Have you or do you ever blank out when dancing? Meaning do you forget patterns? I have this issue.
Yes. Always. Everytime I was finishing a dance, or after the party 1000 other combos came into my mind. It is perfectly normal. My secret is that I trained to a level at which I improvise and create on the spot BUT I also have some "signature moves" that I can't forget. It takes time and practice but you just have to repeat patterns until you can't forget them or get to the improvisational part :D
Another name for Change of places is Cross body lead

do you have any video talking about changing height levels? after doing some figures, usually a height change happens before basic.
That height change is just a "styling" to say so. But we will do a clip about that :D

Variation 5: How does the follower understand that she has to turn counterclockwise? I guess, you don't just pull but also have to add an impulse for turning into the right direction. I don't see that extra impulse. Without that the natural thing for a follower to do is to turn to where the hand is going, but that's a wrong direction.
As in all the other variation, of course there is a turning signal for the follower. The basic technique to switch places with a turn for the girl, involves doing a small circle with the left hand (as a leader). If this signal is not present, as you said, the follower will turn where the hand is going... Hope this answers the question.
