Just a tip: use leaders so the pike don’t snap off
I never fished north of OK and even I knew that. 😂
Fishing for pike without steelleader: I am directly out! Thats like loosing a fish on purpose and may be even killing it.
Yea its dumb you never fish for pike without a leader everyone knows that
banned in most spots in canada plus not allowed barbed hooks
@@CHUCKBALLER2024 forbidden in the most european countries so too!
100 lb flouro works too
@@CHUCKBALLER2024 ahh i didnt know they were banned havent been to ontario in 20 years
There need to be more videos like this with both topside and a good underwater camera shot never seen anything like this before very entertaining. Nice job.
Thanks man! All my ice fishing videos are filmed like this. Check them out, enjoy!
No matter how many fish you bring up the hole, it is so fun watching pike and bass come through so fast through the camera, it never gets old 😂 great video tons of action!
Isn't it! Never gets old like you say, Thanks Tate!
30 lb spider wire is thin as 5 lb plastic and you won’t lose fish: use a leader to, your killing fishbowl with lost hooks,,,,,,
Steel leader is a must with Pike! They are like a cross of shark and barracuda!
funny how a fishing yt channel guy doesn't know that...
I always look forward to your videos. Love your peaceful approach and your reverence for the fish. I learn so much from watching these. Thanks for sharing your passion with all of us.
Thanks Ben! Glad you enjoy the videos. I like to keep it real and it's all about keeping these fish healthy and back to be caught again. The camera is a great learning tool. You are welcome and take care man!
Not a fisherman, but loved the underwater footage as inspiration for some of my aquariums. Interesting to see the 2nd pike being cautious and take a taste. Nice video.
Awesome! I love aquariums. Ya that pike was very cautious, seen that trick before. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Why use the children pole when ice fishing?
@@monkusbee when your ice fishing your sitting right beside your hole so it's not really feasible to use a full sized pole ,it actually works against you in that situation because youd have to be the distance of your pole away from your hole to effectively jig and what not. And don't worry those short poles are plenty strong.
it looks like you have a slip bobber in the right hole. Can you explain why you would use a slip bobber while ice fishing vs. simply setting the hook to depth and just dead stick it or jig it? Thanks for the video.
great vid. not easy to keep a dialogue going that long but this cat manages to keep it light and entertaining with the action and the commentary. Fun!
Thanks Kevin! Glad you enjoyed this one.
The Bob Ross of ice fishing. Loving it!
That's awesome. Thanks man.
Yes! I feel like im right there with ya. !
Awesome! Have others say that too. Glad I can bring that experience.
The night before you hit the ice take a few ice cube trays and a dozen or so mackerel. Cut the mackerel up and put some meat in your ice cube trays and pour fish oil, garlic oil in the trays. Let it freeze overnight, take the trays with you and drop a few down your hole every hour.
I have seen soooo many fishing videos but this one I enjoyed so much. Thank you and well done
Well thank you. Glad you enjoyed!
I've ice fished 50 years and I gotta say this was fun to watch
That is awesome Stu! You got some years in for sure! I'm working on mine. Take care and Glad you enjoyed it.
I love it when you post up Bryan. Thanks to you I bought myself a underwater camera and man, best thing I bought!
Awesome Bindee! It's a game changer for sure. You will learn a lot too with it. Bet you are loving it. Thanks man!
So much fun watching these fishes get caught. Thanks for the video.
You are welcome! Glad you enjoyed!
Some of the best under water footage I’ve seen this year Bryan!!! Keep em comin !! And please buy a hook sharper 🤣
lol... Thanks Jeff! This one was a good one. I'll keep them coming for sure and Yes... hook sharpener for sure!
Привет, что так часто и быстро дергаеш? Удочки надо более жесткие и подсекать сильно
Past experience, ive often went to a different bait when the pike start staring like that. Its worked more than it hasnt. Sweet video and footage. 👍👍
For sure! Change it up. Glad you enjoyed the video.
you need a wire leader
Ya probably could of had a leader on.
simply amazing watching fishes underwater , looking at the lures! I love IT!!😍
A quick strike rig is the way to go. I have a few places where I use live bait and being able to set the hook right away is good.
