- Torrential Rains Flood Dubai: What Led to This Heavy Rainfall? | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Heavy thunderstorms have lashed the United Arab Emirates, dumping the heaviest rain ever recorded in the country in the span of hours as it flooded out portions of major highways and Dubai’s international airport. Torrential rain flooded roads, homes and malls and briefly halted operations at Dubai's airport as storms lashed the Gulf, leaving at least 18 dead in Oman. The state-run WAM news agency called the rain “a historic weather event” that surpassed “anything documented since the start of data collection in 1949.” So, what led to this torrential rainfall? Was it climate change or something else? Palki Sharma tells you.

Rain in the desert and no rains in the forests...we SUCEEFULLY ruined mother earth. Congrats Mankind for your efforts.
Whyte ppl
. But ur leader may have sold out
All the wind turdbines are changing the wind currents around the world messing up the weather patterns!!
Now that's the dumbest thing I heard since Obamas administration lll morons.
All that means is that we'll have a desert where a forest was and a forest where a desert is.
TRUE
People think that there is no God, but this shows God is in control of his creations.
U sucker you lost your control nothing else!
Not his but it's creations 😅😮

All the influencers suddenly want to leave Dubai now.😂

They tried to create "artificial" rain.. Troubling the nature... Here we go...
or its just climate change caused by all the green house gases ?
Aint no such thing smh 🤦🏽♂
They tried to create multiculturalism by building a mandir and Truth got angry..

Dubai need another mandir 😂😂😂
Probably artificial rain
It’s like they kept disturbing the big balloon of nature for more rain and BOOM 💥
Camels in the desert are now dreaming of owning boats.

Lol😂
I also agree with the theory of cloud seeding went bad...LOL
Went not bad, it was intentionally, the ppl must understand, this is just Hollywood.
Ok!!!
Wettest day in Dubai is right. I can still feel the pain of my almost 5 hours walk going back home. No metro, no taxi. Major roads, tunnels and under passes are flooded. Dubai terrain mostly flat and not all major roads have built in drainage as the region sparsely receiving rains annually now they should reconsider ramping up the city drainage system.
Point made, i hope they think the same.
Yes, that is a great problem all over the middle east - no idea why it is important to find proper sewage infrastructure and proper drainage for every road and railway.
Thats just 1 day of heavy rain. Imagine if it went on for a week. We humans are fragile
Dubai, the city is not designed for heavy rain, compared to Singapore, which rains almost every day
I remember them doing weather manipulation. Looks like some nasty side effects. Better to let Mother Nature be.
There is NO such thing as mother Nature- there is MOTHER MARY.

This is what happens when you spend your money on things to make you look good, instead of actually useful infrastructure for a city.
They planted 1,85,000 trees in a single year ( 2023) . So, money is being well spent. One more thing you have to understand because of the rise of renewable energy their main source of income oil won’t be available after 2030.
@@mahbubhossainshamol9362 Great, that helped avoiding the flooding how? Spending some money on something good avoids addressing the issue that they DID NOT spend on something like infrastructure for a city. Are they still driving trucks to get rid of brown water?
@@mahbubhossainshamol9362 I'm talking about lack of funds for infrastructure to help the city. You mention something else. Why are you doing this refocus?

Dubai will soon have a new tourist attraction - urban snorkeling.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Clearly a sign to reflect
Mandir is in Abu Dhabi, not in Dubai and certainly not in Oman where 12 children died. Dubai got it because of cloud seeding. Abu Dhabi is completely safe, no flood, no storm. Clearly, it's not a religious reason.
My heart goes to all those "expats" who lost their valuables. I hope insurance covers this and they dont face the same helplessness as they felt during these rains..
Yeah few days ago I was watching videos of them boasting of cloud seeding, now Indra - the deity of clouds and rains is checking in.
Looks like the deity relocated from India to Dubai...rotfl. Bangalore is in the middle of the worst heat crisis in years and the deity could care about blr, but about Dubai. Lame nonsense.
Making dumb statements like this only exposes your deity.

