it and whether you do other things or not.

When I grew up, having internet in the household was a luxury. Surfing was paid for by the minute, and kids could not surf more than 2 hours a week without the phone bill going through the roof. We rang each other's doors, played ding dong ditch, and made snowmen in the winter. Our entertainment was listening to the radio, play Nintendo NES and swimming in the forest.

Early gen Alpha here (2011). These parents are absolutely TERRIBLE at parenting for letting their kids have an iPad, EVEN before the age of 3. That is just mental to think about. To be fair, I also used technology at a very young age, but it was heavily monitored so this outcome wouldn't have happened. I've also decided to have RUclips as my only social media and to not watch short-form content, which really has paid off. Gen Alpha kids aren't really messed up in the country I live in though, which is just because they have GOOD PARENTING. Thanks for reading this rant though, have a great day :)

I'm Gen Z (1998). I used to play outside with the other kids at a playground and enjoy a lot of fun activities in school. My parents bought toys at Toys R Us, I played mostly with dolls and stuffed animals, play at the indoor playground at Burger King and McDonald's, they also gave us toys as well, play with board games and some puzzles, read books, coloring books, and played with the cat and dog. I began using the Internet since 2007. Since then, I have spent many hours a day online on my computer. I've always been told that you have to go out and meet people. I'm 26 now, and need less electronic devices, avoid screen time, and be much more in-person with how life used to be. This is what every human being wants: peace and friendship, interactions with people (face-to-face), rather than social media or technology. "Let them go outside and touch grass, let them have the same rich childhood you had." is where I completely agree. Hopefully, I wish you all the best in everything, my friends. Be blessed and have a wonderful day. 🙏❤

Also٫ there is a difference with gen alpha iPad kids can kids who try or are liberated of the media. The iPad removes your ability of many things to do OK like he said٫but if the child tries to not or already is out of that loop٫ he can be fine٫ being gen alpha.

I met my first cousin once removed 3 years ago, we were at a house near a lake for vacation as a family. She was like 10 years old and she didn't detached from her phone. I was happy to see the stars at night, since in the city we cannot see them and I had spent my chilhood looking at the stars. There was a meteor shower that weekend and when we finally managed to see a shooting star we got excited, my cousin got curious and asked what was happening, we explained to her and guess what she did.... SHE DOWNLOADED AN APP TO TRY TO SEE THE SHOOTING STARS AND EVEN TURNED THE FLASHLIGHT ON.
I was sooooo in shock that she didn't know something that basic at that age. I immediately tried explaining to her about light pollution but I really don't know if she actually retained the information, she just didn't seem attentive most of the time.

Khan academy kids (which is an app that helps kids learn). Nothing I say changes it."She's just tired, let her play for a while!" and she ends up playing all night, and sleeping way later than she did before. It's horrifying. These devices shouldn't be in little kids' hands. These children won't be able to think back on memories of playing with their friends or family outside, or going to a theme park or ANYTHING from the real world. All that will be remembered is the iPad and disturbing content they viewed on it. Save gen alpha, please.

Appreciated and grateful my parents didn’t give me any technology at such a young age and that I don’t have or want social media. I’m so sad that these kids have no imagination, and sad these kids don’t even want to play with their toys or don’t even want to play outside.

2006 kid here, I was raised in a very heavy electronic household. My dad is an IT guy and was an avid Gen-X gamer, so naturally I also had my hands on several devices. I’d play a lot of games on the PS3 or Xbox 360, or sometimes I’d watch my Dad play, and other times we’d play together. But along with that, I also had access to an iPad, an iPod, a whole desktop computer, and the TV.
It’s really upsetting seeing these kids essentially depend on the iPad, all ‘cause their parents don’t wanna parent. I could never imagine throwing a tantrum if my electronics were taken away. I’d probably tear up a bit and just lay down somewhere trying to relax myself and deal with the punishment by drawing. One time I was banned from having RUclips for 2 weeks, so I spent that time watching movies, playing games, drawing, and hanging out with my brother instead.
Usually, videos like these would discourage people from having kids. But if anything, this video makes me want to have a kid and raise them in a similar way to how I was raised. Electronics are okay as long as they don’t consume a kid’s life. Make sure to monitor what it is your kids watch, and spend some theme with them if they’re playing a game.

