I have an underwater fishing camera. I use it during the summer off of Piers, docks and wherever there's a drop-off with deep water. I like it better than the fish finder. It's more entertaining watching them on screen!
@@BryanProkuski I noticed the bass at the lake you fish at have a deep green tint color. Did the lake you fish at have an algae problem at one time? One of the lakes that I fish that used to have an algae problem. They dumped a blue chemical to get rid of the algae. It turned the Bass a darker green color like the ones you caught.
In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ruclips.net/user/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
Back in the 70s and early 80s we didn't see many largemouth bass but plenty of smallies fishing in northern Minnesota. Lake Vermilion , pelican lake , whiteface lake , wine lake, Milacs Lake , embarrass Lake etc...Full of crappies and walleyes.
I grew up largemouth fishing but man do I love smallies! Pound for pound best fishing fish. Those are some awesome lakes you named. Great walleye and crappie too like you said. Bet you had a lot of fun times out there. From Bemidji so I love northern MN! Take care man!
I went today as well Texas fisherman mind you and the day was a total skunk day even on the ultra light lures. Come home to watch the man himself slaying them!
Bryan say's, "there's another Bass, you gotta be kidding me, is he coming over here?" Then he says, "get over here", when the bass was swimming away. Obviously a love-hate relationship! LOL
There are very many things to consider and it's situational for every lake. If you watch Brian he typically sets up on weed edges, if you have live green weeds underwater you really can't go wrong with a weed edge, especially as Brian mentions in this video if there is another transition in the same area such as a depth change / dropoff. There are many resources out there that talk about where to target fish during different periods of the year. During the later ice season as oxygen levels drop many fish will congregate in deeper basins and suspend to the oxygen layer. You can start with a bathymetric / contour map but if you're looking for specific underwater structure such as weeds / debris / cribs during the ice season a camera is essential. Fishing during open water and setting GPS waypoints can also help in finding those spots after ice up.
Have you thought about using heavy fluorocarbon instead of a steel leader on the set line? Might give a more natural presentation to your meat snacks 😆
Have you ever tried Emrod ? I’ve used them from ice fishing up north to saltwater in Florida just change out the top depending on what weight fish you think you’re going for.
i got an idea for next time. tell me if it works. I think a perfect setup for the big bass would have been to put the slim jim just off the top of those sticks, and jig around it to look the like it was a little fish eating the slim jim off the bottom. God damn is that camera on the bottom a useful tool. JEALOUS!
If I were you I would use some big pike minnows and put my second rod outside as a tip-up. That way if it does get a bite chances are it will be a larger pike or a big bass.
I'm so ready for ice! Had a great fall catching walleyes and big crappies. Can't wait!
I love your videos!!!! The underwater camera footage is so entertaining!!!!
Hahaha 8:16 "Oh my god another big a... big ole bass."

Nice Bass didn't look 5 lbs. But a definite 3+. Nice job.

Thanks man! This was a great video. These were some BIGGINs! I love my bass too!
Been waiting for another one of your videos! Best one yet👍
I agree. My favorite one yet this season! Thanks CJ!
@@BryanProkuski np you’re my favorite ice fishing RUclips channel and you’re the one that got me started on a small channel.
I've never seen an ice fishing lure that would catch fish without being tipped with bait. Gotta get me a slab rap.
Any kind of slab rap or rattle bait up shallow will do the trick ice fishing! No bait needed.
Nice bass. Greetings my friend
Thanks! Welcome from Minnesota!
Outstanding video!
Thanks Juley! Glad you enjoyed.
That’s a sick day of fishing
Yes it was! Definitely my favorite day out so far.
Your vids are sooooooooooooooooo AWESOME!!!!!!
Thanks mannnnnnnn! Glad you like them.
Loved it!
Awesome. Glad you enjoyed.
Watching it right now bud !
Sweet!
So nice to watch yours videos - is very interesting how fish reacts for lures. Thanks for really perfect videos!
You are welcome! Glad you enjoy them. It is very interesting to watch the underwater world. Wont be long and I'll be back out there.
Good Stuff bro
Thanks Bindee. I love ice fishing but can't wait to get out open water fishing for these!
Very nice 👌 👍
Thanks! Was a fun time.
I’m in Wisconsin but not ballsy enough to get on the ice. I’ll live vicariously through you 🤣
Wisconsin and no ice fishing?... That's ok, You can live it through me :)
Hell yeah im going out bound to find somebody willing to make a few holes for me ! Lets get them sallys bro yeeeee
New viewer here. Really enjoying your videos especially the underwater portions. Subscribed!
Awesome. Welcome to the channel Chris. Glad you been enjoying the underwater footage. It gives ice fishing a new look. Enjoy and take care man!
Good stuff bro! Just went out today in West Michigan and got skunked hard. Good to see you caught some!
Thanks Brendan! Bummer on the skunk but I know all about them days. Get back out there and try again. Never know what you might catch.
Great video!! Nice catch
Thanks!
Awesome vid dude!! That bass looked like upper 5s if I were to guess.
Thanks my man! It had to be 5's for sure. What a chunk!
These fish are so polite, they gently put their lips on the hook for you. 😂😂
lol.. Isn't that crazy. Big ole bass and just ever so lightly grabs the hook. Thank you.
crazy how subtle those bass are eating it
Hey Brian, can you give me any tips when searching for a spot on a lake, what to keep in mind? Thank you, great channel, I love your videos.

