Yes! Thank you so much for the complete and practical video on how to adjust the Waterbox Sump to contain both the RedSea Reefmat 500, the RedSea Skimmer 300 and have a Refugium altogether. The way you work neatly organized, despite the unavoidable mess it creates. Looks very similar to my situation I'm into right now 😅 this really helps me out, THX again!
Man this video is amazing very well detailed! I loved every moment of it! It gives me confidence to work on my own sump! U made everything looks easy! Keep it coming man good job!
Great video! I just ordered mine but was wondering if it matters how high above the sump water level I install it? I have a very small sump and the only way I can get it to fit is if I have the roller high up
It should not matter if the roller is up high. If it was low and the water level was high, you could experience some issues with flow and gravity not pulling the water through as good. But you situation, you should be good
The piece you glued on to the original drain pipe, did that come with your reef mat? I haven’t made any cuts yet, just took the bottom extension (same size) and I haven’t been able to find anything that slides on to the drain pipe, and allows the union fitting thing to screw over it (if that makes sense) I’m pretty confused on how to get this plumb into my infinia reef 230 :(
I really want to get the reef mat 500 but i would be putting it in a 20 long tank do you think this would work in a sump that size ? And now that it has been a year since you have been running the reef mat 500 would you still recommend it for use ?
I think it should be fine. Water volume of my sump was only about 20 gallons or so. And yes, still would highly recommend it. It will always be a must for me for all my tanks
Just watcherd your video as i am about to purchase the red sea reef mat as well and will need to modify sump baffles in my water box 100.3. your video walks me all necessary steps and. one question you said you removed ATO chamber, so where is you ATO coming from?
Thank you for watching! That refugium light is made from Tunze, it’s one of their waterproof fuge lights. This particular one I think I bought from bulk reef supply.
Im in the proces of removing glasplates in the sump to accomodate a rollerfilter too. Having some problems with the plates there are glued from the buttom and up - not simpel when your hand are too large for one of the chambers and their no room between the glas to stick the knife in. Hope I dont have to smash the glasplate.
Do you know how it is connecting the hose right to the 32mm main pipe? They say you can on their video and In the manual but I’ve never seen anyone do it and that’s what I need to do for the moment unfortunately. Thank you!
It came with a few adapters so it’s possible another adapter may have fit. I had to cut the pipe to get it to work for the proper height. Sorry I know I was not much help
@@BillysReefRx thanks for the reply! I was able to disconnect a piece of 32mm pipe and now I ordered a 32mm coupling to connect the two pipes after I cut the main drain lol! What a project! Thanks for the videos! How high do you have the water level in the sump?
Excellent, glad you got it worked out. I think I had my water height around 9”. I would measure it, but in the middle of a move and my tape measures are all at the new house.
Nice video, just got my reefmat 500, what glue did you use to connect to main drain? I had bought PVC cement, but its not pvc cement portable water safe, so confused what to use don't want to poison my fish
Yes it would have, but there was a reason why I couldn’t. I don’t remember why. I’m guessing something wouldn’t fit or because it would have been too difficult to remove the skimmer for cleaning.
I literally saw this video and replaced my recent purchase of Marine X 110 with Infinia 150. The Infinia allows you to remove the filter socks and add a filter mat to that section. Also, it has a baffle for refugium that can be easily removed. This is a great video but for a lazy reefer like me it was just too much work. I have subscribed and liked your channel as your content are really insightful and helpful.
A buddy of mine just purchased that tank, I can't wait to check it out in person. Thank you for subscribing! Sorry for the delay in response, for some reason your comment got flagged as potential spam so I did not see it until just now. I appreciate the support to the channel!
Thank you for the review! Just a small question: for how many days do you need one roll, and how often will it need to be changed? Yes, I understand that everything depends on the amount of dirt, and so on. But how exactly in your aquarium?
I really want to use this ReefMat but can't. The water level in Box too high, I wish Red Sea would allow use to adjust Level Switch in order to design water level in the box.
Hey Billy. This was a really great video. I actually was looking for and thanks to you, made a similar mod to my Marine X sans the refugium for my saltwater tank. I do have a question though. My reefmat does not seem to detect when to activate the roll due in part to what I am assuming my sump water level. I have it at 8inches. Redsea says that the optimal level is somewhere at around 1" below the contact sensor which mine is not. How did you manage to have yours work given I believe we should have the same sump. Great vid again.
Thank you so much for watching! I am glad this was helpful to you. My first thoughts for your issue: is the contact sensor on backwards? Can you try to rotate it? I think you can also change the change it in the app. If you go to settings, then more settings, then drive unit position. Try switching that. As long as your sump water level is below the sensor, your reefmat should trigger the advancement.
@@BillysReefRx I did check the sensor and settings and everything seems to be correct so far but I did some extra digging around and i'm going to be a bit patient with it as the FAQ seems to indicate that a day/time needs to pass in order for the roller in the filter to accumulate enough detritus for the water level in the reefmat to rise within parameters. I will wait and see. Thank you so much!
One other thing to think about, make sure the roll is installed correctly- no water should escape around the roll. Mine started advancing within 20 minutes of installation. If the water inside the roller unit is hitting the sensors, it should be advancing. Is the magnetic piece locked in at the bottom of the roller? Good luck, hope it starts working.
@@BillysReefRx Sorry for the delay but I was out of town but I kept monitoring performance through the app, came home recently to confirm it works! I just needed to give it time. My bioload isn't alot since I do not have alot of corals (yet) and still building up the tank but your advice here and video were beyond worlds helpful. Thank you for sharing your experience again and look forward to more videos! I'm enjoying my reefmat!

Try to see if you can get the blade through the silicone of the side you can fit your hand. I had to do that on a few

Thank for watching! I used the brand Oatey medium clear PVC cement. I just let it dry for several hours before I ran water through it
Would it have been more beneficial to flip that "square hole panel" so the water runs by the skimmer first?
Yes it would have, but there was a reason why I couldn’t. I don’t remember why. I’m guessing something wouldn’t fit or because it would have been too difficult to remove the skimmer for cleaning.
Questions:
Is the sump glass?
What plumbing supplies do I need to buy for the conversion?
Thank you in advance for your help!!
I’m not 100% sure. I bought asi aquarium sealant on Amazon
@@BillysReefRx thank you for responding! I edited my comment as your were responding. Would it be possible to tell me the plumbing items I will need?
Yes the sump is glass. The Red Sea reefmat comes with all the plumbing parts you need. Nothing additional needed.
Thank you again!

That would be a nice feature. Maybe get a skimmer stand and elevate the reef mat onto that
Hi nice video, question the back roll, with the catches you have them down. Should they be down or looked up into place
Thank you for watching! If I understand your question correctly, it should be down because of the direction the motor rolls.
What fire are you using to raise algae?
Just the nutrients in the tank
How long does the roll last? Im a lazy reefer and I might need this. haha
Mine last about 6 weeks. Its super easy to change a roll, takes less than 2 minutes from start to finish
@@BillysReefRx good stuff! 6 weeks is better than filter socks twice a week. I assume you're happy with it?
Yes, very happy. Started a new tank a few weeks ago and bought another one for the new setup
