I was glad to see this. I have see so many lacemakers who seem to just be able to "roll" the bobbins over each other. To get enough tension on mine, I have to pick at least some of them up. I wondered if I were doing something wrong, but there is really no other way to get some of the stitches snug.
Oh my goodness!! I'd never known about bobbin lace until I watched a RUclips antique shopper who introduced me to it. I had to find out what it was all about, and I cannot believe how intricate and delicate this craft is! Some people are just sooooo talented. It's absolutely stunning
Damn. I've got a lot of respect for anyone who does something as tedious as this for a living. Meanwhile I gave up knitting this hat that was supposed to be for my sister, because it was too hard for me to make. Lol
I have done macrame with jute, which goes quickly. This is so fine and delicate that I would lose patience. Hats off to anyone who does this intricate work!
28 yrs ago I took my son on a month long tou4 of Europe but we stayed 3 months . We were in Bruges and these old ladies were doing 5his in what I think was a street fair of some sort. It was incredible to watch but no way could I do it ,wonderful
This absolutely gorgeous..but...I do NOT have that much patience, lol. I remember when I was younger my great Aunt used to make lace, and I thought it was beautiful but couldn't remember any particular identity she'd just say "lace". I never realized that there was so many varieties and/or names scrolling through every lace making video I could find🙃, I finally came across hers as soon as I saw her...um...device? Anyway it was Hairpin Lace. Oops, sorry for the ramble! But your video was just inspiring I've recently become bedridden so I'm looking for something that will keep me from losing my mind. But if my meditation kicks in (or should I say medication, lol) I may be back. Really enjoyed your video.Thank you!
That is absolutely amazing. I'm in awe of the skill and patience required to do this.

Amazing - I don't have the patience for slow, intricate work like this, but I do admire those who do such things. :)

The patience and concentration and skill are amazing! The music goes perfect btw, it makes it look like she's making the inside of a music box lol
Very beautiful. Ever since I knew about bobbin lace, I wanted to try it. I find it very fascinating. I love to do crafts and keep myself occupied.
Beautiful to watch a lace-maker. Lovely Torchon lace.

een hele speciale manier van werken. Toch wel mooi
A beautiful craft 😍
Is it wise to put one on a quilt? Thinking of the washing requirements.
Is there a tutorial somewhere on this pattern? I’d like to know to make one side straight and the other curvy like this.

Only admiration for you dear lady.

Anyone can learn. It requires patience, yes, but it's not impossible. My great grandmother and her sisters had to learn when they turned 6.

I have pretty bad ADD. I wish I had the brain to do this, at least I'm pretty good at multitasking...
Y ahí dejo los ojos.
How did this ever become a thing? Even at two times speed it's horrifically slow! How did anyone ever complete anything!
This is quite coarse thread. You should see some of the very fine linen threads used for the delicate bobbin laces.
@@deekang6244 Whaaaaat! 😵
this is easy work, just make sure you are always working regular, and much faster.
Spain bordado del bolillo .
Wish I had a teacher close to where I am that could give me some lessons :(
Cometmoon
?
I picked it up without a teacher - there are good websites / videos where you can make a start yourself! Good luck
@@Ghargr18 can you please list some of those sites??
Peaceful not "pieceful". Just a heads up.
krazzysu maybe it's a pun because a quilt is made up of different pieces of fabric
Aha. Maybe. :)
יש לי סבלנות אין סופית. לזה עוד לא הגעתי
