  • Stratocaster guitar build from reclaimed redwood playground lumber. Homemade wooden electric guitar!
I wanted to build a Stratocaster so I stole the support beam for my kids’ swing set! It’s a solid redwood body with a maple neck.

Turned out great! Not sure if you’re interested in creating how-to videos, but I’d love to see a step-by-step tutorial of your process! I want to do a guitar build soon, but I’m a little intimidated with where to start.

I have thought about it a little. I feel like I’m not good enough to teach anyone else how to do it! I just kind of go for it and fix mistakes along the way. Tchiks Guitars is a great luthier channel. He made a great how-to video. ruclips.net/video/vjcmbmjL8qM/видео.htmlsi=BO_553D0bt8JTi6k

@@dannylewisguitars I think you do amazing work. There is value is seeing someone doing oustanding work using minimal amount of tools. I have been watching and rewatching your videos for a while now just to learn more and more. You are more than good enough. I was curious, for the hardware only, how much should one budget to buy the required pieces? Thank you

Thanks for saying that! I’ll keep at it. Maybe someday I’ll have the courage to record a voiceover.

Sometimes recycled or non-standard wood can lead to interesting figures and colors - very nice! And that maple butcher block was a great find!!! Thanks for another quality build and video.

Such a cool guitar, and I really love what you did for the fret markers! A very cool idea
I'd love to build something like a three string guitar. I think it could be a fun learning experience and just so I have something to kick around. My Dimension IV is too heavy to bring with my everywhere

You should do it! I built a three string for my nephew last Christmas. It’s a fun project!

I've never seen fret markers like that but they're genius. Now I'm wondering why nobody else does it commercially.

Thanks! I’ve done it on two or three of my guitars and it’s one of my favorite ways to do it. It’s unique but simple. And the face markers and side markers are done in one go!

Thanks! I’m not sure what’s next. But I did make a nylon string for my daughter a few months ago:

I just made it up. I’m just a mediocre guitar player who wishes he was Cory Wong. Just like the rest of us.
