    Love this video. Anyone that has this hobby going, runs into everything you described. I Just built a new setup and I put a lot of thought into my tiny tank. Plumbing and planning is crucial. I suggest if your watching this as a beginner. Get a all in one setup. Don't try to do what tidal garden does first. If you find yourself loving this hobby as we do. Plan, plan and get it done. God bless!

    This video is amazing. The way you explain things and make them easy to understand makes me wish you’d put videos out more often. On par if not better than reef buildings/brs.

    Nice! I am building a 1000 gallon tank with a 300 gallon sump (in basement) and this helps. I would love to know more about the sump skeleton setup where you move the skimmer and such outside the sump. I will record the process as well and share later on.

    Tip for people new to basment sumps, the pump that pumps up can slowly lose power after a long time. Check a few times a year if your pump still pumps like it used to

    OMG you made my heart jump out of my chest with that mummified zombie jump scare😂😂. I was so focused on that old creepy basement that i wasn’t expecting that. 😅. I get what you mean tho, those old homes with those creepy basements were the stuff of my childhood nightmares. Use to live in this old house with that kind of basement and it was creepy as hell and made all kinds of scary noises. Don’t think i’ll be putting a sump down those old cellars anytime soon. 😂

    My sump is under my tank and I purchased a pair of tall cabinets from Amazon to place on either side. One has supplies, the other has chiller and uv sterilizer on the bottom and external skimmer on the top. I like the arrangement although a dedicated fish room behind the tank is my lottery winning dream.

  • @siggyincr7447

    Dedicated fish/equipment room is the goal for me. I'm hoping to build a house 5-10 years down the road and my thought was to essentially make the garage an extra bay wider and then partition it off from the rest of the garage once the rest of the house has been pretty much finished. That way there would be room for a huge refugium/sump and raceway style frag tank. And you wouldn't be able to hear the equipment from the display tank/s. If you're building a space specifically for dealing with the power requirements and water/humidity, you can make it a space you don't mind spending time in. Though I'm a bit of a gear head/systems engineer type so in a way I would almost enjoy the equipment room more than the display tank.

    Great info! I have a 39 gallon Red Sea tank on a 2nd floor. Sump is a refugium style with mangroves that have been growing great for 4 years. Downside is ATO. The tank is too small. I do have a closet behind the tank, and might design a bigger ATO. It just needs to be failsafe, otherwise, I'll spill gallons of water from my 2nd floor.

    Currently my sump is in the stand under the tank and I have every single one of the issues you've described. If my external return pump ever goes bad again I'm not even going to try to get it out, I'm just going to plop a submersible in there and replumb. It's too hard to get to. In retrospect, I could have put the tank against the opposite wall, because behind that is the converted half of my garage. Instead of a desk and cabinet holding random junk it could have been a sump and cabinets holding reefing junk. (*Sigh*) maybe some day.

    I don’t want to sound like I’m nit picking but I hear people talking about using schedule 80 for reef plumping. Schedule 40 and 80 is for High pressure water. It’s a total waste of money. Schedule 80 is even crazier than sch 40. Sorry had to say it

    @dcmoore817 Год назад

    Summary: You can put a sump under your tank in the cabinet, but it will limit your space to work, size of equipment, and limit your visibility if something goes wrong.
    If you have room you can put everything you want right next to the tank in the open. This is beneficial because you can see everything and use large equipment.
    Third option is move all the equipment to another room. Beneficial because it reduces noise and gets the eyesore out of your room, but has drawbacks because the maintenance of two rooms is a hassle and issues that arise may go unnoticed in another room.

    Well from experience half of what's being said isn't practical most people don't have an extra room to house a sump if I had a room for this I certainly wouldn't have it next to my tank it would just make your whole system look ugly Most aquariums with their stands are matched between tank and sap. To act as if the sump wouldn't be big enough for this tank that you have you match it, you size appropriately.
    I have a 180 gall tank with a 40 gallon. Sump, that's the recommendations. I have plenty of room and it's not on guile. Looking to have a whole room full of c*** just for my tank. My tank is the center of my room. I don't have extra room for this stuff. It's under the tank as far as it leaking its leaking into the sump.

    90 gallon display….. sump underneath. If I could I would have a larger display (duh) with the sump and frag tanks in a room adjacent to the tank.