Teaching them near death experience.
lol awesome
That take at 8:10 was sick!
Yes it was!
Fascinating
Glad you enjoyed.
Great underwater video! Im in South Georgia so no ice fishing for me, LOL
Thanks! Glad you liked it. Yeah, no ice fishing in Georgia. You will need to make the drive this way!
Another big ass Bass!
lol...I may have said that
Good stuff dude
Thanks!
Man, it's awesome when, within minutes, you're slaying them!!!
It was! Doesn't happen often so I enjoy this one!
I love how you're always using something different. I'm curious if you ever use silver buddies for walley or perch?
Thanks Brent! I love trying new baits to see how they work. Never tried a silver buddy. They work good?
@@BryanProkuski we've used them to jig for walleye quite a bit! I bet you would be able to do really well with them!
CRAZEY!!!!!!!!!!
This day was! Too much fun.
3:46 "there's a big fish up there." there was 2!
Wish we had Northern Pike up here in western Washington, they look fun to catch
No pike up there? They are a lot of fun to catch. But they do steal your lures all the time so not too fun lol.
You should put a tums down on another line so the fish don’t get heartburn from that beef stick
Hahahaha. So True. Poor fish.
Just ordered some slab raps and rippin raps last night too 🙌
Nice! You will like them. They are some of my favorite baits for ice fishing. That gold perch they can't resist!
Have you thought about using heavy fluorocarbon instead of a steel leader on the set line? Might give a more natural presentation to your meat snacks 😆
Crazy, there I said it again for you!! Lol
lol.. Crazy!
So awesome
Thanks Alan! This was a fun day out fishing for sure.
Awesome video
Thanks David!
You're lucky you didn't catch sasquatch.
lol.. I will try if he swims by!
Bass : " Something is fishy here, this straight worm smells like beef!"
lol... Me: "snap into a slim jim!"
Wow! Love the videos, I’m going out today and hope to catch something like that today, keep it up!
I hope you catch something big soon too! Goodluck out there.
O yea that Minnesota fishing Is fun when your from Minnesota yeah
Gotta love the land of 10,000 lakes!
Have you ever tried Emrod ? I’ve used them from ice fishing up north to saltwater in Florida just change out the top depending on what weight fish you think you’re going for.
Wow great 👍 video! How deep of water were you in?
Thanks Liam! I was in about 12-14 ft.
Ok thanks. Good spot and lots of action for you hope you had fun.
Omg that perch taking the lure lol, hungry much? 😂
lol right. What you thinking!
This is cracking me up. All the fishermen are saying "bye girl" to the fish they caught!
Why was it so funny watching it grab the hook
I find it funny that big bass bite so lightly in the winter.
Great video man really been enjoying your content!!
Thanks man! Glad you have been enjoying.
Weirdest thing I caught a fish on was a cheese poof lol put half on a small treble hook and kept catching blue gill :-)
Heck yeah!
i got an idea for next time. tell me if it works. That might have worked. Ya the camera is a very useful tool. Learn alot about fish and fishing with it!
Dude that bass was a giant! Lots of nice eats on camera!
Yes it was! Wish I would of brought my scale for that one. She was a chunk! Couldn't believe how many came through to eat. Bass city!
If I were you I would use some big pike minnows and put my second rod outside as a tip-up. That way if it does get a bite chances are it will be a larger pike or a big bass.
This year I used big minnows. Got some amazing strikes. Check them out.
