- We linked up with Corridor Crew to review the visual effects in some of the past few decades' most iconic fight scenes. Niko, Wren, and Clint, professional visual effects artists and hosts of the popular "VFX Artists React" series, sit down to critique six memorable action sequences ranging from the casino fight in "Black Panther" to the chateau showdown in "The Matrix Reloaded."
Visual effects can make or break a fight sequence. Rushed effects work can detract from the energy and impact of action sequences, like what happened with the rushed final battle in "Justice League." On the other hand, creative digital work can allow for fantastic fight scenarios that wouldn't otherwise be possible, such as the opening helicopter sequence in "Spectre." for real, face cam does not work for these types of videos. it’s much better when it’s the full video, then it cuts to a full shot of them and so on back and forth. face cam of three people on a couch looks bad.
Not to mention the studio footage looks super washed out and flat. You can tell they didn't do any color correction or anything
If only VFX artists react episodes were this long
I always feel like they’re cut short. They just jump into the last ad without any warning and then boom, video over

"That is Buff Jesse Eisenberg" This is what I love about Corridor Crew. Aside from their break downs, they just see random things that will make you pause the video and laugh at it for like a minute and so.
You can feel the heartbreak and disappointment coming out of the screen when they start watching the Justice League clip.
Cant wait to see all that will be improved in the SC version.

Wow this just makes me realize how professional Corridor's reaction videos are. They actually go back through and replicate the way they made the shot just using the base movie instead of just showing an arrow where the effect would be.
Wait till you hear about Captain Disillusion...
The Chateau fight had no cgi shots at all. Keanu was actually doing everything including stopping the bullets with his mind.

And he actually stopped a real blade with his hand. The blood is CGI, though.
Actually Keanu stopping the bullets wasn't in the script, he improvised it. The director liked it so much that it stayed in the movie

It's because of what they said when talking about the long water droplets: hollywood reality is about what you expect things to look like, rather than what they really are

fr i just see the video and something in body just makes me super relaxed to watch and it makes me happy
Subsurface scattering is when light hits a penetrable surface like skin (specifically imagine sun rays hitting earlobes) some of it penetrate and some scatter.

@@ChineduOpara I suppose they do make it a plot point that when the world was too perfect, entire crops were lost. Maybe it was just the rain? People's brains couldn't accept realistic rain rendering and they just DIED.

My thoughts exactly. Maybe the rain looks like that because that's how the Matrix renders it.

inside the reality of the movie, that rain looks perfect
They keep using rain as a visual representation of the matrix code throughout the trilogy. I'm pretty sure this is the same here. The intention was not to render the rain drops properly, but as a representation of the Matrix's code.

That's actually color grading which is its own beast entirely
@@Timelessplays well, everything in a movie is color graded. Mexico just seems to default to sepia.
Pretty much Steven Soderbegh’s fault. Did it in Traffic and everyone copied it

This is what I wish their show was actually like, they have more explanation in 10 minutes of this episode than 3 full episodes of the show on their channel
Unfortunately they need to do the fun/entertaining stuff so most people don't feel boring and obviously the the merch parts.

@@casillasscorer their show is mostly about reacting to good and bad CGI, stunts, or whatever they are watching.... Not explaining.... They explain stuff by mostly guessing how it was made, or one of them watching a behind the scenes to know how they really did it, this video's title clearly says they have to explain every shot
It did surprise me how dense this episode was. More scenes, more explanations, more jargon, which I guess is the difference between this channel's target audience and theirs?
You know this isn't a vid on Corridor Crew's page when the audio is horrible. Wren and Clint's mics weren't picking anything up. All the sound is being picked up from Nico's mic. Wren and Clint sound tinny, like they're at the end of a tunnel but Nico's mic is nice and soft.
Don't know what you are on about mate 😂 it's just an insider video, all the sound equipment and mics are the same ones used by corridor...insider didn't gave them new equipment...you might wanna get that ear of yours checked 😂

The water-drops were a stylistic choice. The Matrix is broken, the rain represents the broken bits of code falling down in the Matrix.
the whole matrix series is designed to have this clever excuse. like it doesn't matter, none of this is real. if it looks fake that's because it is.

@@spencerholmes1047 yeah, they could've made actual water droplets line up like the codes do in the films. make it more visually comparable. or go absolutely crazy with glitches to show how it's all broken, and as a call back to the whole "glitch in the matrix" trope from the first one.
I loved when Niko read everybody minds and said: "This is the closest thing to a Dragon Ball Z fight". I was thinking those exact words as wwll
Niko at the end was adorable! Wren's sound was a bit off, but I love Corridor so it's good to see them on other platforms

I love how the bullets in the matrix scene are all the same even though there was like 5 different guns shooting at him
Crazy thought here: when they were discussing the Neo vs. Smith fight, they talked in great detail about the water droplets that Neo punches through and that they wouldn't look like straight down lines but rather like water droplets. What if they did that intentionally to symbolically make it look like Neo was literally punching through the coding of the Matrix?

Not to mention this isn't supposed to be real life. It's weater being controlled with the little girl's powers. Smith absorbed her just like he did the Oracle who in turn granted him visions of the future.
I got another vfx artist react to watch and i'm very happy because of that.
I find it odd they didn’t use their mic audio (presuming technical mishap), but I am glad to see Corridor getting this extra exposure.
They should talk about how lightning in movies strike and you hear the thunder at the same time.

Sounds like Niko and Clint’s mic’s were working but Wrens wasn’t. Maybe Clint’s wasn’t working either but seems like just an overall audio f up. We’re all guilty of it at some point.

I’m sure somebody’s said, but the rain in The Matrix is supposed to represent lines of code! It’s very intentionally stylised like that.
Yeah. Everything in the matrix is to show a simulation break and be distorted not so much defying laws of physics. Like that could even justify Agent Smith flying back so slow bc neo isn't so much punching a man but forcing back a program.
@@hourglas thats a pretty good excuse even for how "videogamey" its looks sometimes. Aside from the story, I love the evolution of Matrix visuals (that ending scene does look pretty good)
I may be wrong, but I believe the rain in The Matrix Revolutions fight scene is designed to look like the coding of the Matrix.
also raindrops aren't shaped like teardrops either, that's a common misconception. they are actually shaped more like really plump little parachutes due to air resistance as they fall.

Why does Wren sound so strange? was his mic malfunctioning?
The audio of this whole video is off. I had to turn my phone volume max which is not normal compared to 99 percent of other videos on the internet
They probably had insiders camera and sound guys in instead of the equipment we are used to hearing. You can hear the big studio space they are in, whereas their own sound guys got the mix perfected for that space over hundreds of hours of recording there.
