My TX22 is a great little gun. Almost as much fun as my Colt Woodsman or Browning Buckmark. I had a bit of trouble with misfeeds until I disaessembled the mags, dry lubed them, and then used proper techniques to load the mag to make sure cartridge bases stagger properly. Very reliable since.

I purchased my first P17 last year, 2021 and 4 months later I purchased my second P17 because I was very impressed with my first one and I paid only $212 and the second one was the same price! These two 22LR guns have run almost Flawless except for a few dud rounds. These two P17's were my very first 22LR handguns as I have always been a Glock 9mm guy for well over 20 years and I carried a G19 as my Duty Weapon for over 10 years up to my retirement several years ago! I also just purchased a Kel-Tec CP33 with those 33 round magazines and this gun has also been great for me and a bunch of fun at my LGR which I shoot once every week. Kel-Tec has come a very long way with their innovative Guns and they definitely hit a home run with their P17 & CP33! I'm now retired and live here in Florida, a very gun friendly State and I don't Golf but I do love to shoot my guns every week at my LGR!

I have a Ruger SR22 and a GSG 1911-22 but every time I see the TX22 I have to fight myself to keep from buying it. The extra capacity of the TX22 is an almost overwhelming temptation.

You might want to look at the new TX 22 COMPACT that Taurus just introduced in January 2023; I purchased and it is as good or better than it's big brother the TX 22 which I also have. I also have the SR 22 which is a very good pistol as well. My GSG 22 Firefly is more problematic.

you don’t need to be afraid of this gun. Tx22 is a great gun and I can bet you will love it. I have it and actually planing to buy the p17 just because is smaller and want to teach my daughter and wife on that smaller gun. and maybe you can consider TX22 compact. is a great looking gun. hope you can have one and enjoy it. take care

I scored a TX for $260 back when people where crazy. I bought the p17 yesterday for $257. I enjoy .22 and appreciate the variety. I have some motorcycle camping trips and have been considering carrying a 22 where normally I carry a 9mm.

Be "full size" is not a advantage when p17 have a same capacity same barrel length, and half the weigh, being much more compact gun, the only thing tx22 can argue is quality and reabilaty but that only time will tell.

I stick with S&W and Ruger been burned with Taurus n Kel-Tec both saying they fixed the issue but didn't.... We are all looking for deals during these times and I see everyone bringing .22lr's. to the range all over the east coast.... I was just talking to my son last night about trimming down both our milsurp n new toys.... Keeping what we know is a good toy and the ease getting ammo in the future.. Once my Spam Cans are done I'll be really trimming my collecting....Can't get primers.. powder n projectiles expensive n sell out quick.... Even shotgun ammo costs way more than Nitwit was placed into office..... Be Well.

The P17 is highly ambidextrous. I'm hoping to get and CCW a P17. The best train left and right hands so you might as well have a gun that is ambidextrous. The paddle relief release on the magazine is a great idea.

I agree totally on 22lr ammo vs center-fire. And like you my small channel I pay for all guns and ammo and sometimes just can't afford to show or shoot new things. But your wisdom on just discussing firearms and ammo is priceless. Thanks

You can buy a fiber optic front sight for the Taurus, it's cheap and quick to change out. I love the TX22, got a suppressor for it and it runs great with anything from the cheapest bulk to subs to the more expensive stuff. I recently got the competition kit for it and put a red dot on it, but haven't shot it yet since I got the new slide/barrel.
I also have two Phoenix Arms HP22's and surprisingly they are both really reliable and not ammo picky as well. I found a guy on eBay who makes threaded barrels for the Phoenix Arms, looks pretty funny having a 600 dollar suppressor on a 100 dollar gun. I like KelTec's ideas but I just don't trust their execution. I've seen too many vids of them constantly jamming and shedding parts because they are all held together by screws. Having said that, I wouldn't trust my life with a Taurus semi auto either. The only Taurus I have that I'd trust my life with is the Model 44 .44 magnum.
I tried the magazine extensions for the TX22 and they didn't work for me, too unreliable. I recently got a 22 round mag from promag, and yeah I know they generally suck, but Im curious to see if it works.
My suppressor is a RAD22 and that TX22 with subs is Hollywood quiet, it's a lot of fun.

Good and fair comparison. I have friends that like Taurus, not as enthusiastic about Kel-Tec. However, I think you're probably right about the need for the Kel-Tec to wear in. I personally am a Ruger, Beretta, Smith and Wesson, and Colt fan. My son, a former deputy sheriff. thinks everything is inferior to Glock. He's too young to remember when Glock wasn't popular around here and we got along just fine.

The Blackhawk T-Series L2C is a great OWB holster for the TX22. It's designed for the Glock 19 but fits the TX22 perfectly. You just need to adjust the friction screw to fine tune the fit.

I also have the TX22 purchased for 250 not long after it came out. I have never seen the Keltec for less than 250. I also use KUNCO the have free shipping to your FFL. Take care

Load mag with slide open and rack slide to release slide forward giving the slide a full rack rather than using the slide release.

By the way my friend, both of my P17's did not need any break in period and my first one went over 1000 rounds right out of the box without a Flaw and so did my second one which I bought 4months later! My CP33 has been to my LGR 4 times with 200 rounds each time with no break in period and no failures of any kind!

Hi Partner, I never owned an autoloader that didn't jam at one time or another and that's from pistols to shotguns. My handguns are all revolvers, and my rifles and shotguns are all single shots. I finally bought a very nice Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor in 45/70. It cost me $810 plus shipping and handling which was the max I felt like paying for one. What are those solid lead bullets with the hollow bases that grab the rifling when fired? I plan on reloading my own black powder cartridges. I bought two boxes of smokeless powder cowboy ammo, but I just don't feel comfortable running them through my rifle. Your videos are fantastic!!!!!

You ignore common safety precautions. The safety is off on the P17. You keep resting your finger on the trigger of the TX22. You didn't show a safety check. Your finger is all over the triggers on both guns like an inexperienced shooter. Your review is a dumpster fire.

Well, it seems you had a few problems with your P17! First thing is it is called the P17 because the mag holds only 16 rounds and one in the chamber and I can't believe you were able to fit 17 rounds in your magazine! I did extensive research before I purchased this P17 and I read mostly good to great reviews concerning this gun. I have never owned a .22 handgun and I had NO Experience with them. I have been shooting .45, 40 & 9mm guns and .38, .357 & 45 Colt Revolvers. I am now 78 years old and after shooting my P17, I was very pleased with my overall results and after about 1000 failure free rounds, I decided to purchase another P17 and this second one performed just like the first one! I shoot 4 different brands of copper clad ammo and it eats anything I feed it, without a problem! I have since purchased another Kel-Tec product, a CP33 pistol which came with two 33 round magazines and I purchased another mag and put on a 17 round extension, which gives me a 50 round magazine! No problems with these Kel-Tec Products and they all work without a Flaw! I think in time many shooters will find out that for the Money, These .22LR Guns are the best! I paid only $212.00 for each of mine and I'm having more fun shooting than ever before and saving a ton of money!
