- China Wants to Rescue its Housing Market. Will Beijing Succeed? | Vantage with Palki Sharma
With more than seven million homes sitting empty, China's housing market is in a dire need of a rescue. Today, Beijing finally decided to pull the trigger. Chinese authorities have announced a broad rescue package - which lowers the down payment requirements and encourages local governments to buy unsold apartments. Will the plan work? Some experts are skeptical. They feel Beijing won't have enough money to help all distressed developers. Palki Sharma tells you more about the growing crisis within China's property sector.

And yet they're making houses on the border with India😂😂😂. If no one stay in the homes built within China, whose gonna stay on the borders.
The PLA stays in those houses, or Rangers.
They do that to secure their borders in case of a war, if they hypothetically invade taiwan it makes sense to have troops on the borders so india or other countries dont move their troops towards those regions. Theyre gonna need to secure all of their bases

*Govt Building Homes That Poor Do Not Want*
_"Over 10 years, the central government spent Rs 21,482 crore ($3.2 billion) building houses for the urban poor but 23% of them are vacant, according to this May 2016 answer to the Lok Sabha (lower house of Parliament)."_
_"The information that 238,448 of 1,032,433 houses built are empty comes at a time when the proportion of Indians living in slums has risen over five years from 17% of the urban population to 19%, according to official data, and 19,000 of 33,000 slums are not acknowledged by the government"_
_"In spite of the continuous efforts by the government, slum dwellers are reluctant to move to the houses built by the government due to lack of proper infrastructure and means of livelihood,” the statement to Parliament said, explaining further that the new houses often lack electricity and water, cheaply available--often through illegal connections--in slums. The new houses are usually not close to workplaces, the ministry acknowledged."_

Building excess infrastructures and housing is a problem for any country. China is no exception. Supply must be balanced against demand for any sector to be sustainable.
China has over production because the cost is exponentially low when production is high. This is the reason China keep building houses to reduce cost.
@@phillipchan6919 but why unnecessary building?
@@RenupriyaJaiswal To drive to cost down, to keep building experiences, to keep skills sharpened. You need some manufacturing knowledge to understand mass production costs against low production cost.
what is worse , spending 13 billions for an ,,,,,aircraft carrier or buying 13 billions worth of appartment .
That depends. If the 13 billion dollars on apartments that aren't needed by the market and stand empty don't have any economic or practical purpose. Given the history of poor craftsmanship those apartments may not even be worth the construction cost.
The Aircraft carrier could serve a critical role in the defense of it's nation. If not than it's a good show of America's military capabilities which will lead to more countries buying American weapons which in the long term will pay off the cost of the carrier.
@@HisShadow is the carrier worth the 13billion as an long term invest the appart are . investment .
@@henrilewkowicz6047 Again the apartments are only an investment if they're used. Right now any new apartments that are made are either unsold and if they are they aren't being used as homes but as an asset in a speculative market that is unraveling.

@@alrabbi6194 How is the apartment crisis short term? China's population is decreasing and is going to continue to fall for the next 50 years. That means there will be even less demand for the over saturated housing market. This isn't going to get better.
I find it incredibly shocking and surprising how China and India are just so strikingly in contrasting. On one hand they have an abundance of unoccupied buildings (ghost cities is what some calls it). In fact a few thousand of those cities already. On the other hand in India there is hardly any buildings and is filled with sIums everywhere with no toIiets. USA is in a similar position to lndia with their amounts of homelessness now.
It is because China is the 2nd strongest economy in the world. This situation will be soon vitnessed in India

Mad development should not be there development as per requirement only
That why those without no idea really should do some research instead of just listen to Palki.
The crux of issue is there is "requirement" those mad developer kept building cause there demand for it by "those moving to city" when city economy getting better more move from rural places.
At beginning there demand more then supply it causes the housing prices went sky high but then problem occur when the houses meet the demand of those live in new type of "buyer" appear.
As prices kept going high year by year more people see it as best place to put money in as asset so "investor buy" it as 2nd then 3rd, so the requirement to kept building more and more even if no one live in it.
There rest it what happen now, China gov notice the problem and took action only time will tell if there success or not.
India should take it as learning experience to not make same mistake.

It does not matter what they do to fix their housing market crisis. Even if they fix the housing market and make it more stable for the economy, they still have to worry about fixing their declining population to live in these houses. What good is it going to do buying the properties if no one is going to live in them?
