This Woman Got Arrested for the Third Time This Year for DUI

- Around 10:05 PM on July 26, 2023, Sergeant Frank Mazza of the Middletown Township Police Department arrested Joelle Casale, a 41-year-old woman with a history of DUI and driving with a suspended license, on the night of July 26, 2023. Joelle was speeding on SR 36 southbound in a 2014 Honda with a suspended license and an outstanding warrant. She also failed to install an ignition interlock device, a requirement from a previous DUI arrest. Sergeant Mazza smelled alcohol in her vehicle and conducted field sobriety exercises, which Joelle failed. She was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including operating under the influence, reckless driving, and opening a container of alcohol. Her vehicle was impounded and searched, revealing an open can of Steel Reserve beer. She later blew a 0.099% BAC at the police station and spent the night in jail.

DUI isn't treated as catch and release and there are graduated sanctions, including prison. She needs the equipment that forbids starting her car if she's blowing booze breath.
Apparently, all this stuff we used to hear about the courts' severe penalties for DUI has mysteriously gone by the wayside.
And although I'm not a harsh person, I'm also a recovering alcoholic-- and I know the great value of consequences when it comes to intoxication.
Besides that, these more liberal judicial policies are objectively endangering the innocent.
(And I, myself, am ordinarily very liberal.)
Me too, they don't need lengthy jail, but why don't they impound their vehicles and force them to take public transport for awhile?
She is a menace and there needs to be stronger penalties to protect us from her. New Jersey basically just lets them go.
Why does it say she blew 0.099 BAC at the police station yet she got charged with refusal of a chemical test? With this being her 3rd DUI and all her times driving on a suspended licence and no interlock installed she needs to go to jail as nothing else seems to have worked.
3 strikes, no more valid driver’s license. Forever.
At that point, they knew what would happen and still did it.

@@bzmanatt3rd DWI in a year, suspended license? She should be in jail for a lengthy sentence and have her car impounded. She shows no indications of stopping or following her conditions of release. The least they can do is tow her car she can't even drive legally. Jump in her passenger seat and take your chances if you think she deserves her car.

I will NEVER understand the statement "I don't have any money" from a drunk driver when they just came from a bar.... given most bars have a cover charge, plus you pay for all the alcohol you drank there, ect...
So the statement from these drunk drivers that they don't have money for the tow or whatever is as ABSURD as them DRINKING AND DRIVING
Meh. Most dive bars don’t have a cover. I would say that as a female maybe she’s not paying for drinks but seeing her I think that’s probably not an accurate statement either. You can get cheap shots of shitty well vodka for like $4, so conceivably you could get pretty hammered for $20 or so.
Unbelievable that she is still allowed to drive. Where I live a conviction can give a disqualification from 3 months to 5 years plus fine.The limit is also .05

The cop knows she’s drunk, let’s do the sobriety tests to prove she’s drunk, yeah, she’s drunk! Why not just arrest her at that moment and take her to jail? Lol 🤷🏻♀️
I think for Court. Seems a waste of time since they seem to be releasing these selfish drunk drivers just as quickly as the police catch them.
Those tests will be used as evidence.
Because they need the evidence to present in court. They're not doing the tests to pass the time or amuse themselves.

That was a horrible one leg test I've ever seen. I've seen people blasted off their butts do better at that test. She should have thought about the consequences before she drank. This is her second DUI, she knows what's going to happen and that her car gets towed. I will give her a 10/10 for her overall attitude during the whole thing. She was calm and respectful. Thank you for not being an idiot!!
This was her third DUI in the space of twelve months.