I used to ice fish and was always taught to jig very slowly in cold water as fish are lethargic during these times. But really enjoyed the underwater video. May have to start fishing again.
99% of the time pike don't want anything moving slowly in cold water - i will catch pike on a deadstick or when jigging for perch but when i bought an underwater cam i noticed that the amount of times i actually caught a pike on deadstick/slow jigging was 1 to 10 compared to when i was making noise or jigging with a big spoon/rapala looking for walleye. in the summer i catch untold amounts of "hammer handles" just fishing a worm or minnow off a bobber trying for gills and crappies
Agreed. You can see that the perch and pike are intrigued but not interested in attacking until the lure slows down. Too vigorous and too fast.
What an amazing aquascqpe in the bottom of this lake!
Thanks! Love filming underwater.
Pike fishing without a steel leader, now I've seen everything 😂😂😂
Fascinating Video in many ways as someone who frequently fishes Pike, Bass and Perch. It does affirm some of my experience. When bass typically strike, they hit hard fast and generally will not get off the hook, Pike seem more almost casual in their approach. I use spinners a lot and rarely will a bass become unhooked because when they hit they bite hard. Pike are hit and miss and I lose a number just because they only passively strike and the one hook sometimes does not set well. Watching this video seems to confirm that experience.
I was blown away by the size, on video some of those fish looked fairly big, but when you brought them up, they were much smaller then I expected. Still interesting though.
This is because bass, perch, and panfish are all suction/inhalation feeders: they don't have teeth, and they usually swallow their prey whole, as they feed by taking a sudden gulp, creating a sharp inflow of water that pulls the prey into their mouth.
Pike are toothed fish who rely on their bite to kill their prey and may bite it into pieces if it's too large, so they don't need to inhale the prey. Pike teeth are not patchy and are quite sharp; you can catch them ice fishing because you're a lot more likely to get the hook straight in their lip, but in other seasons you pretty much always need a wire leader as they can easily bite the line off as the first pike does in this video. I've had pike hit smaller fish that I was reeling in and ended up bringing them in with a mouth-shaped imprint of tooth marks on the body.
Really good underwater video. It seems to me that you need to add a wire trace with a snap link to the end of your line to prevent being bitten off. Traces are a standard setup for most Pike anglers where I'm from (UK).
Please explain and include links... i am.new to this
@@MrJamesThornton - look up steel leaders. I always use steel leaders and heavy line for pike, otherwise you will lose most of them.
Thanks Colin! Awesome you are from the UK! Welcome from Minnesota. Summer time I use them but ice fishing don't have to many issues but I will get a leader next season.
@@MrJamesThornton Any store that sells fishing gear will sell steel leaders, some even come pre set up
I use to LOVE ice fishing with the boys, we even made a make-shift camper we could pull off and try and load back on, we didn't have the money to buy a real ice tent so we used our dad's lumber hahaha. Great video. hope to see more.
This is so fun to watch... Very addictive
Thanks! Very addictive like you say.
Great video! I just started fishing last year and I find the underwater videos really help me to learn fish behaviour.
Thank you! Awesome you just got into fishing. The underwater video give you a nice look at the fish behavior. Good luck, Any questions let me know !
I hate losing lures to pike slicing through your line. I usually switch to using a steel leader once I see that the pike are really active but it still sucks to lose a brand new or favourite lure at first!
always use 60lb braid and a pike trace leader
@@TheDonnyOne 60lb main line? Def not necessary. Way overkill. 20lb is good enough for large pike. I use 12 lb main.
@@MC-ml3cn na its to straight out the trebbles mate when you get a snag. 100% 60lb is needed. its better for the fish so you dont leave trebbles around for other fish and birds
@@MC-ml3cn you dont know what your talking about go away
@@TheDonnyOne lmfao, sounds like you don't have a clue if you fish with 60lb
its like an underwater forest. amazing view
Right! Amazing for sure!
Your luck is incredible
lol.. tell me about it
That's what I thought was gonna happen, tying the line through the spoon would be good if you were using a short leader of 20 or 30lb braid tied to a barrel swivel to eliminate twisting, then whatever you have spooled. Tie in a barrel swivel about a foot above your jig/ hook to guarantee the elimination of twist. Also, let em peel and put your tip way down in the water in thick ice, the edge of the ice will cut mono as fast as a tooth.