Get well soon dubai ❤️❤️❤️
Dubai has always messed with nature by flashing its money ! Changing coastlines, building islands & shifting currents, cloud seeding ! This is just a slap on the face from nature to show them some humility
Don't play with the almighty God he does what he does at his time.
Don't play with the almighty God she does what she does once a month.
Right exactly

I used to live in Phoenix, Arizona. It is in the middle of the desert and it is the hottest major city in the U.S. It has always had a sewage/drainage system just like all other major U.S. cities because it’s the law.
They need to build an infrastructure to deal with this type of flooding which will not be the last God help them.
They could build cisterns to catch the rainwater for every day use.
Wonder what happened in New Orleans KATRINA. No drainage system? It took US more than 5 years to restore 75% of it. Dubai did it overnight
@@itzyoboiliam8921 The city of New Orleans and the state of Louisiana did not comply with the recommendations from the Army Corps of Engineers years earlier.
How do you mean what led to the flooding?
Cloud seeding

God: I'll answer your rain prayers in just one day.
They made their own rain. So full of it
After receiving like 260 mm of rainfall yesterday, today everything is back to routine in Dubai! The roads & metros are operational, they cleared everything overnight! In such torrential thunderstorms, there was never once that the electricity go, nor the phone networks were affected! Plus the roads does not have a single pothole even after such drastic rains! Everyone are in their offices, the roads, malls & metros are operational in just a day’s time!! Plus they already have a system….how often do you get a year’s worth of rain in 24 hours! The quantity of water in just a short period is overwhelming for the sewage system they already have in place!
stop lying 😂😂
@@LAInDisBiaxxxy I run my business in Dubai! Today, I’m back to my office, everything is routinely back to normal! So it doesn’t make a difference whether you believe it or not!

Nice Job, somebody deserves a raise.
😂 That's funny
Cloud seeding should be internationally illegal, plus there are no drainage in this places

People must be so envious of Dubai for it to get all this hate after a natural disaster. My condolences to the family of those who lost their lives. With global warming, I doubt there's any corner of the Earth that won't experience unusual weather patterns. Dubai is fortunate as they have enough wealth to quickly develop a counter measure.
it is not a natural disaster. It is a man made disaster. You mess with the weather, mother nature sure knows how to destroy you.
Global warming? Don't be silly dear, it's called cloud seeding.

@@zakkarawylde151 If you took the time to listen to the video, she clearly says that there's no evidence to suggest cloud seeding had anything to do with this.
It mean they did not do the proper planning when building were being built
However much you plan, one cannot prepare for these unnatural weather surprises. What we can do is stop using hoardings on buildings and roof tops, ensure that every road has water pumps installed for emergencies such as this, and avoid basement structures
Heard it was the problem of the drainage system. Not sure if it was included when they made the city or it just wasn't constructed to big enough for water to flow this large out of it's city.
how would you like someone to edit your photo in an inset with ian huntley seen as partners?

why is there no information? wouldn't there be a record (flight record)?
There are videos about how they also create artifitial rain sometimes in an year as it is deserted area. But this might be a natural issue.

"Experts say climate change led to heavy rainfall", but the government admits it does cloud seeding. That can also lead to change in weather patterns.
Cloud seeding is done because of climate change.

Cloud seeding gone wrong.....they did it thee days back and this is what happened 😮
I like this reporter! Very creative. 😂😂
It's AI made in Dubai
Engineers have underestimated the big changes in climate, they forgot to standardize swales and drainages around the structures and areas to reduce flooding
This is the sign. Lets help all counties and prepair for the worst!
I'm not shocked by mother nature doing her thing... That's how she rolls... Unpredictable as f*"k.... What scares ME is how a country so architecturally advancenced and "progressive" didn't future prove it's entire urban planning for such... Even the airport is drowning for Godsakes... 😮

@@JanmeshDesai indeed. that 24-hour rain is equivalent to a year or two years of precipitation in Dubai.
@@LifeOdysseyMotivation It rained like 255 mm in a single day! Average rainfall in London is like 50 mm per month! Dubai is nearby the ocean, this was due to extreme low pressure created in the Arabian gulf, which caused torrential rains in the UAE and the other GCC countries as well!
@@JanmeshDesai It happened to Kuwait also way back 2013 or 2014. My friend there posted videos about their flooded place and some roads and highways. This phenomenon is rare in the middleast.
Many says also that the cloud seeding they did worsen the heavy rains.
Even in Nairobi, Kenya 🇰🇪 we are experiencing rains never seen before. Areas have never seen flood in my life like Bridges, roads, estates covered by water. Like this morning a specific bridge on a highway is immersed in the river water we can't drive to work
Not the result of climate change. It may be the result of El Nino. El Nino has already emerged and will continue (April-june). After El Nino, La Nina will emerge (June-August).
Effect of El Nino: Sudden flood due to heavy rain or wildfires in some regions of the world.
Effect of La Nina: Sudden snowfalls, blizzards due to heavy temperature fall in some regions of the world.
Both El Nino and La Nina are natural phenomenons and appear every 2-7 years.
