For college kids, here's the hacks I use for when I want good ramen on a budget:
Use chicken or beef broth/stock instead of water
    Use leftover meats
Put a splash of milk for thickness
    Egg, if you like
You can buy small packs of frozen veggies like broccoli or other stuff for cheap
    Canned mushrooms
Frozen dumplings you can also buy pre-made, just put them in at the end before your noodles are fully cooked and cover the pot to steam them
Bean sprouts and cucumber. Especially if you have spicy flavors
Some people add peanut butter and/or soy sauce

I bought a package, let it sit in hot water for 3 minutes and added all kinds of stuff like: fried onions, vegetarian meat, green onions, sambal, boiled egg, shredded nori...and other things just because I always though instant ramen was the base of something you should make yourself.
Maybe because I saw the movie 'Tampopo' when I was 18 and it left a deep impression on me on how to eat ramen.

Watching your videos are a guilty pleasure. My ex girlfriend was self-titled the queen of Ramen. She always added sliced American cheese, cayenne pepper, butter, egg, etc. to Ramen. She grew up inner-city and kind of had to improvise because parent's were never around. I thought this was a product of circumstance and never because it was a thing. I had always told her these things don't go into instant Ramen, but she was right (as always lol) in saying that they can and do - she would love this.

    • @xoxo_xoxo..

@@Pumaboy2000 basically if you put egg in your noodles it cooks inside the noodles so you get wispy bits of egg in your ramen. It's delish.

    I'll have to try that.
Was recently messing around with Ramen and stumbled into a three part recipe(?) of my own that involves if memory serves a bit of soy sauce, some rice vinegar and a dash of Huy Fong Chili Garlic sauce and if you nail them in just the right rations I swear it tastes like hot & sour soup. I also tossed some frozen dumplings in at the start for a bit of extra zing. Pretty decent ~12min meal. Most of that is waiting for the dumplings to cook before you toss in the ramen.

This is the exact way my mom always made instant ramen for us growing up, but she used oriental flavored ramen and chicken broth instead of water. I preferred my egg scrambled like egg drop soup over the soft boiled egg though.

I’ve always eaten my ramen with cheese, although I do prefer cheddar cheese any time is good.
The way I make my ramen is
    Cook Beef ramen normally
Add 1 cup of cheddar cheese
Add hot sauce (preferably Valentina sauce)
Add some garlic and onion powder
And there you go my favorite ramen recipe

I literally learned how to do this on my own two months ago and it's my favorite way to have ramen. I recommend Gouda cheese or sharp American cheese. I also put Sriracha in mine. It's the best.

I grew up eating and cooking Maggi Instant Noodles. It's quite common in Malaysia. Have always had it with an egg. When I started college and lived on my own, my mates brought me to local Indian restaurants (Mamak) for late night suppers. Their version would usually include some chopped vegetables, along with the egg. That's the soupy version and they usually use Maggi Kari (curry). When I order Indomee (dry noodles), I have it with a sunny side egg (runny yolk is a must!).

Some other suggestions: use chicken stock instead of water, add Tamari, a little bit of sesame oil, don't use the flavor packet (if it's a cheap one), cut up chicken into 10 mm cubes and cook it in the broth raw, black sesame seeds, add olive oil or extra virgin, Tabasco, sriracha or just the dry spices which are available now in a spice shaker, lime juice, cilantro, etc.

Emmy! Great video, it made me so hungry for ramen! I usually have chicken flavored instant ramen regularly with some extra seasoning and two eggs. I enjoyed this video so much! I would love to see more videos like this, so I can try some new ramen recipes! Xoxo

The way I do it is cook the noodles without the seasoning. Put a dab of butter in the bottom of a bowl with the seasoning on top of the butter. Drain almost all the water off and then put the noodles and what water is left on top of the butter/seasoning. Mix it till the noodles are coated then put a piece of cheese on top of that and it melts right away. Then mix it in and eat.

Back when I was younger, broke and didn't know the authentic way of cooking instant ramen, I would extend mine by adding various blends of frozen veggies to the water. Once it was boiling again, I added the noodles and flavor packet, then when the noodles were done enough, I made a small cornstarch slurry to thicken it all up. If I had some, I'd add some fresh mushrooms. Super yummy and cheap.