    • @CesarGameBoy.
      @CesarGameBoy. 5 месяцев назад +8

For anyone curious and wanted more details as to the specifics of my childhood life. I’d spend a lot of time watching RUclips or playing any Shark-related mobile game I could find. But the videos I’d watch were never true brain-rot like the content for the kids of today. They were classic late 2000s and early 2010s Let’s Plays and were very relaxed in nature. No constant jump cuts, no extreme edits, no bright colors, no meme sounds, just the player and the game, and I loved it a lot (thanks Chuggaaconroy). I’d also love watching plush videos (SML, Spindashpro, CuteMarioBros, etc), Top 10 lists, animations, or Tributes to Prehistoric Animals while Three Days Grace plays in the background. But if I’m not watching RUclips, then I was likely watching Nickelodeon shows.
I also loved games as well. I’d be playing games for a younger audience like Ratchet & Clank, Sonic, LittleBigPlanet, Toy Story 3 (GOATed), Rayman, Minecraft, etc. And when I wasn’t playing, I’d be watching my Dad play more adult games like Dead Space, Infamous, God of War, Bioshock, and more. So even if I played games, my Dad still found a way to get a father-son bonding experience out of it, and would even play some of the multiplayer games together, or do the classic “it’s my turn when you die” routine for the single player games. Though he never let me play any game beyond “T for Teen” for obvious reasons. Except Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse though. For some reason my Dad was really okay with me and my brother watching Family Guy, even if my Mom wasn’t too fond of it (God forbid Lois say “sex on TV” when my Mom was present). I guess Family Guy is one of the more tame adult shows, since most jokes would’ve gone over the heads of kids like me and my brother.
In spite of this, I also loved playing with toys as well. Me and my little brother (3/19/2009, today is actually his birthday) would always make up stories of our plushies going on these wild adventures. Sometimes influenced by the videos we may have watched while wearing headphones. If my Mom heard any swearing, she’d tell me to switch the video. And while I may have gotten around it at times, I was never disrespectful to my parents by cussing them out or anything, since I knew that was wrong and I’d be punished for it.
Not to mention how much fun I had talking with my friends at school about Minecraft or just general things about games. Very awkward trying to explain what “Animal I Have Become by Three Days Grace” was to a bunch of other 7-year olds though.

GenZ undergrad here. My parents raised me as if I was a boomer and I did not get a smart phone until I was 16, and before that it was a flip phone for important stuff. I can say it paid off in the long run because while I do ocassionally binge online for content to read, I always had the self control to not only put the device down if needed, and not get distracted. If you really can't go outside (Im sure all of you in the COVID lockdown generation can relate) get a few friends and start playing board games or hell, even Uno with special rules to up the ante. Not only it keeps you occupied it helps you socialize outside of the toxic cesspit that is social media.
Its always entertaining to pull the uno reverse card on someone.

Our parents took my brother and me to libraries before we could walk, and they loved it. I'm gen z, and I've talked to people about this situation. It's possible that this is just typical generational panic, but it does seem a lot worse than before, in regards to the illiteracy stuff. But technology is not going to stop developing anytime soon, and frankly there's little to do in order to prevent it. If you think it's bad now, it'll probably be a lot worse in the next generations. The chances are we will be fine despite inability to learn at this crucial time in one's life. At the end of the day, these children are children, and therefore anger, crying, tantrums, etc are to be expect (it is very concerning that they are at such a high amplitute thou)
And I do speak from experience, as I too, grew up with a screen from a younger age, as did my brother, who is now starting college soon. I definitely had some resemblence to these kids (not nearly as bad though) but now that I'm older I feel so silly knowing that it was once me. Obviously, there's a large difference, because schools was always easy for me and whatnot.
What I'm trying to say is that this is concerning, but should not be feared about or considered as "our doom," and generational panic is definitely a factor here. Every generation has feared the next after all.

For example, my niece is Gen Alpha and is allowed to play with an iPad, but she is only allowed to play two-person games with a parent. If they watch TV, they watch as a family and talk about the episode after. These are good bonding activities using screens in moderation; my hope is that she grows up well and healthy!