American fishing guide - 1. hook fish 2. reel it in as fast as you fuckin' can.
@@Heartandthehead works like a charm!
Those darn toothy critters can get expensive when they start biting lures off! Winter weeds are always productive. Nice job bud...
Yes they can! Summer time bass fishing. Always loosing my jigs. Call them $4 pike. And yes, if you can find the weeds in the winter you will find the fish! Thanks man.
@@BryanProkuski did you consider cutting a large sight fishing hole like 5 feet long and 3 feet across…
@@kevingunnery5470 No, but thats a good idea for next year!
Bryan Prokuski are you from Poland?
This was very entertaining to watch! Keep up the great work Bryan!!
Thank you Christopher! Will do. Glad you enjoyed it!
This is the funniest fishing video I’ve ever watched. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very cool video!!! I find myself yelling at the fish to take the bait 🤣. Awesome vids!!!…….Thank you 👍🎣
Thanks Kevin! Right! Gotta yell at them when you can see them just sitting there. Too much fun.
Have you ever tried using live nightcrawlers for bait? Bass will eat them like candy. I actually caught a
Pike off of live Nightcrawler trying to catch Bass and Bluegill.
This is the fish equivalent of ending up on an alien spaceship.
lol awesome
Awesome thanks
"This guy doesn't even know what he's doing"
No - he knows EXACTLY what he's doing
lol.. Right! I think he does, He has seen this trick before.
@@BryanProkuski that’s why I don’t really like people who catch and release. If your not planning on eating it why fish I’m not hating just know that I have to constantly buy new baits and change up my game because yes fish learn what lures look like and learn how to avoid fishing tactics.
@@rofishy2 Better to have fish that are difficult to catch than to have no fish.
5:15 “This guy doesn’t know what he’s doing.” I beg to differ.
This is some of the coolest footage I've ever seen
Thanks! I love ice fishing with the underwater camera. Won't be long and winter will be here and get back out there!
Well done, thanks!!
Thanks! Love fishing the the underwater camera!
I always was curious if fish were checking out my lures or bait. Now I know. Of course they are!
Right! Just cause you never got a bite doesn't mean fish didn't though all day checked it out.
Tighten your drag if you don’t wanna loose good fish like that
Agreed! You could hear me clicking it tighter after every loss but guess I'll crank er down next time.
I always keep an Emory board or nail file in the tackle box. Sharp hooks are the key to landing pike and muskie. Their mouths are like tough gristle and hooks won't immediately in them well if they're not sharp.
Not a bad idea
That intro straight out of horror movie haha!
lol... Right! Never know what will pop out underwater.
Your drag is to lose and horse them a little much otherwise you would be catching those pike
Ya it could of used a few notches tighter. Would of been a wild day if all those came topside. Still was a blast.
The reason why he keeps losing all of those fish 🐠 is because his drag is so low and it’s annoying
Great video thanks for sharing it with us. Keep more coming soon.
Thanks Tom! This season has started so enjoy!
Love Northerns and love the 5 of Diamonds. Always a hell of a fight.
Me too! Pike can't resist the 5 of diamonds. Like you said, hell of a fight!
Wonderful video thank you👏👏
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed.
You need to make sure you have thicker line and make sure the fish can take line and don’t real strate away as well
Fun video. Friendly suggestion....
Start carrying a good size magnet in your vehicle. Would have made for an easy recovery on the gold lure
This is awesome! We use a huge 5 diamond spoon with a golf ball for a spearing decoy
Thanks. 5 of Diamonds is where it's at for pike! Bet it works great for spearing.
Awesome footage! Prolly makes fishing easier too.
Thanks William! Doesn't make it easier but sure makes it a lot more fun!
“This guy doesn’t even know what he’s doing” Funniest comment yet on a fishing vid ! LOL!
lol..He didn't. Love it!
[thank, you for you're video and you're info]👍
I live the camera view it’s awesone
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed.
I love how they keep on missing it, and then you pull them up and set the hook and then wee
It looks we are looking at an aquarium.
Fascinating.
Right! Pretty cool down there. Never know what will swim through.
I love ice fishing I can't wait to go this year
Awesome! Me too. Won't be long and we'll be out.
Perch and bass are good eating! Pan fried is the best
Perch yes! Favorite is crappie!
*I've been watching a lot of you guys showing underwater footage, getting to see what's happening while working the jig/bait but noticed it's obviously a lot easier for ice-fisherman or from a pier. I would love to buy an underwater camera setup like this but can you guys think of how you would use it from the shoreline (freshwater or saltwater)? No ice like that much in So Cal.*
Looks like your rod is very soft for pike. It's great for perch and maybe for bass, but for pike and zander harded rod is preffered.
Great uw shots!
Really funny that pike smelling the lure :)))))
He knew what was up!
At 5:14....."This guy doesn't even know what he's doing"!!!.....I think he knows EXACTLY what he's doing, LOL.
lol.. Right!
What a cool perspective!
Thanks! I love ice fishing with the underwater camera. A lot of fun to watch and learn a lot too.
Great Video! I really enjoyed the underwater footage
Thanks man, Glad you enjoyed this one!
Braid will help hooksets in boney mouth poked, steel leaders are a must!
I was using braid. First pike I had bit off in while. I'll do leader next time.
Growing up in the Southern California desert this is so exotic!
Awesome! Yeah nothing like this in the desert.
loved the footage. lots of fun to watch. I'll be looking for you from now on.
Glad you enjoyed. Ice season will be right around the corner. Enjoy!
Excellent footage Bryan! You have a nice setup. Da Bears!
Thanks Jeff. Glad you enjoyed this one. GO BEARS!
nice footage fish wow fresh fish enjoyed your fishings good ideas
Thanks! Glad you been enjoying the footage!
Good times right there!
Yessir!
Fishing is fun and relaxing I love doing it
Yes it is!
That first lure had really great action!
I agree!
So cool vid, love ice fishing.
Thanks! I love ice fishing too!
14:03 What's fascinating for me is how well that Perch blends in with the surroundings when at the bottom. You'd think that these stripes and colours of the Perch would be visible but quite the opposite. Now I know this is under ice and seen through a camera but still very impressive nature's quirks and features
This is a perfect example of why I do not like catch and release fishing. Those pike have learned what is safe and what is not. They feel for hooks and can recognize an artificial lure.
Better to have fish that are difficult to catch than to have no fish.
Looks like another world, wonderful
Doesn't it! It's crazy down there.
dig the video man keep up the good work. was fun to watch. put a smile on my face.
Thanks Justin! Glad you enjoyed. The underwater camera is a lot of fun to watch. Glad I could put a smile on your face :)
lol the Bass was like... 'sure, why not'
Amazing session bro! Great video recording! You've got some beauties there, well done! 🎣👌👌
Thank you! The underwater camera is fun to watch. Glad you enjoyed.
12:29 The Pike is like NOPE!!!😂😂😂
“I’m good at fishing, I’m just not good at catching” lol that’s hilarious, same here same here😂😂
lol...So true! Just how it goes somedays.
Beautiful underwater video. It's cool to watch directly fishing behaviour. Amazing!
Thanks Gabriel! Very cool to see their behavior underwater.
2:56 the fish in the back🤣
lol right! Man these pike come out of now where fast.
Always tie a leader on when fishing pike!
I usually dont ever have a problem with the braid im using. But ya leader is better.
🤣🤣 the pike was too smart for ya 😂😂
Yes they were this day
I always get anxious when the fish play with the bait. Maybe that is why I need beer when I fish.
a good idea that will maximize your fish catching posibilities would be to make sure your hooks are sharpened regularly ✌️
The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. Makes us always wanting more...
Right! Always brings us back. Just never know!
in front of the camera they look like giants 🤣
Yes they do!
Yes bro this is AWESOME!
Thanks man! Can't wait for ice to get back out there!
Prefect 😊
That Pike at 4:17 knew something wasnt right as soon as he took that bite lol!
That was some awesome action!
Great video!
Thanks Jeremy! This was a fun one. Couldn't keep count of all the fishing biting today!
I enjoy your work.
Thank you
